Sorry to bump this topic, but since it's here... That last WiP speedrun take I saw -- the complete first area -- needs some improvement in that you sometimes lose a few frames you could've used to keep going if you'd kept moving instead of busting open pots or enemies for Ryo, but all and all, that's some damned fine playing. I'd love to see this completed, glitches or not.

Here's a thought... Would the MegaDrive version of this game be any less laggy? I haven't checked if there's a discussion for this there already, but it's just a thought.

I love you, OgreSlayeR. Alright, so now that that's out of my system... I dunno if this would be any help at all to you, but you might be familiar with this plugin that changes the Analog control into mouse movements and adds Keyboard support to games. Um...DarkMan's Input? I forget. Anyway, it's used primarily for first-person shooters(Goldeneye 007, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Doom 64...), but I played with it a little bit, and wouldn't'cha know it? You can actually program it to work as a mouse-only controller suitable to playing Starcraft 64 and Command & Conquer 64! Give it a looksie, mate. It may help your speed run. Or...it may hinder it. I dunno... Playing Command & Conquer 64 with a mouse seemed a whole lot better to me, at least.

Ah hah!! Ah hah, I say!! I just made the connection!! This song, "Polar 240," sounds remarkably like the song "Cross Your Heart", the Stage 1 theme from the arcade game Haunted Castle/[/i]Akumajou Dracula[/i]! I don't know why it took me so long to make the connection... Probably because I couldn't remember how "Cross Your Heart" went, I guess. MIDI versions for comparison. Thanks for trying, y'all. I'll get outta your hair for another few months now. XD

...you serious? 'cause I recall hearing the original version of that song in a video game...

Sorry to revive this really old topic, but I'd love to see this game done! It's a rather startling depature from the rest of the series(in that you have an inventory system), it's got a great soundtrack, and it's just plain a lot of fun to play.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDu4o1Nzr7w Could someone help me figure out what song this is a remix of? I can't, for the life of me, figure it out. It's driving me crazy... Grr...

I'm kind'a groggy right now, but anything I'd say, someone else above me has already said. Several someone elses, in fact. So let's cut to the chase. My Vote: Yes Reasons: See most of the posts on the first page. Anything Else?: Nope.

Quite positive. My patience for this sort'a thing is kind'a low, truth be told. So doing the shortest game(and possibly getting the ball rolling a little faster on the other related speed-runs) is probably my best bet. Plus, I'm not in this to be "The Best Wily Tower Tool-Assisted Speed-Runner". I just wanna move things along a little. In fact, if I finish this and it gets published, I'd want someone to beat it. I'm just odd like that... Oh, and 'fore I forget, I've already comprised the best weapon selection for Wily Tower anyway, as well as recording all the bosses weaknesses, strengths, and moves. So I figure...why not?(Disregarding the whole "SRAM" issue.)

Alright, so... I'm sure, if you've been keeping track of my posts, you might think this is a request. Surprisingly, you'd be wrong! This topic is to announce that I am going to try and do a tool-assisted speedrun of Wily Tower from Rockman Megaworld! Now I know some of you are thinking, "How is that even possible? Rockman Megaworld doesn't save right and starting from a Save State is completely against policy!" Then again, I'm sure some of the older and more knowledgable of you are also entirely aware of the Alternate Dump for Rockman Megaworld which does allow saving. Obviously, that's the one I'm going to be using. Let's get some info up here, shall we?: The storyline for Rockman Megaworld goes something like... Dr. Wily built a time machine and went back into the past to retry his first three schemes. Rockman somehow found a way back as well and stopped him. As it turns out, re-enacting his old schemes was just a ploy this time around, for while this was going on, he built three deadly 'droids made exclusively to destroy Rockman. Enter the Mega World Corps: MWN-001, Buster Rod-Gokuu. With his extending battle staff and monkey magic, he'll run circles around Rockman before he even knows what hit 'im! MWN-002, Mega Water-Sagoya. Water and waves are the powers of this particular robot. A flood of fury and a flurry of harpoons await Rockman! MWN-003, Hyper Storm-Hakkai. Strength and wind surround this tank-like robot.(Particularly wind.) Can Rockman possibly survive against this brick wall of a Battle Android?! Additionally, should Rockman survive this, he'll have to face the perils of Wily Tower, Wily's latest fortress! All and all, the game is short, but fun. I think my Speed Run is gonna be entertaining if I can pull it all together... And just to prove I wanna at least start on it, here's Buster Rod-G's stage. No damage, very light treading, only one shot missed, and a tiny bit of lag in one area. I also didn't nail Buster Rod right on his vounerable frames for a couple of shots... Sorry. Wily Tower Speed-Run, v0.43(All Mega World Corps Stages) IMPORTANT NOTICE: Use "Rockman Megaworld [a1] [!].bin" ONLY. This was also recorded using GENS Movie v9f. Not sure how huge a difference that makes, honestly. ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTICE: You absolutely have to use this SRAM for the movie to play correctly. ...well, or any SRAM that has Wily Tower open in the first slot, but untouched, I guess. *shrugs* Edit: Updated April 3rd with other two Mega World Corps stages.

