jimsfriend, you mentioned another idea for SW4 you weren't sure if it was possible. Do you want me to try out an idea for you? (Nothing comes to mind for me, except one idea that needs the green switch, which makes it lame by default)

To me, it would be annoying having to do the cape levels over and over hoping to get optimal flight speed. So have fun with that! How will it be determined as to which switch palaces will be activated for each level?

another much more interesting one with 100% soul collecting, and more warps (that could not be included in this run).
How is this run progressing?

Ah, game violence before the ESRB stepped in and ruined all the fun. Bionic Commando, anyone? The vote count is the same as before..? But anyway, I'm glad you liked it :)

Well here I am all excited cuz I got it to work and...yeah. Anyway, blah. Had fun with A-button = gravity switch also. And the beginning is the same as bobxp's since I didn't feel like doing the code. As far as time-optimized, I don't think it would make a good official submission, because you could always debug through lots of walls to make it faster.

I no longer have the savestate, but in Hydro City zone, by messing around with debug-mode on one of the bobbing-rotating platforms, you can put Sonic into a mode where he rapidly goes through all his possible frames of animation. I'll try to reproduce it. I believe it was in Sonic 3 that I did it. (Not S3&K)

Yes, Gens has frame advance. Although at this point, I am confused about exactly what you want to hex-edit where, I'm still positive that it would be faster to just make a back-up, try your new idea, and compare which is faster by using the frame counter.

If you try it yourself (by studying his run of the stage rather than direct copying), you may be able to save even more time by trying out different things, like the one you suggested. And hex-editing from anywhere besides between levels in this game is probably a losing proposition.

I removed the following tags from this movie (although it isn't quite showing up yet) Manipulates luck Abuses programming errors The first is actually done, but so rarely that it doesn't need emphasis placed on it. The second...I can't think of what might qualify as a programming error. Perhaps the keybox on BackDoor Star World, but again...not enough for emphasis needed, I don't think.

Really, the FAQ is the best source of hex-editing info. But in this case, it's probably faster for you to just redo that special stage.

I never disagreed with this :) Although it's kind of like watching Frasier and Niles get into a fight.

500$ is expensive but just wait some years and let tons of games come out then buy the system used or refurbished, simple as that.
1) If everyone does this, these good games will not have a chance to come out. 2) Sony's systems habitually need to be refurbished anyway, with their outstanding quality control. I agree with the video, don't waste your money. Also that video is hilarious!!11!

Good point. I think I will hire someone to kidnap me at gunpoint sometime in the next week to increase my adrenaline. I pictured this post being much more clever, but it kind of sucked. Oh well, I'm keeping it anyway.

I'm not saying this is obsoleting a SNES version. But I can't understand why one would want to watch a SNES Doom TAS when a PC Doom TAS is available?

Aren't there already tool-assisted runs from the PC version of Doom? It may be unnecessary to run the game on a version with such large hardware handicaps.

Although I think this was a joke, no it's not obligatory. Additionally, a big "fuck you" is in order to everyone who keeps this stupid trend going.

This is the weirdest game I've seen in a while. The woman with the entire population of Earth's spiders insider her was strange. The enemy ghost with the fork and knife was just funny. The Klan member residing in church was goofy - and it was goofier when he kidnapped you into the giant pumpkin's mouth. But the girl who attacks you with both the wooden chairs and HER OWN DISATTACHED HEAD was the best. As you can probably tell, I was entertained by the game. The playing seemed excellent for the most part. I'm not sure a few of the bosses were optimal, but I'm not sure if they die after a certain amount of enemies are killed or just after a certain amount of time has passed. Anyway, I vote yes. WINNERS DON'T USE DRUGS! (just tool-assistance)

This game gets my vote for both "lamest death animation" and "worst sound effects". It also gets my vote for "yes", mostly because of the rampant death abuse.
