Leave WIP1 on. That can cause desyncs if it is off. Left+right is game specific, but it won't cause goofy desyncs. If the sound doesn't suffer with the last three settings, I leave them off.

Absolute lie. As an example, many times in IRC moozooh has asked you a question about a frame number on your Ceres escape (since you refuse to show it, but have no problem touting that it's 49.15) and you gave him some condescending answer like "if you do it as fast as possible, you'll match my time :-)". Like I said, we have too many already...

Phil, shut up, you're out of your element.

No I won't. I've told you before that I think it's bullshit how secretive you are. It reminds me of the whole "pride" thing that this thread has been all about. Kind of like how you constantly remind people here that you discovered something, or that something someone else discovered was "obvious" thanks to your previous discovery... blah. This doesn't mean I won't enjoy watching your run, though. But please don't turn into another Phil, we have too many as it is. [Edit by Bisqwit: Removed offensive language. Please reword it if you want to restate what you said.] [Edit by JXQ: Reworded and restated. (The previous version was a movie quote). The previous version also was meant to be taken as a compliment to Phil. How it got misconstrued is beyond me!]

Saturn, you carefully hide your Super Metroid progress, so I would think that you are the one who is more worried about being beaten. The rest of us have been sharing what we've discovered.

Maybe it's a third-person adventurer. That makes it awesome by definition, as long as you define it as "awesome".

I don't see it as an embarrassment. The two communities aren't out to claim victories over each other anyway. This is just a case of someone from the unassisted community developing new strategies that both communities can benefit from. It happened the other way as well; inichi credited hero of the day's TAS with many of his boss strategies. Just because the overall time is faster, doesn't mean that the TAS was sloppily executed. Jaws, on the other hand...

I think the sound situation is not worth trying to solve. It's going to be unintelligible no matter how separated it is in the speakers because it's still 4 soundtracks playing at the same time.

This would be one hell of a graph theory problem. I just noticed that if you come to a solution, try it, and a ghost messes you up, you could always try its reflection along the vertical axis in the middle.

Phil, however you try to justify your actions, whether it's outright refusal with no proof, or attacking me instead of defending yourself, those actions are still detrimental to the site's goal, which you say is your goal. Since a hypocrite is "a person who professes beliefs and opinions that he or she does not hold", this is a perfect example of your behavior. You're quick to place all examples on the conflicts that are happening to you at the moment, so you're attacking me. But there are several other examples of you exhibiting this behavior in the past that aren't even related to me. This pattern was here long before I was, and it has not changed. If I say we plan on improving a movie, it doesn't mean we have specific ideas for improvement. It means we'll run through it again and see what we can find that we missed the first time. This is very different from your mocking attitude. You somehow expect me to take your taunts as a compliment?? Fuck you. Your ego is out of control.

My avatar idea is from a page on progressiveboink mentioning that there is only one red snifit in all of Super Mario Bros. 2. I actually wrote a strategy guide myself back when I was probably 7 years old, which pointed out this very same fact! (apparently, I thought it was immensely important to help become good at the game, as important as my crayon-drawn maps of 3-3 and 7-2). I've had a few variations of it. If I ever used mood avatars, I'd just come up with different quotes to use, but I don't see that happening. Also, I took the place that Bisqwit made his avatar from, and made my own:

Mr. JXQ: When I said there are minor errors, do you think I must write a novel? Because that's what I will need. When there a 50 minor errors and that it needs 20 lines or so trying to describe each of them, no, I don't want to do that.
The difference, Phil, is that you are using your phantom improvements as a means to taunt cardboard and I, to try and feel superior to us when things don't go your way. I don't expect you to write a novel, or even a complete fucking sentence, so the polite thing to do there is to just work on the improvement yourself. As I said before: If the goal is not to share the improvement with the community, the only thing left justifying this action is selfish pride of one person trying to feel better than the other (or perhaps they are just lying). Otherwise, they would keep the improvement to themselves and possibly work on an improved run. The behavior is juvenile and egotistical in any case. So your reply did not address any of this, nor did I expect it to. You simply tangented off into writing novels, and tried to pin me against my own behavior, ignoring key differences in the circumstances. Hero's entire point is that behavior such as yours stalls the overall community's goal of producing entertaining movies. If you truly had that goal, as you claim to, then you would reveal improvements so that if you do not get to them right away, someone else can take them, study them, learn from them, perhaps find more based off of them, and produce a superior movie. That is truly a community effort, and produces the best movies in the shortest time. This is a goal you claim to be for, but are obviously not based on your, once again, hypocritical actions: you keep improvements for yourself, stalling their inclusion in a movie on the site. What's worse is that you make sure that everyone knows that you thought of them, simply for your own self-recognition. This is a selfish and egotistical act that does not help the goal of the site, and makes you look like a, as hero put it, "dickhead". I know you won't take this seriously, since you and I are not and never will be on good terms, but you cannot assemble a coherent argument in English. Your words often make you look foolish, and it would be in your best interest to avoid lengthy discussions not in your native tongue.

One problem I've always had with some members here is that they are quick to point out that they know an improvement, and then refuse to elaborate. No, Phil isn't the only one I'm talking about, but he has been guilty of it on several occasions. If the goal is not to share the improvement with the community, the only thing left justifying this action is selfish pride of one person trying to feel better than the other (or perhaps they are just lying). Otherwise, they would keep the improvement to themselves and possibly work on an improved run. The behavior is juvenile and egotistical in any case.

That last one should be possible, it's similar to what I did in 3-9(?) of the SMB3 warpless run. You'll just need to duck when you go through that initial corner, that way Mario's position is in the block instead of above it, and you'll be pushed to the left right until there is no ground underneath you.

I don't understand what you mean by your last sentence, could you reword it? Edit: I think I got it after a few re-reads. To answer your question: No.

I still think a rationale would be appropriate and courteous, but you obviously disagree since you avoided the question. At least I tried.

Boco makes a valid point, despite exaggerating it to the point of fucktarded. Either way, I would appreciate the rationale of the removal. I think this is just a courtesy to the audience, since the stars are decided by one person. Lastly, though mostly unrelated: Cardboard and I plan on improving this run at some point in the future.

In regards to the run; I found it very entertaining. Sure, Michael Fried is going to complain that this number isn't quite as high as it could be, but I think the audience of the site as a whole will enjoy this movie. Nice job, Weatherton. In regards to Comicalflop, I have read through your posts with an open mind. And now I say that you are acting like a little bitch. I had a feeling before all this that a huge motivator for you was self-recognition. I derived this from the fact that you seemed to go out of your way on many occasions to mention: 1) How difficult something was to optimize, but that you were still going to do it! (see: OoT 100%) 2) How much others are anticipating something you are working on (see: userpage) 3) Anything to keep your project forum active, even when no progress has been made (see: MK64, here are some examples) Now this belief has been confirmed by you. It's no secret that I both can't identify with this attitude and detest it from others. And you accused me of run ownership? Here's something else I'm wondering - if Weatherton is finding all the shortcuts (macro-optimizing) and Michael Fried is finding all the tiny timesavers (micro-optimizing), then what the hell is comicalflop doing besides making a livejournal out of this forum and asking for creds™? Edit:
