Phil's name is being used for other achievements as well: Will they stop at nothing?

What the hell, your account got deleted, okay, but all your previous posts did as well? Lame. Fucking LAME. I hope my posts don't disappear if my account is ever inactive. Or my submissions, for that matter. Oh well, glad to see you back and kicking ass once again! I'm going to watch your run now.

Overall I liked this run. There were decisions the author made that I obviously would have made differently (since I made those decisions differently when I ran the game), but the only one that actually bugged me was not hitting Robotnik one last time at the end. I really enjoyed the second half a bit more since I got to compare it against my run, and it was cool seeing myself be obsoleted. Anyway, the minor differences aren't enough to stop entertainment for me, so I vote yes.

LOL Fabian and my schedules worked really well. I worked nights, and he has that awesome sleeping schedule of "whenever". It also helped that he liked playing newer levels more, and I liked replaying levels to find more optimizing. We started that run in August and finished in November, I think. The exact length is somewhere in that massive submission text. I also hope to return to beast-like status soon, in regards to TASing, but damn, nitsuja's a well-oiled machine compared to me.

Thanks for your comments everyone! I don't like much commercial rap myself, unless the lyrics are very above-average, or about an unconventional subject. Bisqwit: There are lyrics to the songs available, if you are interested in figuring out what the songs might say. But I would think that it wouldn't be the same as picking up on the lyrics while listening. Greginator: I suppose I agree with you, as I think of lyrics as my strength and production as my weakness. It's much more difficult (for me, anyway) to be original with production and still keep familiar qualities than it is for me to do the same with my lyrics. And I do agree that I go out of my way to avoid mainstream sounds, for the most part. That can work to my advantage, because it forces more originality, and also my disadvantage, because having nothing familiar can be alienating. So it's a trade-off of sorts.

Zurreco: I wasn't aiming for generic, but I do prefer short titles. It's tougher to be non-generic with one or two words. DK64: Thanks! There are video game references in a few of the songs. And I'm not interested in getting signed, I just like working on music. I talk about that more on the "Learn the history" page on the site.

Here are some links to music that I've done. Myself - album finished in 2008, available at CDBaby. New site - I will be putting more free tracks here pretty soon (and on a more consistent basis), and discussing things about music that interest me, and hopefully help or inform others who are interested in similar things. If you're interested, check the links out. Apparently there is an RSS feed that came with the software, but I have no idea how to use one of those. So I don't know if it works or not! Anyway, thanks for listening!

It's because you have some "00" in the hex code, which, unlike the other emulators, means every button is pressed, rather than none. So you've paused the game at that point. I'm guessing you were inserting frames. Instead, use "FF". I had a savestate that started at SL2 and it worked fine from there. Edit: I just tried hex-editing your file, by replacing the zero's between 290A7 and 290B7 with F's, and the movie synced all the way through Scrap Brain 1.

The metadata is stored near the beginning in the FCM file and can be altered directly without having to convert to FMV. The details of the format are at FCM.html. Since you have a backup FCM, you compare the two files and tweak things until the data is correct. Another thing you may notice that your new FCM is much smaller. This is because nesmock (at least, some versions) removes an unneeded savestate that is present even in reset-based movies. (Edited for some clarity)

Is an expression using less than or greater than technically an equation? Since less than / greater than are "inequalities", I'm inclined to think relationships using them aren't equations. But if they are allowed in this question, you could just say X+Y > X+Y, which is always false. Edit: Hmm, seems I combined the two questions here into one brand new, unrelated, utterly useless question!

You never know. It all depends on the author. Sometimes someone can do in 260 rerecords what another needs 1942 rerecords to do. Amazing stuff, really.

You should hex-edit anything at the beginning as early as possible because it may desync later, and that would mean less overall work to redo. For FCM, converting to FMV is the way to go with hex-editing, because FCM's format is not straightforward one-byte to one-frame like FMV is.

It would probably be good for this site. But I think it would be a hassle trying to keep it organized, especially with the site's slowness, bugginess, and lack of ability to get the powers-that-be over there to do all that much. Also, remember that if you put your real name in the e-mail to them, they will display it on the page of the movie you are trying to remove. If you don't want this (and think it's ridiculous that they do this while ignoring all e-mails you send demanding that it be removed), then give them a fake name.

The closest we get is, "This guy pulls off some shat...." That is 270,000 potential new viewers and users who could easily help contribute to and enjoy many other videos at this site. I am going to attempt to get YouTube to either remove this video or add information linking to tasvideos.
Here's how to do that. My opinion is that youtube is the Myspace of the video sites (this is a bad thing). Nothing works with any consistency. I couldn't even make a comment without getting some "error". And the e-mail help service is a joke. What an age we live in.

I don't remember that jump being more complex for me than many others throughout that zone. Act 2 was much more picky, especially during the sine-wave portion just before jumping over the giant wall. And who knows? You may improve it by trying it instead of copying :) Either way, I would think it would be faster to just record it yourself than finding a hex-editor, finding the frames, pasting, checking for a sync, possibly adjusting, etc... http://tasvideos.org/HexEditing.html This page has a link to some suggested hex-editors, I believe.

I think it is disrespectful because you're banalizing Jesus's power. The miracles He did were for the glorification of God, not just to show off. Such "jokes" only "promote" Jesus as some sort of magician or source of entertainment, when His purpose was to reconcile us to God.
This is a very good point. I only question the link between promoting Jesus as a "magician" meaning we are not recognizing the true intent of his miracles. I see how it could be seen from both sides now, though.

I have a question. Take the following phrase: "This pizza is so good, it tastes like it was hand-tossed by Jesus himself." Do you think this is disrespectful to Jesus? If so, why? If not, why not? I personally do not see disrespect in this statement. It is referencing Jesus's ability to work miracles and superhuman feats to put an exaggeration about the tastes of a food. I actually see a statement like this to be in good faith and "promoting" Jesus, if you will. (Couldn't think of a better word) Oh, glorifying would be a better word, I think. Discuss?

Interestingly, you could use the Bible to back up agreeing with this prediction as well. Jesus said that sin and false religion would increase as the second coming drew near. Organized religion nearly disappearing would definitely fall into that category.

I disagree. It hasn't disappeared yet, it has only grown into more and more denominations since its beginnings. Why would it stop now?
