I am a fellow Fruity Loops user. I've been using it since version 1.76 and I don't make shit half this good! Mostly I just write beats and silly ass stuff. I've recently gotten into making mashups (remixes) and learning to scratch with the FL Scratcher. Who needs turntables and a mixer as long as you've got an "m" key and a mouse?
First, thanks for your comments! Second, I also got myself a sample pack a while ago, which is really what makes or breaks how stuff can sound in a sequencing program like this. Although, each new version of FL seems to come with more and more samples. I'm finally getting to the point where I don't make too many beats because I've run out of samples to use, and I've been too lazy/frugal to go get some more. Some day though!

That song is pretty cool. Real nice lyrics, and cool instruments. The only thing I don't like is the sped-up choir on the hook, but I've never been a fan of that chipmunk stuff.

If acceleration is 1 pixel/frame^2, it means each frame, the velocity increases my 1 pixel/frame. So frame 1 has a velocity of 1 px/f, frame 2 has a velocity of 2 px/f, and so on. So velocity at frame x = x pixels/frame (assuming original speed of 0). You can calculate the distance travelled at frame x by adding from 1 to x. This can also be done with calculus but it's a bit of overkill for that. And now I'm rambling. So, to hopefully answer your question, a super missile will be travelling 10 px/f faster than it was 10 frames ago.

The stuff that seemed to matter the most were the movements near the end of the battle. If you can get him near the ground at the final hit, then you could experiment with position, rolling into a ball, maybe jumping too. That way, you won't be redoing the entire battle. I wouldn't grab the power bomb though. I've never actually tried it on Ridley, so I don't know how effective it is. I have a feeling it doesn't work as well as advertised, though.

Is it necessary to have a Powerbobm at ridley to make him pick you up as fast as possible?
Not to my knowledge. I just did the Ridley battle quite a few times and took the best grab I could get. It's annoyingly random.

What does v20 emulate correctly in this game that v19 doesn't? And now, I watch the run. -- Edit: And now, I'm voting yes. Really nicely done. You got those metroids to behave like a woman who knows what's good for her \o/

I enjoyed this video, but I like some of your others better. You didn't go as wild here visually as you have in the past, and that's what I like best - when you get creative with visual effects. My favorite here was for the Spazer. I also liked how you supplemented each item pickup with a small message in the corner. Great jorb!

Yeah, nevermind that Mupen doesn't emulate Blast Corps at all - it's that vendetta that's stopping me. I actually am not so amped about doing this run as I once was. The main reason is that I think a run of the entire game would get boring, especially with some levels played multiple times, but the alternative idea of playing each course after all the levels are complete (which is exactly what SDA has done for this game), isn't too appealing either. Also, there's the trick of changing the camera angle to avoid lag and get a better time. Well, with a TAS, you could zoom way out to the missile view and probably improve the time on every level. While this would be obviously lame to watch, where would the line be drawn? This technique is used a little bit in console runs to improve times. I don't know a good answer to this either. So I'm stuck at the beginning, like I was for Cool Spot. I'd also need a hardware upgrade. I also haven't had any motivation to TAS lately. My motivation is off at the bar with Brushy's motivation, drinking itself into a stupor \o/

The Zelda 2 glitched run is the only Zelda run I can stand watching.

JXQ: it's the most concise answer. Why watch vids if you know you won't like them?
It's not an answer to what he asked. He asked "Why do you guys like to do it [abuse programming errors] so much?" Your response of "Don't watch the videos" makes no sense. It's similar to when someone asks for help downloading or playing AVIs, and you respond by telling them to download the FCM/SMV/whatever. You're not answering the question they asked - you're assuming a related, but different question, and answering that instead.

In addition to Bisqwit's point, some games do have a separate appeal as a TAS when less programming errors are abused, and in many of those cases, there are multiple runs of that game. Most Legend of Zelda games fall into this category, for example. Laughing_gas, please stop posting stupid shit that doesn't answer the question you're pretending to respond to. It was old six months ago.

Colorful, great music, fast gameplay, a nice variety of powers, good style - this just kicked ass through and through.

(Yes, that conversation did take place as shown.) If you really wanted to help the progress of TASing the game as a community, then you would share your findings. If you really wanted it to be a surprise, you would have not said anything (or you would at least have shut up about it by now). But neither of these has happened. Instead, you walk this middle ground, releasing just enough information to get some attention, keeping other information for more attention in the future. What could your motives be for this behavior? I believe the time exists - I just don't give a shit.

How the hell did you do that?
By saving frames in various places, and optimizing everything to the fullest possible to make it perfect :-)

Improvements all over the board. Very impressive. I should watch this soon, although I still do not like the concept of this run all that much. I guess my 0/8 rating for the previous run was a bit too generous. Well, hindsight is 20/20.

I'm quite disappointed that this run was possible. The previous 16-star run was truly excellent - finally an N64 movie that was up to par with the rest of the site! - and now, this has removed many of the more entertaining parts by either skipping the levels, or speeding through a normally entertaining level backwards. Yawnsnake.

This is decent. I was entertained at some points, and I think it should obsolete the old run. I do think it could be more entertaining, though. There were a lot of "run to the next screen" parts, and I think the glitch was used too much, even though it reduces lag. I think a run of this game would be best as a complete playaround rather than going for speed on everything except the bosses. Anyway, my vote is meh.

A missing reset at the beginning could be an instance of this behavior I've had happen to me a few times with FCEU. I still have no clue how to reproduce it consistently, though.

Good luck with this. Here is a WIP I made long ago of the first level and bonus level on Hard (though I don't get all 100 spots in the first level, just 95, enough to go to the bonus level).

I tried for a while to skip this green gate but no success. The situation is odd; the super missile that explodes in hero's demonstrations actually goes below that series of blocks just barely. Depending on when you spark, the explosion can happen farther to the right (in mid-air), which makes me think that it's actually hitting something border related on the right, and not something above it. It sure does *look* like it should work though. Hopefully it will somehow!

Ah, this is all quite interesting. An additional thing that helps on this new route is getting the energy tank after Crocomire is a free refill. Are any of the rooms in Croco's area heat rooms? If not, then that section would pretty much be the same, except that you would have the Hi-Jump Boots already. Normally after a Norfair with Hi-Jump Boots first, not having the Hi-Jump E-Tank would make the Wrecked Ship spark impossible, but getting Kraid's E-Tank beforehand removes that concern. If it's like everything else in Super Metroid, two vastly different strategies will amount to about a three frame difference in the end, hehe.

I'm confused about this possible route change for 100%. How would this new Maridia entrance allow getting the speed booster without the Varia to be faster?
