The reason this normal difficulty run is six seconds faster than the published hard difficulty run is because the final form of the final boss on hard difficulty (where the alien boss dons the silver suit and climbs up the shaft to attack the guys on the helicopter one last time) is not present on normal difficulty. This saves at least a minute I would think.

I am to assume that you don't jump in this game, correct?
Correct.

With that being said, more people seem to be wowed by Umihara Kawase than they are by both Bionic Commando and Hitler no Fukkatsu.
Yourself, Josh, and Bisqwit have spoken in favor of UK. Myself, Kyrsimys and Dr Jones have spoken in favor of BC.

Also, I think Phil has a point in that we shouldn't really compare these two games.
I agree with you here. I'm not sure if Bisqwit agrees, but if so, then giving UK a star shouldn't automatically remove BC's. Then again, maybe that wasn't the reason the star was removed, as I was never told specifically. I was just told to read through the previous posts in order to figure out which of the guidelines listed is the reason UK got BC's star. (Too many stars overall? Star list needing variety? Audiovisually attractive?) Maybe if I re-read the forum again, it will become more clear to me. :-P

UK showed more diversity and 'perfection' than BC/HNF did.
Could you elaborate here? Cuz to me, there's only so much diversity to show in two minutes. BC may not have been as 'smooth' as UK, due to the NES/SNES physics engine differences mostly, but seems as close to perfect to me, anyway. Plus there is so much more to focus on in BC. All UK consists of is timed swinging and grappling. I think a couple enemies were dodged also, but it was very minor. I guess I'm just confused by the star because by the time I started to catch what was going on in UK, the video was over, and I was not impressed at all. UK just didn't seem like a good choice for a new user to watch - I believe that new users who haven't played either game will be wowed more by the BC video. And with that, my two cents have been deposited. Again. Totaling four cents.

Ok, well I'm guessing that the reason Bionic Commando lost its star to Umihara Kawase is because you don't want two similar games having a star. Is this correct? I personally think the UK video is booooooring. It's less than two minutes, the graphics are dark and do not vary, and it's not that impressive looking (whether or not the techniques are difficult to perform). Not to mention this game is "little-known" and has a "small but rabid fan following". BC on the other hand has colorful graphics with lots of different settings, great music, and is much more impressive looking, with techniques using the speed of re-grappling. Lots of people (who are on the internet looking for tool-assisted game runs) have played or at least seen Bionic Commando. Plus the video is a good length. Not so short that you blink and miss it, but not so long that someone new to this kind of thing would be bored with it. On my first visit to this page about six months ago or so, I checked out the best movies, and BC was the one that really got me hooked here. That being the objective of these movies, I thought I'd give my concern over its removal of star status. Hopefully this is posted in the right forum; I'm sure I'll catch hell if it's not :-P

Well, I was told to come here to see why Bionic Commando lost its star, but I'm not finding it. Can someone fill me in?

What happened to the star on this movie? This is one of the most deserving time attacks on the site.

Awesome to see someone crazy enough to do a 2-player time attack on this game! I had a few nitpicks / suggestions about your sample movie: 1) If you're going for fastest time, (not sure if you are specifically or not) you can exit the room quicker by not having the yellow shield at the end of the room. The red player is positioned to exit immediately, but the blue player can only get close enough to the exit door as the shield will allow until it dissolves, so there is extra waiting time there. 2) Also for fastest time, it saves a LOT of time to avoid all prizes and money, because that stupid screen at the end of each level gets annoying when playing normally. Unless there is a way to skip it that I'm not aware of. Hopefully this run continues to be updated, I'm very excited for it!
