This is a rather old thread but I coulden't help bumping it since I really need Gens with re-recording for Linux. Bisqwit sent me a copy with movie support. But I was not able to make GMV files with it he said. I'm not a programmer so I won't be able to make my own patches etc. So I hope that someone can make an official Linux version, perhaps compatible with most linux dists?

Aww man.. No new super metroid run this year. :( You could probably cut down testing time if you had a savestate hacker or something?

Cool feature that should be implanted in all other emulators me thinks. :) I feel that this is somewhat what some of us has been asking for earlier too. The possibility to rewind or fast forward to a desired frame. If you take a look in the Gens forum where the thread "Tools for easier hexediting" page 3 http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2607&start=40 My friend implanted a breakpoint so when you frame skip at fastest speed you can tip in a frame number you wanna stop on, and then it plays along with frame skip until reached. Then a popup box appears and pauses the movie so that you can set speed to normal. However his code wasn't that good and he didn't give me the source for it.. Yet. But this might be an interesting feature as well to add right? Like if you're watching a fullblown FF6 run and you have to run out and forget to make a savestate which you can load when you get back. Then you would have to watch the entire frameskip procedure which can be very annoying. Frameskip + break is good enough right now I feel. Sorry about somewhat loosing the topic there. But I think this feature would be good for rewind as well as fast forward. And I suppose it coulden't be that hard to implant if you're a good programmer right (which I'm not)?

Ok.. Thats it! You are not allowed to sleep for more than 3 hours per day. You are not allowed to go outside. You are not allowed to do anything but to crunch that game now! :D A sub 20 run. Make some proof! :D I'm not mocking you if thats what you thought. This is more a way to scream "WOW!" and to give you some motivation. Damn. If you succeed with that you could easily get an award or something for best movie of the year. :)

Err.. A qick hack you say Saturn? I hope you don't focus that much time on it right now, but instead focus on the time attack. ;) I'd gladly play a super metroid hack if it's good and just not some sprites that have been changed. I want a completly diffrent world to run arround in, and perhaps other quests and stuff like that. That would be awesome.

Did you drag the window size out your self by grabbing the corners of the window or something? I wonder because this happend to me on my girlfriends computer when doing that. When I came to a certein size it sort of flipped and got a double screen like that. It was resetted when I closed it down however. I was able to redo it over and over. Now I haven't checked for a while though. Perhaps I should do that so that I can bug report it?

What I thought was more interesting to know is what differs a rom of the same game from another? Like a PRG0 and PRG1 version etc. What was changed in the game and so forth. Perhaps someone could investigate further and make a super-huge DB about it? =)

And how long would the training take compared to the 20 hits? Would you save time by training? I think you gain stats by fighting anyways.

I don't think you need the training in a TAS.

I would like to see this game torn appart. :D Yes I know it's a crappy game. But still I have spent hours infront of this game. Perhaps starting out clean and win the against the hardest character and win the highest title straight away? I don't know. I don't even know what punches and kicks should be used to get the best results. Anyone up for it? I think this game has some potentials of making a good run actually. Even though it's nature is kind of slow and the graphics are poor, the sound effects even worse. Non the less I'm still concerned that this will make a great watch.

I wish people could check the programs I've posted and check what you want for addons and features. I will tell my friend to add more to it!

A friend of mine wrote a similar program which I have been using to edit my movies latley. http://133an.sytes.net/~highness/Gens_Editor_v1.rar This editor can also set breakpoints if needed, along with a specially modified Gens build. I didn't get the source code yet but I will ask for it. http://133an.sytes.net/~highness/gens_movie_test9f-modifiedV1.rar I currently have no manuals for these programs. But I think you can figure out most of it on your own. [edit] Server seems to have some connection issues right now. Try later! [/edit]
