Meh.. Tried to run this in wine with a handfull of games. Non worked, which was expected somehow. Guess I need to install a virtual machine to play with this? Cool to see how far this project has come. Good luck with future development.

Sorry for disappearing too without notice. Had some problems with my computer for a couple of weeks which I just did not get around to resolve due to lazyness, and curiousity. :) Also I have been traveling a lot the last month, and will continue to do so for a couple of weeks more. My brother is coming here on Wednesday next week to visit me. We're going to go to Macchu Picchu among other things. I'll try to be more active from now on though.

Always wondered what it would look like. Yes vote from me. Nice concept. :D Is this also possible in the regular NHL games? I mean.. You can tackle someone so that they get injured etc.

Best would be if someone could help us to find the hitboxes and write a LUA-script for it. That would help a lot.

Sorry for my lack of updates and posts. Had some busy days going. Todays work looks soft though, so I will try to grind some Toki again. Laters.

Wow..

I'd throw in a vote for no excessive pausing too. Hell that was annoying, while the zipping is awesome.

Nicely done Diman. Unfortunatly I need to re-make level 2 for my self. Probably overwrote it without keeping a backup. Haha. Not much work is damaged though. On further notice in level 1-3 I think it might be a time saver to crawl aboard the moving platforms. Seems like the platform is triggered to start it's traveling earlier.

That is a lot of frames saved. I have to watch this. Edit: Watched now. Nice WIP. Hopefully you produce the full run soon. :) Will be intreresting. How much does the wall climb save? Cheers

Working on a new WIP from Random Pie's GMV. Playing stage 2. Trying to find other way over the spike with the annoying beetle, but it seems that we have to kill it off.

Ok. I finished level 1-1 now. Same result as Diman, 2309 frames to the first fade in frame after touching the exit. Going to move on with Random Pie's GMV now instead. Here is my WIP2 of level 1-1. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1064575297/Highness_Diman_RandomPie_IV-Going_Ape_Shit%28Highness%20WIP2%29.gmv Edit: Found a good thing about crawling. When crawling over a ledge, you can crawl 5 frames longer than walking, before you have to jump or fall. This can extend and make us reach goal faster, especially at hard situations. Edit 2: Made a couple of more trash tests in level 1-1 and brought my time down 2 frames. I did not record this because I only wanted to try it out. Not sure if I can beat Random Pie's time in it though. Not sure if I should put energy in it. :D This optimizer comes from crawling down, instead of jumping down, the last gap with spikes in it.

Looks really awesome so far Diman. Keep it up! I have some setbacks right now. Every time I try to record a movie with Gens, it ends up being corrupted, like all buttons is held down on every single frame. Not sure what causes it. I'll try even more tomorrow, as I really want to get going on this run. Hear you soon again. Hopefully with a WIP from my side as well. Cheers Edit: OK... So I seem to have resolved the problem to what causes the desyncs for me. I can not have a comment (notes) in the GMV file. That is what is causing the problems. If I edit the GMV file and delete the comments, it playbacks just fine. Strange. Anyone else had this problem before? Cheers again. Onward with TAS-ing now. Weeee!! Edit 2: Created a little WIP while being at work, because we really don't have much to do today. Grab it here: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1297041617/Highness_Diman_RandomPie_IV-Going_Ape_Shit.gmv Did not do anything to compare so far. If you spot errors or mistakes, please tell me ASAP.

Diman and me once again had a very long talk about making a shot at this game again. It is really time for an update, don't you all agree? So far we did not do much besides re-analyzing and just talking about the goals. Hopefully this will grow some fruits. I've been talking to ferretfaucette on IRC, who helped me with some RAM-addresses. Cheers for that! Please correct me if something of this is wrong. 00FF1CED - (4 byte) - xpos tracking 00FF1D05 - Stores if moving forward 00FFF507 - Non movement 00FFF50F - X-distance from closest enemy while ducking. 00FFF517 - Y-distance from closest enemy while ducking. 00FFF511 - Y-diff of platform enemies 00FFF51F - Closest enemy's distance from Toki's hitbox on the X-plane. Also. Feel free to pitch in for this gem of a game. If you (pointing at all of you) can come up with some cool LUA-scripts or handy RAM-addresses etc both me and Diman would be very grateful, and you would also take advantage from this, since the movie would carry a bit higher quality and entertainment probably. :) Take care meanwhile. Hopefully we will post our first WIP soon. Cheers!

Cool. Looking forward to the complete run Sonikkustar. Will you also go for a run with all the hidden exits later? Cheers!

I quite like the game as a kid too. The music is good, and somehow I got stuck watching this TAS to the very end. Also I like the salesmen stating "Buy more damnit!". :) I'll throw in a YES-vote on this. There are improvements to make, but I was entertained for the quarter of an hour it took to watch it. Cheers! Looking forward to an improved version.

I would love to see a run for this as well. But please, allow a patch to skip the loading screens. It got me mad right from the start.

Won't Dryad's powers be best at the mana beast? I mean, to cast both sabres, in addition with the other magics, such as the lunar power, and maybe the speed up thing with Gnome? Though Dryad might be to low on level to be very efficient, and the animation is quite long to get the mana sword.

Thanks for the info Warepire. I will continue to investigate this until I make a successful installation. Somewhat sad that Microsoft does not embrace tools such as nLite, which has even become a standard in many cases it seems. This is the problem with many corporations though, not only MS. And I can see both sides of that coin somehow. I mean... For MS to build the next cool operation system, they roughly only need to look at all the cool things people did with it through the days, and embed it to their own liking. I would if I was head of development I think. And "borrowing" is their middle name anyway right? :) Thanks again. If you can think of anything else, please post.

Yeah. I've been reading pretty much on the msfn forums, and I've found plenty of good stuff to try out. However I am not successful in my attempts. The last attempt was what you suggested, to divide the install process into two tiers by using a floppy image in my USB root dir and some entries for Grub. I still get the STOP 0x0000007B BSOD. I have not yet found a step by step walkthrough to how to pull this off, but I feel that the part where you have to boot twice with different entries in Grub4Dos would be the best solution perhaps? What would be illegal with nLite the install process? All it does is to slipstream drivers and hot-fixes and make an unattended file as far as I know? All those things can be found at microsoft.com anyway. If someone could help me to dive through the pile of resources I would be very thankful. There's plenty of info at the following sites: http://reboot.pro/8168/ http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?s=e054d9a0bcaacc48142e60c892492f0f&showtopic=22473&st=0 http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=22473 http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/149675-install-xp-from-a-iso-file/ http://reboot.pro/8804/ http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/137714-install-xp-from-a-ram-loaded-iso-image/

Buying anything is not the solution, and the final solution will be worth the effort. In this building we have approximately 500 computers, which from time to time needs to be re-installed. Due to extreamly bad network topology, and lack of recources, they are not even considering PXE network booting, nor do they have Active Directory or LDAP. Installing from CD's are tedious work, and it's slow. And due to all the people coming and going in and out of the department, stuff like cd's get feets somehow. They also tend to be destroyed by careless people. These are some of the reasons to why I want to put the installation on the memory, and besides, it's slightly cooler if it works. :) Please continue to think of this topic, and brainstorm solutions. Thanks people!
Post subject: Booting windows XP install from grub?

Hey people. I've got a 32GB USB-memory with some ISO files with operating systems which I boot through grub directly from the USB memory. I know that it is possible to boot windows XP installation from USB, however it does not seem possible through the ISO files. It goes until it's time to copy some files, and then gives me a bluescreen. Not sure why it does that. I also know that it's possible to format the USB-memory and have a windows XP-installation through that with no problems. I am now looking for alternative solutions since I'm not to keen to format my memory just because XP won't boot from it. I know that Vista and Win7 works fine from ISO according to many people, but I really want to install windows XP. The two sollutions I would like are: 1. To get it to fully work with the WinXP iso straight from the USB. 2. Maybe to copy the I386 folder from the Windows XP CD and have Grub load the installation somehow. Any thoughts or alternative solutions are welcome as long as it does NOT involve formatting my memory. Cheers people, and thanks for any help you can provide!
