Fabian and I just would do some levels, and e-mail back and forth to review each other's stuff. (It would be tough to meet and TAS since we live on opposite sides of the Atlantic) It worked well because Fabian is very good at thinking up crazy entertainment with shells and other objects, and I was able to find some time-saving ideas and glitches with some of the special items. Also, both of those movies are in the process of being improved. Edit: And yes, Fabian's 96-exit obsoleted VIPer7's.

If you are saving it as an animated-gif, then uploading that animated-gif to another place to host...then I'm not sure why it would stop being animated.

Encouragement comes in many forms ;) But seriously, if you hadn't complained so much about Marble 1 the first time around, I may not have had as much motivation to search for those improvements this time, so at the end of the day it's a good thing.

<JXQ> However, the chances of that happening are slim when the page explaining how to encode things comes across like a condescending jackass (“spoon-fed instructions”). Whoa, now the encoding instructions are TOO EASY? :o This is a first.
This wasn't what I meant to imply. To me, they seem like they are written from the perspective that everyone should know a lot more about encoding than the average site user does. To those who don't know this information, it has the impression of "well, you should already know this". For example, there is a section detailing how the subtitled should appear on the AVI, but not a word on a possible method to insert these subtitles into an AVI.

That page basically documents tricks that require frame advance or other TAS tools / concepts. With that one, however, it is doable, but you can't manipulate Mario to always face the opposite direction, so it's not too reliable.

Jason l.b aka longname: I just have two compression programs for png - advpng and pngout. I run them both, they seem to do slightly different types of compression. Check this page for details: http://tasvideos.org/HowToMakePNG.html

Of course, these numbers are probably highly inaccurate, but I’m going by people who actually put their location in their profile.
I haven't filled in my location. For the record, I'm not from Sweden, but I sure would like to be.

What is half-publisher? If it consists of linking torrents of someone's encode, adding a compressed screenshot, and typing up a nice description, then I might do well with that role. If it also involves checking AVI's for quality, then....probably not so much my field of expertise. (And, since Maza is a publisher now, I guess it's a moot point.)

It could speed up publishing a bit if Players included a screenshot and a description of the run which can go on the main page in their submission text. Kudos to JXQ for usually supplying such info on his submissions.
One of my motivators for that is that it increases the chances of myself liking the screenshot ;) In all seriousness, others might see that as a good reason to supply screenshots as well.

Good thing I made the other thread, since it was quoted, and then responded to here. Good thing I made it clear that it wasn't Nach I was attacking, it was the "encoding and publishing issues", as that thread was titled, since Nach thinks it "isn't true". Good thing I made it clear this had nothing to do with your download speed, since you still say that's what I'm complaining about. The world isn't out to get you, Nach. And if this has really irritated you so much, don't feel obligated to encode my movies anymore. THIS DOESN'T MEAN I'M REQUESTING THAT YOU DON'T. It means that if it's really such a hastle, I don't want you to feel obligated by me. I could give a flying fuck if my runs were turned into AVIs or not. Also, respond to this in the appropriate thread and stop fucking this one up.

Well let it be known that I do appreciate your efforts, as well as other encoders, but that doesn't mean there aren't any problems in the process, which is why I posted at the other thread (and I have been feeling that way for much longer than this incident). I apologize for jumping to conclusions on why you encoded an already encoded movie. However, this doesn't change my feelings in the other thread.

I thought it was fun. Not all arguing is inherently bad. Also, you can't be the only person to have won that award :)

We've all got our idiosyncracies. It depends on how well you can take them being poked fun at. For example, if someone gave me an award for "Complains the most", I don't think I could deny it. A fun reply would be that SwedishMartini gets the award for "Masturbating over Bisqwit's TAS accomplishments". Then the tennis match of fun begins! I wonder what that trophy would look like...
