I'm not sure how I would end this movie input, high score screen perhaps? The video wasn't luck manipulated at all. It's only a 'demostration'. If any of the members in this forums admire this then I'll go ahead.

Meteos is a pretty good game to TAS, It might not be as extreme as Tetris DS but it has potential in High scores & 100/1000 Meteo-war modes. 100 Meteo-war TAS in 7:85 seconds

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u__oegr1-JY This is Contra Rebirth (WiiWare game) played on the Dolphin Emulator. So it means that we can TAS some other good Wiiware games too like Mega Man 9 and World of Goo.

If DSiWare games were TASable then Art Style Pictopict (PiCTOBiTS in the US) NES remixes, time attack and high scores too.

There's no differences to what shape I use. It's always a circular spin attack. I've just did some frame counting and it seems like all of the shapes I do Link performs a spin attack after 18 frames. And for each spot, you can keep your stylus at least 2 frames minimum each. If I hold a spot for 1 frame Link will just wobble left and right, getting confused where to go.

The only cut scenes that are unskippable are: *Boss' death animation sequence, *Doors opening *A phantom guard "debut" teleport *The cut scene after the credits. *Minor talking scenes (people talking to you, non-cinematic) Fortunately the main cut scenes are skippable like Twilight Princess :D
What about pentagon, hexagon?
Haven't tried them yet, I'm not sure it will work as effectively as the Octagon input because it's less points but not as circular compared to the octagon (I went for the more logic directions (4 and 8 points)).

Yeah, the game seems to be more stable but the cave graphics isn't perfect when set to SoftRasterizer. I wonder if it's stable when I go to the sea, spamming the jump button to go faster will nearly take a day to complete. Edit: Added attack input methods All of the attack requires no stylus inputs on the previous frame other wise Link would do something else like an unnessary roll. Thrust Attacks Start the stylus input on A (near Link) and hold that position for 3 frames, then on the 4th frame go on to where B it (few steps away from Link) and hold that position for 3 frames, on the 7th frame you release it (if you want to) and Link should do a Thrust. Spin attack input 1 (Diamond input) I performed the first spin attack with this input and it seems like I hold the stylus on each position for 2-3 frames each (couldn't remember). You don't need to let go of the stylus for Link to perform this move. I named it the Diamond input because if you "dot to dot" on each letter it should form a diamond shape. Spin attack input 2 (the Octagon input) This spin attack was done by this input instead of 4 spots, there is now 8 spots. It might be longer to do a full 360 turn but it's more likely that Link will perform a spin attack because the stylus input is more circular. I'm guessing that LID in the Input Configuration actually closes up the DS. But what's going to be more important to work out is proper voices when ordering the Treasure Crane for Linebeck's ship. I will need to add some more images about how I input the thrusts and spin attacks. Small TAS Sample up to completing sword training.

I've almost completed planning my 100% SDA route of New Super Mario Bros and it seems like the 100% TAS route will have minimal changes like more power-ups from Red ? Box / Hammer Bros! The only TAS problem that is quite a pain in the butt is my low (1GB) ram that I can't Turbo through the boring sections of an TAS. Especially when I send WIPS into the DS games topic, a very few would be able to watch it from Desmume at 100% speed or even turbo it without any desync problems. When I make an 100% SDA run of New Super Mario Bros, it would help you TASers a lot when it comes to ideas and good optimisation on the more complex stages.

There isn't a way to use touch input to make Mario/Luigi to go from 1-1 to 1-tower (as an example) which is actually pretty suprising for a Nintendo game not to do that. Only to change worlds. So yeah you're making things up.

Remember you can use your powerup in reserve on the touch screen while on the world map, this avoids the pause when picking it/any powerup up during levels.
This image is the world map screen and the reserve powerup icon is on the top screen so you can't touch it and power up. You can use the reserve powerup only when you are in a stage.

How do you do that (using reserve powerups on the World Map screen)?

I had that feeling too in 8-Tower 2 but you'll lose time on the Hammer Bros walking around to their next point, you need 2 power ups (Mushroom and Fire Flower) to quickly kill Bowser Junior. It's hard to say.

