Strange, I'm seeding right now, just no one is downloading from me. I think HG is also seeding.

Keyjump, I am your father. Keyjumping is my favorite discovery in all the TASing I've done.

Can you change horizontal momentum in mid-air? If so, some of your earlier jumps could avoid bumping into the wall before reaching enough air. The length of time between boss hits seems to vary; that may be improvable as well. But overall, I was moderately entertained. His sword grew three sizes that day.

That room gave birth to keyjumping. Don't hate the playa, playa hater, hate the game! Oh, you are. Well then, proceed.

The only one I know of is kornbluth, and it does the same thing. Lamenting sigh. Perhaps it will work tomorrow.

Regardless of whether or I consider a switch palace a power-up or not, I just think that it's a lot more entertaining to watch Mario shell bop or walljump his way to a far-off platform than to jump on existing, stationary platforms.

So you really think a goal of "completes every possible goal as small mario except for switch palaces" will fly around this site (I'm not saying it won't)? Can you say "akward"?
Why bother splitting hairs with semantics, or worrying about what "flies" on this site? Make an entertaining enough movie, and the community will demand its publication.

Are you kidding me? What on Earth will completing four more switch palaces do for this run? Add four levels that bring nothing extra to the run, and make other levels potentially less entertaining. If you don't have crazy antics like SW4 and SW5, this run is not worth watching. Watch the regular run instead. You can't say that the term "speedrun" matters when you are already putting such a game-changing restriction is being placed. Your selling point is that you are doing things in a different way. Do it fast, yes, but don't give up your meat and potatoes to do so.

Speaking of IRC, does anyone know what "Connection forcefully rejected" might mean? IRC won't let me on for a few hours now :(

The entertainment in a small-only run would lie in the crazy circumstances that still allow level completion. Like skamastaG said, switch palaces would ruin Star World 4. Yoshi would ruin a level like CI3 (I think). We've all seen levels beat with switch palaces, or yoshis, or capes. TASes are supposed to produce entertainment, which is often done by doing the unexpected.

Awesome. I just cannot set up that damn shell scenario to save my life. Maybe you should try SW4 with that same technique, the way you suggested me to try before, but that I couldn't do due to shell setup.

Hopefully I've done this right. Here is a link to a torrent which I'm currently seeding of this avi file with commentary. I'd like to thank Bisqwit for letting me use his tracker for this file. I'll seed it as much as I can, but my upload is quite slow, and I turn my computer off sometimes. But this should work better than other ideas. (Filefront still gives me the zero-byte file error, even when I tried to put this 27k torrent on there (which, when zipped, becomes 28k, lol).)

Here's the best I could do on Chocolate Island 3 small. It's so close it's painful, but the only way I can think to make it farther is to do the shell juggling initiating at the edge so the first shell is higher up when it starts falling to the right. If that was possible (and also appropriate speeds could be kept), then the jump should be makeable. In slightly related news, jimsfriend's latest idea for Star World 5 small proved to be successful.

Sky World 2 & 2b could both be improved from this trick (or just the left+right cloud trick, though barely). I don't think it would improve Sky Star World, though, if I'm remembering the position of the cloud correctly. Edit: Greginator replied while I was lazily typing, so I basically repeated him.

I was just talking to Fabian the other day about what would happen when we run out of good games to TAS.
<Fabian_> eventually we'll end up with "non-fireflower no switch palace only complete every other big boo world exit no dragon coins only kill enemies with spinjumps SDW"
I don't think is very entertaining, myself. But I wish you luck with it.

My upload is 256k. Lame. I'm not sure how to start a torrent, although it's probably trivial. If someone can let me know, then I can try it, although I can't guarantee that my computer will always be on to seed.

The advantage with only one audio track is decreased space. However, I don't have the desire to have both AVIs, so this isn't a solution to those who do. And the current encoding crap is complicated enough to me, and I was hardly into it. I can only imagine the craptacular job I'd do at something like mkv and 2 sound channels. Edit: I also tried FileFront last night, and it consistently didn't work. The site kept telling me that I was trying to upload a zero-byte file.

I don't understand why this wouldn't obsolete the former run. Runs of this game are to show off luck manipulation, which is all based on when the player inputs what. Once the input is no longer needed, the luck has been manipulated.

For now, can't you use rapidshare/filefront/megaupload? Then someone with experience with bittorrent (not me) can set up a torrent.
Will any of these services allow such a large file? I think the highest limit is 100 MB.
