I must have pressed the Save button twice after waiting for it for so long to upload. Sorry about that. "^_^ Edit: I fixed it. I went to edit my submission and set the decision to "cancel submission."

Thanks! I am hoping to submit my Mega Man 5 TAS by the end of this week (then work on Contra Force)! :D Also, Microstorage does not seem to be working because I can't upload WIPs on it.

I finished stage 3 of Dark Man/Proto Man Fortress!!! http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1256333620/GlitchMan-Mega%20Man%205-WIP11.fm2 So far, this was THE HARDEST STAGE out of all of them. X( It was definitely worth it because I think I saved a reasonable amount of time (212 frames :D)!!

How many frames did you save in Protoman Stage 2?
293. :) Add that to the sum total (3057+293) and you get 3350 frames saved! :D I don't really care if I make it to 31:30 or not. What matters is I did it to the best of my abilities and I am trying! I use a lot of complex strategies and see which saves the most time (ex: arrow across room 3 in Dark Man/Proto Man Fortress 2). :D

I'm not gonna watch, so I won't be spoiled in the finished TAS, but I'm pretty sure it's amazing. Cant wait for finished tas :)
And I am perfectly fine with that. :) I like to post WIPs on here in case something happens to my computer and I lose all my progress.

I finished Protoman Stage 1. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/662879684/GlitchMan-Mega%20Man%205-WIP9.fm2 I saved 426 frames for this stage which is 7.1 seconds. I can add this to the total number of frames/amount of time that I saved = 50.95 seconds. (2631 + 426 = 3057 frames)

Thanks! :D I will admit that I did get stuck on the first pirate ship level and it took me 10 minutes to figure out that I was supposed to pick up a torch thing and use the barrel to launch me to the other part of the level. I thought it was an enemy at first because there were other fire things that were enemies and I assumed that I was supposed to avoid it. Now I can add this to my list of games I have to complete (this being the fourth one)! Edit: I just played the first stage and I discovered that it is possible to fall through a non-solid platform (i.e. a tree branch) by taking damage. I also forgot to mention that you can't get faster horizontal velocity from projectiles but only the enemies themselves.

Hi everybody! I was thinking of doing a TAS for Hook. I just got done doing a complete playthrough of it last night. I wanted to know how everyone feels about having a TAS for this game. Some tricks I discovered: -if you press left/right+up while using turbo A you can climb up a ladder really fast -if you slide on a banana peel you can immediately jump and maintain fast horizontal velocity (you can also do this by taking damage from an enemy) At least I started finding some ways to progress through the game faster. Even if you all do not want me to TAS this game I will do it anyway because at least that means I'm willing to give this game a try.

Gravity Man's stage improvement (about 40 frames) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/665542770/Mega%20Man%205%20%28U%29-stage00arrow.fm2 Crystal Man's stage improvement (52 frames) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/384042540/Mega%20Man%205%20%28U%29-stage07arrow.fm2 For Crystal Man's stage improvement I'd have to subtract 40 frames because of the 5 Super Arrows that were used and I started with full Super Arrow at that point in the actual run. That means it would only save 12 frames. Gravity Man's stage I would have a lot of Super Arrow left. Both improvements together would not save more than a second.

Hey everybody! Guess what? I have finished all 8 regular stages!! http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1781537854/GlitchMan-Mega%20Man%205-WIP8.fm2
Dead link, reposted here: http://www.mediafire.com/?wzzrmtnztk2 (I assume it was uploaded after the last backup before microstorage crashed or something.)
I think this means that all my demonstration runs are gone. At least my WIP8 was saved (that's the main thing). Thanks! :D

Awesome! I will gladly proceed with Protoman's Fortress Stage 1 then! :D I also did some tests with the gravitational velocity demonstration I recently posted. It is possible to ride the Super Arrow with FB vertical velocity and still do the down scroll glitch at the end of the room. Since I had Napalm Man's weapon equipped during Stone Man's boss fight I could have done it in Charge Man's stage. This means less lag since there would be less sprites on the screen and better Super Arrow usage.

Thanks for congratulating me! :D Now for the list of possible improvements: I could have used Super Arrow to zip through the wall in Gravity Man's stage in two rooms: room 6 and room 7. I also could have used an Arrow screen scrolling glitch in the second to third room of Crystal Man's stage and used another Arrow zip myself out of the ceiling. I didn't feel like doing all those stages over again just for those two time savers (probably wouldn't have saved more than a second each anyway). I will keep progressing with this run the way it is if that's okay with y'all.

Another thing that the vertical gravity velocity with the Super Arrow can be used for is doing the down scroll arrow glitch with one Super Arrow instead of two: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/939063788/Mega%20Man%205%20%28U%29-0Aonearrowscroll.fm2 The Arrow has to be placed at exactly y-coordinate:0D and you have to have FB or lower/faster gravitational velocity for the Super Arrow.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/429353696/GlitchMan-Mega%20Man%205-WIP7.fm2 Look at this WIP of Charge Man's stage!! The Power Stone definitely proved itself to be useful in this boss fight! I saved 609 frames (374 for the stage and 235 more for the actual boss fight)!! There wasn't a lot I could do about the lag during the boss explosion. However I was able to save just over 10 seconds (609 frames) off Charge Man's stage!! That's a lot! :D I knew there would be an improvement in this boss route!!! :D I have saved 2529 frames (over 42 seconds) off the published run!!! I only have one more stage left to go before the fortress stages!!! Yay! :D

Nice Stoneman wip btw Glitchman, it seems like using less superarrow to avoid weapon changes more really pays off.
Yes it does (as well as not having to collect so many weapon energy capsules)! I think this run will definitely be 31:45 or under. After all, it does need this big an improvement considering a whole four years of not seeing a new publication. I'm hoping to get done with this run no later than the end of June.

GlitchMan, are you still working (or intending to work) on this?
I'm not even sure if I'll get to it anytime soon because I have been so busy with the NES Mega Man games 3-6. I haven't worked on this run since I last posted on here (I'm still at the Zero part in the intro stage). I will work on it when I'm done with my MM5 run. Thanks for reminding me!