Just been experimenting how making a TAS of this game works. For rolling the instruction manual says produce a small circle by the edge of the touch screen. For TASing inputs you can see on the image is the "edge" of the screen. The roll needs at least one touch input that is in between the edge and the centra of the screen. Therefore a roll requires at least 3 frames of input. So what's the frame input sequence (basic detail) Frame 1: Stylus input near to the edge of the screen (near the red edge line from image) Frame 2: Stylus input somewhere inbetween the Blus dashing lines and the Red edge line. Frame 3: Stylus input that is similar/exact to the first stylus frame input. Edit: Testing the rolls and how long you've got to wait til you can roll again. Here are some numbers Frame 20xx 45 46 47 (2045, 2046, 2047) Roll lasts 30 frames til you can start the next accepted sequence 77 78 79 (2077, 2078, 2079) A small trick that I've found when playing around a long time ago is that during the 4th roll quick/sucessive roll, Link starts to get dizzy. If you use the 4th Roll and stop onto an door entry trigger. It would show Link's Dizziness for a few frames but because he is on a door trigger, he enters the room and the Roll dizzyness counter is reset.

adelikat, was0x, Lightblueyoshi Do you have any tips on manipulating the actual powerup inside the Red ? Box? I'm on 1-Tower right now re-visiting the course and it seems like I'm getting the Mini shroom coming out of the box all of the time instead of a Blue Shell.

Well I think this is going to be an interesting run to watch. It's a huge improvement over the GBA release. However in terms of sharing AVI formats of WIPS via Youtube isn't Copyright Friendly (yes Take Two can remove your Chinatown War videos). So the only way is either upload it to FileFront or a sharing site (such as RapidShare, Megaupload, etc). I do know a few time savers on each mission and if I might I'll try and make some good strats of each mission run and post it on the forums. The game does have some money/drug count requirements on certain missions. I think the early part of the game you need to have 20 weed and another one wants $5000. Too bad that Rockstar Social Club content including: Early Fully Cocked Weapons, Bulletproof Infernus Bulletproof Hellenbach (Limited time offer May 1st to 8th) and Extra money from Mr Wong's Laundromat mini-game can't be used in a TAS run, it's mainly the technical reasons like making "fake""RSC accounts and emulating the Nintendo Wifi connection.

Anyways, I've been thinking about what one would do in a TAS of this game. One option is manipulating a Lucky Egg from a Chansey. The 1.5x experience boost would put your starter's level into the 60s by the time you reached the E4, making Dialga/Palkia probably unnecessary. Guts Machop needs Quick Claw, so it can't use this strategy. This makes Diamond>Pearl, as Dialga's typing allows for a OHKO with Close Combat from Infernape or EQ from Torterra.
Infernape would have better benefit with the Lucky Egg thanks to its amazing base speed stat (doesn't need to rely on Quick Claw) Piplup Tactics If players had Piplup as a starter and used Machop/Machoke as the Guts Sweeper then there's some pros and cons. * A Quick Claw can be found in Jubilife City * Machop can be caught before the first gym and will need to walk to Eterna Forest and face a Wild Level 10 Bedew that should know Stun Spore. * Facade is found in Solaceon Town (Great for Guts sweeping) Piplup's Rival Starter would be Turtwig -> Torterra. The weight of Torterra should make Low Kick's base power a whooping 120. Hopefully a good Critical hit should OHKO Torterra even with his massive HP & Defence. Another pro is that Piplup can be an HM Slave if a player is making a TAS on PKMN Diamond. Dialga cannot learn Surf & Waterfall. Piplup is mainly a Special Sweeper that could take down Onix pretty easily but the base power of its moves (Bubble) is an absolute joke that it can learn a good attack (Bubblebeam) at: Level 22 As Piplup or Level 24 As Prinplup. Machop's Location details. http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp/location/066.shtml#diamond If Piplup had a good Speed IV and the Lucky egg, then it could increase levels even faster and learn powerful moves like Brine (some use in Double Battles) and Hydro Pump. Chimchar tactics For Chimchar it would need to know Rock Smash to get past the first Gym easily but the variety of powerful moves like Close Combat and Flare Blitz makes this one a deadly sweeper. It can learn Flamethrower from a TM which will be useful against many Bronzor and Brozongs. I couldn't remember if the Dept.Store is blocked in Veilstone city but you can buy TMs for Focus Blast and Fire Blast. If the starter is going to be used from start to finish then the Lucky egg can be used to reach an even higher level. Some good partner PKMN for double battles Before Veilstone City visit against Team Galactic. http://www.serebii.net/pokearth/sinnoh/route215.shtml Ponyta (the only Fire Type Family other than Chimchar's Family to be in the DP Sinnoh Dex, can use Ember to deal damage against Bronzor/Bronzongs). Kadabra (a good special sweeper that knows Confusion). Before Spear Pillar Mt.Coronet 2F Clefairy (Knows Gravity, upsets Flying & Levitating PKMN like Bronzor & Golbat). But this double battle uses Barry as your Partner and his first PKMN is Munchlax then Staraptor and Heracross. The other 3 are 2 type replacements and a Starter of the player's disadvantage which includes: Floatzel, Rapidash, Roserade Empoleon, Infernape, Torterra. If only the Super Rod was obtained before the Elite 4 it's possible to capture a level 55 Gyarados.

