An interesting note is that the Wario Cap first appears in Hazy Maze Cave and appears in all of the other maps after unlocking him properly. So some of the stars are only obtainable after unlocking Wario like the Shifting Sand Land Switch Star.

I don't think a 120-star run would be that awkward, although obviously it'd take much longer than an 8-star run simply due to having much more stars. Luck-manipulating the silver rabbits shouldn't take too long at all, especially if you're grabbing rabbits anyway to glitch through walls.
You do realise that SM64 DS has 150 stars not 120? Also Luigi is very, very useful in some of the stars, did you see my 2 year old SDA run?

100% run will take forever to make. The 8 silver rabbits hunt. You need to capture at least 1 regular rabbit first though otherwise the chance of it being silver is 0%. For example: If you capture the 3 yellow rabbits outside the castle as Yoshi, those 3 will now have a 'random silver' factor. After capturing their silver forms, you can exit, re-enter to try and capture them again (assuming you have the luck manipulation to make them silver). For changes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUvVHJJZPZs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDBpHCZzYVQ Most the gameplay changes includes: * Tweaked wall jump mechanics as Mario * Rocket boost start (hold the dash button and then you gain a rocket start, similar to holding 1+2 on Mario Kart Wii) * Mini flips from Slide (Kicks) enables the player to climb up ledges, not doable on N64 version * Long Jump to a wall jump is a bit harder this time. * Mario's Triple Flip jump height is better than the N64 version. * Notable level design changes in Lethal Lava Land Volcano section, Vanish Cap switch, Metal Cap switch, Tick Tock Clock, Rainbow Ride, Whomp's Fortress. * Some of the tasks do not exist on the DS version like Tiny-Huge Island 5 secrets and Hazy Maze Cave wall jump by the rocks * The minimum requirement to clear the game (without glitches) is 80 stars, not 70. * It's not possible to get the 5 special coins in BBB with a single cannon blast without changing direction, etc. * Yoshi is required for the 8 red coins in CCM and the 'updated' in the Deep Freeze Star in Snowman's Land. That is most of them for now. Will vote after watching the encode.

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/sep/03/roundup-umvc3-guide-brady-listed-error1-sfa-combos/ I've first heard about this video through Eventhubs where the commentated version of the TAS run was posted to Machinima.com. The commentary was interesting but we don't use CD recorders :P but DVD recorders/Capture cards. I will agree that the time it takes to make an AVI movie of a 2D game from Emulation like this one is way faster than console hookups. Now the run itself: Rose looks like a very verseatile character with one of the 'this isn't V-ism custom combo' super. And the block damage bug was a bit overlooked as a viewer, I didn't notice that until I've read the information from the submission page. Guy is apparently a top tier character in this game and wow those stun combos makes him pretty overpowered. Some of the combos feels like an ABC setup before a launch attack in a MvC game. The pushbox goofs were silly but in a funny way like 3:19ish where Guy uses his Super and ends up behind Rose before the actual startup. The damage 'reaction stun' lasts a bit longer than usual & you'll see combos that would very likely never happen on future releases of a pure Street Fighter game, see the first attack vs Adon round 2 and Guy's signature combo + follow up against Rose. + Shows that the game needs to tweak the hitbox really badly or increase recovery frames. + Wonky pushboxes, like M.Bison's Scissor Kicks whiff thanks to Guy's St.HK + A bit more variety than the old SNES runs of Super Street Fighter 2 + Shows 2 of the most creative characters in my opinion, that didn't appear in SF2. - Only shows 2 characters being played. This isn't Mortal Kombat - Lacks the killer visual/game breaking glitches. Again this isn't Mortal Kombat - No Dan, but more importantly is this Joke Character really TASable when played? It's a hard one to vote, as a Non-hacked, pure Street Fighter game this is one of the better entries but slightly behind SFA2G's Dynamic battle thanks to those crazy duo Super combo setups and the silly KO animation on Sagat, on the other hand this game was better in terms of variety of normal combos.

