I don't know. I kind of liked it. I voted yes.

Is there a way to skip straight to the last mission and get Carmen? Kinda like the Dr. Mario TAS that starts on level 20? That way it wouldn't be as repetitive.

I have to admit, the submission text has me impressed. I'm not sure I want to sit through it, though.

http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7902 I think this fits in the same category. Both of these runs are conceptually hilarious, but are they worth actually watching?

I think this was good. It just needed more variety. The parts where your opponent charge or do special moves that cause them to trip and fall over the edge are great, but the parts where you fly all the way back to the edge of the stage and they have to jump in to try and attack you aren't really impressive.

It's kinda repetitive so I can't say I enjoyed it from beginning to end, but it's a good vault movie. I'll vote yes.

I'm just glad people are using words like "I strongly dislike" rather than "This is stupid. I'm leaving forever"

These definitely need to be re-examined. I did an attempt at a Kaizo TAS long ago and this is leagues ahead of what I did. I know the site doesn't like the Kaizo hacks but there are other hacks out there that have been accepted and Kaizo is a pretty notorious romhack that I think is worth including on this site.

Probably the first one that blew my mind was the SMB3 run where Mario got all those 1ups in the scrolling tank level. After that I think it was the Castlevania: COTM one where the character gets two cards immediately, glitches his way straight to the final boss, kills him in the middle of a cutscene, and levels up fourteen times.

I really think a run like this should be judged purely for entertainment. A tournament-style fighting game shouldn't really be vault material.

Well, everywhere I go in the internet I'll see you, it's really not fair. You were one of the contributors of Zany Video Game Quotes, co-autor of a Super Mario World hack hosted at SMW Central, is part of thatguywiththeglasses.com....
I... apologize for being awesome? Maybe you're just stalking me and lampshading it to make it seem like a coincidence? I'm onto your fiendish game, mister. ...anyway, I'm going to stop derailing the thread now. :p

http://www.clanofthegraywolf.com/conbravo-2012-game-reviewers-panel I'm the guy at the very left. Next to me is Spoony, then AVGN, Roo from Clan of the Gray Wolf, and Mike "Birdman" Dodd

Topic derail: In July I sat on a game reviewer panel with AVGN at a convention. Discuss.

The sound cuts out quite a bit. Is this a problem with the encode or does the run somehow glitch the emulator's sound horribly?

Holy shit, the butthurt. If you don't like the change, discuss it rationally. To those of you who are really so upset that you type up long emotional responses or announce you're leaving the site forever, grow the fuck up.

That still wouldn't be a good excuse for submitting it to the site. Even if his Internet was that bad, it would take fewer months to upload it to Microstorage and post the link in the forum (submitting takes a while).
...it was a joke.

The only reason I haven't voted no is because I haven't seen an encode and I think on general principle I should watch something before I vote. I just can't possibly imagine there will be anything worth publishing here.

I'm strongly on the "entertainment" side of the fence and I do think that a lot of rigid rules can hurt the TAS community, but that said, I think "actually completes the game" is a pretty damn important rule. Voted no.

Voting no. This looks unoptimized. There are parts where you move backwards to avoid attacks (such as when the lady in the concession stand throws stuff at you) that you can probably dodge without losing ground. There's one part where you get attacked by the parrot and ignore it to attack the pirates. You get knocked down by the parrot and then you have to go up and wait for it to swoop down to attack it again. If you attacked the bird before the pirates, you could have avoided getting knocked down and avoid the long wait for the parrot to get off its perch again. The pirates would still be just as easy to defeat after dealing with the parrot.

Wait, what happens at the end? You walk in a door and then it says "Congratulations" and there are fireworks? What is the goal to this game? :p Anyway, it was fun to actually see someone finish this. I love the music in the top-down stages. The rest of the music is pretty forgettable. I'm giving this a mild yes vote. I think this is interesting for those familiar with the game, but not really anything spectacular otherwise.

Well, that makes starting the TAS kinda ridiculous. I need to press spacebar to start the game at the earliest possible frame. Having to go back and add unnecessary input before that makes figuring out the earliest possible frame to do it almost impossible.

Okay, I'm trying out openMSX and I'm having trouble with it. I'm using end to frame advance and scroll lock to reverse frames. That seems to be working well, but when I reverse and then advance it doesn't seem to be overwriting my input. To be more specific, I pushed spacebar at frame 232, then reverse back all the way to frame 200 and then frame advance again and it still is being pushed at 232.
