I took the time to not only watch this run but the *96 run by Fabian and the *120 run of Super Demo World by you, JXQ, and Fabian recently and I have to say that this run not only obseletes the published, shortest route run with a difference of variety but it also wrecks the game as I used to know it. Such nice work from the both of ya. I'll rate this as I see it because voting is useless at this point. Great work improving on such a title that has already been pushed so damn far.
Sweet! I'm glad you enjoyed this movie, and the others as well :) The other two runs you speak of are both in the process of being improved (not by me), so you'll have more to watch then, too!

Hahahaha! Very nice. I seriously did enjoy the previous S3&K more from a "entertaining video" standpoint. But I also dislike the Mega Man runs that are similarly abusive, so insert grain of salt.

It all depends on the point you want to get across. A commentary on a more serious game that is better suited for a TAS would probably not have as much time available to make fun of the game, and would be better spent explaining things or telling stories about parts that were especially difficult or rewarding during the making of the run. Personally I think that kind of commentary would be difficult to make interesting.

I'm seeding it currently, and it shows someone connected but it's transferring at 0 Kb. Cardboard has also been seeding, so I dunno.. :\

Hahaha what a strange game!! Very colorful, and some relaxing music. I had no clue what was going on most of the time, which is good. I have one question - what determines when the boss battles start?

Thanks guys! There's a torrent to the avi with commentary included, if you are interested, that way you don't have to worry about them going out of sync.

So that's why we keep Bag around. It's neat hearing some of these tunes in stereo. If you put a space between the ! and the title in your submission, it will put a header.

Yeah I feel ya. Kind of a bummer though cuz this was one of the few N64 games I really enjoyed, though I never got into speedrunning it (except getting the cheat codes).

Wouter, the difference is that we are telling you why lookdown will make it boring for us to watch, whereas you are telling us why it shouldn't be boring for us to watch (instead of why it's entertaining for you to watch). And of course you don't have to change how you run the game, since you're the author. It's just discussion, the point of a forum. You'd get people bitching at you if you didn't use lookdown, either. It sucks that the N64 games are programmed so shitty compared to the systems before them because it opens up strange ways like this to gain minimal time, which I think will make the majority of N64 runs boring to watch.

If you're still playing, can you make a savestate and post it? That might give a slight clue for someone who is more familiar with the game than I.

I've used the word fake when I describe these runs to others that aren't sure what TASing is. If they inquire farther, then I explain the process, and that it's not technically "fake". I'm pretty sure I used the word "fake" when I first saw SMB3, though I wasn't sure exactly how it was constructed at the time. Fake is just an easy, quick explanation that will tide over the less curious.

This is pretty asinine - saying what should and shouldn't bother others, and calling them noobs if they don't see things the same way you do.

zurreco totally misses the point. the tas won't lose any entertainment from it as long as your brain just views it the way we do. I could say any of the starred runs or with a moon aren't entertaining, because I don't enjoy something or whatever reason.
Come on. You say the TAS won't lose entertainment, then go on to say that any run could potentially be unentertaining if something isn't liked. And yes, any run can potentially be un-entertaining to individuals. Great point saying that since you don't think it loses entertainment, Zurreco misses the point. He has a different opinion than you do. It could be said that you are missing the point with equal validity.
and if lookdown is used, it's a section that was boring without it in the first place.besides being faster, lookdown also makes the boring parts smaller.
I thought lookdown was to reduce lag minimally, meaning that what you're missing probably has more action going on than the FLOOR. Additionally, go watch 20 seconds of action, and then 19.5 seconds of floor, and see which one feels longer. Edit: Clarity

Well atleast you can morph into like ermac and such and they have fatalities in this version. Cyrax's destroy the earth fatality is also mandatory for this run.
I thought that was Smoke's (robot) fatality.

It's interesting to see how the "when to end" questions arose. The site automatically lists times to movies based on the emulator file, rather than the resulting AVI (for obvious reasons). If endings were precisely cut off at a common point (when comparing the same game), and that time was used, the whole issue would be pretty much null, but that's much more laborsome, and I think unnecessary. I think it would look sloppy to have a big delay between the fifth and sixth hit just to gain some null frames that don't bring the ending of the game any sooner.

Watch the ESRB recall the rating because there are violent spaceships inside the game that are accessible by using a third party device.

This game absolutely bites. The graphics are bad, the sound is very shitty on the emulator, and the fatalities are gimmicky and cartoonish. The play is not bad, but there's only so much to do here. The combos used get old because the combo system basically puts everyone on the same level. The infinite juggles are, well, boring to me. There were some nice touches, but overall I'm voting no.

Vatchern: <3 How far along are you? Re: Glitch definition: It'd be tough to agree on this completely as a community, or even for some individuals to come up with clear definitions. With Vatchern already started, I'd say it's best for him to continue according to whatever rules he set himself, instead of defining rules and saying anyone who TAS's Rockman w/o glitches must follow those rules.