Looks pretty cool. It's nice to see a suspended glitch route in good quality (not dissing any camera filmers) and how the Knive throwing cancel becomes deadly abusive in a TAS. I will need to look up on the Castlevania speed running site to see how Quest glitch is caused.(if it's still up).
Basicly, every 15 frames you will hear "charlotto!!!" or "jonathan!!!" witch is VERY boring (for me it became very boring at least) Its even worse vs dracula (every 6 frames!)
Woah for the Dracula fight that's nearly 10 voice samples triggered per second 0_0. Better or worse than Julius spaming his dive kick?

For an 100% run (or 3 Stars next to your file) you need to complete 3 big tasks: * Complete 8-Bowser Castle * Complete all of the levels, find all secret exits and use all cannon warps * Collect every star coin (240) and pay every single product. Paying products includes sign posts which leads to Mushroom houses or new levels. After completing 8-Bowser Castle you get a special blue Mushroom house above 1-1 on your world map. You can buy extra backgrounds on your touch screen for 20 coins each. Paying every single star coin should display a message next to the icon "ALL CLEAR" Save, reset and then at the file menu you should get the star next your file. Edit: 4matsy has another good simple explaination XD

Forgive the possibly silly question: Why only get one coin in 1-Tower?
Simple, I'm revisting that level later on for the Alt Exit. It requires a shell power up like you might have seen in the published cannon warped run. Coin A (one by Dry bones) can be collected on either visits but I collect it on the Alt exit visit because the set of grey blocks later on will not hinder my performance. Coin B is found on the way to the Alt exit.. it's a no brainer you must get this coin for the Alt exit in 100% runs Coin C is the one I first collect during the Bowser Junior route. I revealed my small idea about the level in the video description from the Youtube link. Edit: 4matsy has a good simple explaination.

No, Luigi in this game has the exact same stats as Mario (keeping it retro like NES SMB 1 & 3) New video up 1-2 (normal exit), 1-3 (3 stars), 1-Tower (Bowser Jnr & Star C)

New video up to watch if you haven't seen it 1-2 (3 stars coins & Alt exit) TASed. Done on the unofficial DeSmume build (still works fine for now, not planning to submit the movie file since this is technically a version 1 run).

Looks cool, all 10 missions (level 1) cleared in under 10 seconds :D. Catch would be meh for speed tasing since you can't "instant drop", it would be interesting to make some interstting shapes and filling 4 by 4s with tight precision. Standard 200 lines and max score runs will be nuts. The 2 puzzle modes (touch and puzzle) is always fixed I think (not counting the mode where there are 5 levels of difficulty and you need to get the cage to the lowest level).