Oh. That's too bad. Does this mean he would have to start over to implement the changes?
Very likely yes, saving the frames on the Ocarina will affect a lot of changes in the luck department such as item drops, Darknuts attacks, Giant Octorock and many other luck related things. Since it will take nearly forever* to submit an improvement, this will get accepted. *When I say forever I mean, it will take months of hard work to submit an improved run.

Edit on Tuesday, July 05, 2011 22:56: Wow! Looks like I've been uncapped again after uploading 22 videos
That's cool. At least it's confirmation that you get it back. But how many videos did you have before getting the limit again and right after the limit was removed?

The problem with a walkathon version is that you cannot do W1-Tower's secret exit as it requires holding the Dash button to Shell Dash. So 30 minutes is way out of the question.

It will be a long & extremely boring process, not only for Celebi but also: The Pokémon not obtainable on Crystal such as: The Kanto Starters, The Kanto Fossils, The Legendary Birds, Mew & Mewtwo http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Crystal_Version#Pok.C3.A9mon_not_found_in_Crystal You can clone Rare Candies but nowhere near as fast as in RBY.

Will we see in the future a TAS of Sapphire that catches all 386 pokemon?-)
Not very likely that will happen thanks to the lack of glitches that enables players to capture any Pokémon. Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire has the Hoenn Pokédex that goes up to 200 Diamond and Pearl has the Sinnoh v1 Pokédex that goes up to 151 Platinum has the Sinnoh v2 Pokédex that goes up to 210 Black and White has the Unova Pokédex that goes up to 153 (156 includes 3 non in-game Legendaries)

HP Fighting 70 seems interesting. Fighting is an amazing offensive type, I don't remember any other level up moves Monferno/Infernape can learn besides Mach Punch. There is Focus Blast as a TM but it has low PP. It can hit Purugly at Valley Windworks very hard. If there is going to be a no major skips run, which ones should we disallow? My opinion on these glitches. Heavy: The Jubilife City Void (skips 6 gyms and Elite Four, obviously different route and team planning) Medium: Tweaking in certain routes to skip trainers Borderline Medium: Skipping the Elite 4 with the JP V1.0 only Surf Glitch (pretty dull compared to a no tweaking glitch run as the difference would notably be after the final Rival Battle). If there is a run that will actually encounter all 8 gyms and the 5 members of the Elite 4, does that mean we can use the tweaking glitch inbetween routes to skip fights? We need a mini poll and (dis)agree on this.

I failed to figure out the TAS embed code used to embed Youtube videos onto this page which is why you see a giant gap on the actual submission page. Hopefully that will be fixed soon. Saw this on Livestream and the long wait was totally worth it, so many what the heck moments, even if you saw the recent Non-TAS runs. Very worthy a moon rating at least for a 40+ minute improvement.

I did have a interesting idea but it suprisingly does not work consistently as I thought it would. Sometimes when I try to do it, Megaman does not fire at all. *Did this on real console because Dolphin gives me the "unexpected error" message with the Send Error report/Don't send* If you set the controls to Classic Controller, it will have 2 buttons that uses the FIRE command as opposed to 1 button on the Wii Remote setting. In theory this should give a slightly better rate of fire on the Mega Buster eg: _ = empty frame (fire button released) Wii Remote: Fire(1), __ Fire(1), __ Fire(1), __ Fire(1) __ Classic Controller: Alternating the Fire buttons to see if 60 shots per second is possible. Fire(b), Fire(x), Fire(b), Fire(x), Fire(b), Fire(x) The first new WIP of Hard BASS looks very stylish.

That "Congratulations you can upload......" banner had an X on it to remove it. I did that since I know about it already and my perk got removed... But around that time Youtube had a buggy processor so that 45 minute videos were 1 hour and 33 minutes. I'm not sure if those videos I removed caused to lose my perk :/ Pretty buggy if you ask me. I tried to re-upload those videos that eventually bugs the timer but it seems like they recently fixed it. "New! Animate your own story or create a video slideshow. Try it now " Is on "My videos" page and has an X on it too. So Youtube saying that removing that disables the feature :s

My limit was returned.
Same here >:( There's been loads of topics on the Youtube Community forums of people having the same problem. It seems like it's pretty buggy that you lose your privilege for just deleting old videos.
It was Forbidden Zone film in color. I deleted it once I got his message (it was Richard Elfman) After few days I got what I have now.
Apparently you can get it back if you reupload your deleted video when you once had the unlimited upload perk. But in your case it seems like it's a very tough situation.

On the DS version though, the player can actually climb on ledges after a mini flip via slide kick/dive. You can't do that on the N64 version. My 0 Jump button challenge on BitDW DS version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dB-_3zzUPHw

I still can't believe these weren't released for the 3DS...
It doesn't need to really, it has a better chance of doing well on the DS with the install base of over 120 Million than the 3DS with 400,000 (as of Japan Launch week). Oh and did you search the forums before making this topic because we already have a topic here ;) http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10095

I haven't watched it yet but there is something you need to know if you haven't seen the very first 'Secret ending' publication
Truncated: It is obvious that people want to see this published. As such, this is accepted. Then there is the problem of obsoletion and categories. People does not seem to want to obsolete the current movie because they have very different endings. We can not have one movie per ending, 5 movies for one game is too much. My suggestion is to have one movie for the secret ending (this one), and one movie for any of the 4 "real" endings. Whether that should be the shortest path (current published movie) or the "best" ending (with the rocket in the final stage) is left open at this point.
*expects huge disscussion on yeses, mehs, nos followed by a result 5+ days later* If this run does get rejected I request this being linked to the current non-secret ending run in the description, so it's never forgotten.

Thanks for the link sonicpacker. Out of all of the games I own, F-Zero GX & Soul Calibur 2 are the only ones. Pretty odd really I think, especially when most of the must have GC games lack true widescreen. I remembered Rare N64 shooters having Widescreen support too.
That was what I was asking; if widescreen hack should be used for encodes of this game or not.
Maybe if there was a secondary encode that supported hacked Widescreen support like most of the 2D runs having HD encodes.

What looks better for this game? A 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratio?
4:3 None of the Gamecube games I know have 16:9 support. The only solution is to use a widescreen hack so that the video doesn't look noobishly stretched. 99% of the Wii games have 16:9 support. Mario Party 8 is a notable Wii game that lacks 16:9.

Any why is there no quickswitch like in MM10?
Megaman 9 was a bit more faithful to the 8-bit elements than Megaman 10 was, you have to reset the game if you want to go back to the menu quickly as there a lack of an Exit feature on that game. For Wiimote users, you have to press the 'big' A and B trigger buttons to quick switch weapons in MM10 and it's pretty awkward. If TAS runs are aiming for the hardest difficulty, then why isn't MM9 & MM10 using them? MM9 Very hard is a DLC and MM10 Hard is unlocked by completing Normal. Megaman 10 is more accessible by 12 whooping playthroughs: Easy + 3 Characters Normal + 3 Characters Hard + 3 Characters DLC Weapons extras for MM only + 3 difficulties While Megaman 9 has only 4 playthroughs (or 7 if you count New Game+ Runs). Normal Hard Very Hard Proto Man (only on Normal) Screws from previous playthrough + 3 difficulties (NG+)

•Greenalink - His discovery of the "Cursed Link" glitch + method to get to the Palace of Four Swords
I wasn't the first to discover the glitched method to enter the Palace of Four Sword. RexZemenheart was the first person to make a video on this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDlvliJMCow But I was the first person to discover the Cursed Link glitch.

Anyone already made an Account for Nintendolife.com ? http://retro.nintendolife.com/news/2011/01/super_mario_64_is_a_5_minute_adventure_with_the_right_tools They didn't put much information on the actual TAS
A group of speedrunners have completed Super Mario 64 in a little over five minutes, utilising an emulator to break down the run into numerous sections, glitches, time-saving jump combinations, and missing out large chunks of the game altogether. The task of obtaining the golden stars has been skipped but when you watch the video of the speedrun below, you too might wonder why the developers included them in the first place.
