Seeing MM6 bumped reminded me I wanted to ask how this run was progressing. So I'm doing that now. :)

I thought this was a nice effort and was entertained throughout. And it's way overdue for Genisto's run to be replaced. Voting yes. The FCM does not release "up" at the end of the movie, so it never technically ends. (In my experience, this is usually only caused by inaccurate hex-editing.)

I'll handle this one. We all know that females simultaneously demand equal treatment and the privilege of being female. Ignoring the fact that this is idiotic and contradictory, it's still something that must be dealt with by us men on the daily. First of all, do you want to have sex with this girl? Of course you do, she's hot, and she's a girl. What are you going to do instead, have an intelligent conversation with her? That's noble, but let's not be facetious. Onto your question. Your honest reply was given in that conversation at that time, so the truth was already communicated. No need to try and "fix" it. In the meantime, you aren't pursuing her for sex, which is understandable. Women are the ones obsessed with sex, not men. If you bring it up again, trying to backpedal what happened, you'll look like you're lying - whether you are or not - and she'll know you've been worrying about it. If she asks about it, exercise some class and tell her straight up that you would of course deliver the dick to her if she wanted it (and she wants it, trust me), but that you aren't worried about it and enjoy being with her anyways. If she doesn't believe you at that point, then it's her problem. Also, worry not about how she takes your words. If she thinks "oh I'm unattractive" then it's just further confirmation that she wants it. And she does.

Phil doesn't trust JXQ? My feewings is hurt ;_; I posted that my testing wasn't anything official. I encourage someone who can sync videos to make a test more public so we can see which way is more accurate to the console. I just decided to do the best test I knew how to do to satisfy my curiosity, instead of sitting around waiting for someone else to test it, and not believing anyone who produces results that don't agree with what I hope for.

I remember that one of the game demos was fighting a large spider thing who shot some liquid stuff at you, which went right by the screen and caused about a 1 second delay in all video. I bought the memory expansion pak only to find that this delay was still present, just at a higher resolution. That was quite annoying.

I also have that specific gamepad. It's an excellent price and so far has worked great for TASing, and the occasional non-TASing :) And I also use Joy to Key as Randil suggested - with it, I assign U+D and L+R to the back two shoulder buttons. Yay controllers! \o/

After seeing it put up against mine I am embarrassed I even tried. I really don't belong on this site. I guess wanting something and trying your hardest at it really doesn't help if you are talentless.
Two pieces of advice: 1) Keep trying if you're having fun. You're getting better each time. 2) Man the fuck up and lose this pity-party bullshit attitude. It's only hampering the progress you're making.

And how much do you think you have achieved by doing that?
I think it's good for xkeeper and others to express both their approvals and concerns on the site, even if it doesn't cause much change. Many people do this, including you moozooh, with Super Metroid and in-game time, and of course myself, who has complained more than most. We just go about it in slightly different ways / degrees. Really, we're all just bitching for the sake of it. And isn't that what's important? :D

This is technically impressive, but does get old to watch after a while. The game is just too long for its own good - TASing or otherwise.

I'd love for anyone who casually mentions that a quantum computer is some magic automatic TASing device to explain how.

The reason I prefer real-time runs to in-game runs is because as a TASer, real-time makes sense to me. Using a different system of measurement for this game seems unnecessary, even though it is a well-defined system within the game itself. I see in-game time as (inadvertantly, but conveniently) removing some of the tasks of optimizing this game - including some aspects overall route planning and lag management. So it is less impressive for me to watch an in-game aimed TAS, though very minorly so. I think it's also important to note that in-game time is only displayed in minutes. Seeing more detail requires viewing the game's RAM. So, if a run improves the in-game time of a previous run by some seconds, but not enough to change the end time's minute marker, and it is slower in real-time, should this be a candidate for obsoletion? For that case, I would say no. But if I say no for that case, then I can't say yes to the case where the in-game minute is improved, because then I feel it would be basing much of the criteria on a changed viewable time, and that conflicts directly with the notion that the frame count should be taken with a grain of salt for in-game aiming runs. Although this run has in-game timer as a goal, I do not think the way this timer works in Super Metroid coincides well with the site, which displays the time of each run based on frame count. So, I would say that this should not obsolete the previous run. However, if it is not published, I believe that an explanation should be added to the currently published movie which links to this submission. And yes, some games do use in-game time, such as Sonic. So publishing it is not out of the question. The difference here is that the community is split on the issue. Maybe an informal poll regarding the feelings for this game would be enlightening. Also, I don't like the way discussions go on this subject, so don't expect me to elaborate my thoughts, here or otherwise. (This is why I waited this long to offer my opinion) Finally, I was entertained by this run, and voted yes. Edit: I just remembered that I mentioned a few days ago that I thought both kinds should be able to obsolete each other, similar to Bionic Commando (U) and (J). But after reading this post by Warp, I am not as favorable to that idea as I was.

The reason I played it as long as I did was because there were many many people saying that it got better and it was really good once I got the hang of it, and so forth, so I kept going. In 3D games especially, I lose my sense of direction constantly. Maybe I just suck at 3D games :)

I haven't played Prime 3, nor do I own a Wii. But I will probably try it some day, I'll let you know how it goes. It may be a while though. Blublu, as the author of those criticisms of Prime 1, you may be surprised to hear that I've played through the game almost twice (couldn't beat Ridley the second time through). It's just not for me.