This...is the best thing I have seen today. And it's 100%, too! The only things I would possibly change are the random map-looks(unless that effects some random events or something). My Vote: Yes Why?: It's flawless. I can't see any real screw-ups, despite looking very hard. The aforementioned random map-looks(and I don't mean switching weaponry around) are the only thing I'd change. Plus...you found a use for the Death Beam glitch! That's total bonus points in my opinion! Anything Else?: Nothing I can think of.

It desynched... Badly. >_o What the smack? I'm using the exact same ROM, even though the filename is just "RockMan X2.GBC". It desynchs after the conversation with Zero. X ends up trying to climb the wall, but just kind of bounces around after that.

I dunno about this movie. It's flawless in every aspect, except for one. No, not the matter of the SRAM thing. That's perfectly fine in this case.(Call it an "appendenture" to the original submission.) No, what I'm talking about is the fact that you used a glitch that was a little above your average glitch. I'm not too sure about the Cathedral glitch being alright... I'm probably just being paranoid, though. Despite my worries, I'm gonna vote Yes. My Vote: Yes Why?: 'cause as far as I can see, it's as flawless as possible. The two boss fights didn't take long at all and the final battle with Graham was kind of fun to watch, despite its length. Anything Else?: Nothing I can think of.

Sorry to bump such an old topic, but I, too, would enjoy seeing something like a Super Star Wars set of tool-assisted speedruns. The games are so badly put together, it wouldn't surprise me if they had an immense amount of exploitable glitches and flukes that would make this series of damned hard games fun to watch.

Here's a fun fact: This movie plays all the way up to Stage 2 if you use the "Trevor Belmont" hack of Dracula X. I was hoping for a miracle, but I guess there are actual dialogue changes that prevent the movie from synching correctly.(Which is logical considering you're playing as Fake Ralph complete with bleeding Bone Cross.)

Well, it does play like a brand new game. I mean, you have a two-person party system now, and you can play as either the Boy or the Girl! Plus, they carried over the spell and weapon-levelling systems from the "later" games into this one. So basically, it's a bit like what would happen if someone ROM-hacked Seiken Densetsu II with Seiken Densetsu's storyline, enemies, events, and miscellanious junk. Besides. Someone played through Metroid Zero Mission... Why not this one? =P

Truly a precursor to some MMORPGs, The 7th Saga puts you in the role of one of seven different warriors on a quest to retrieve various crystals from around the world in order to do whatever it is that character intends to do. Seven different characters, some teaming up, some fighting others... This game was kind of fruitless, but it was fun. That's why I wanna see this speedrunned.

And I say unto you, "Why not?" We've already got the original version done, and dare I say, done very well. I'm sure the remixed version has a buttload of stuff you could use to make it a quick speedrun. Plus, I'm too lazy to play through the game myself, despite the very awesome arranged music and Seiken Densetsu 2-style graphics. So...who's up for it? Also, if this topic already exists, go ahead and lock this and redirect me to the existing topic so I can bump it. :x

I'm torn between re-Mehing and voting No. I was afraid I'd feel guilty before, but after reading Sir VG's posts, I don't think I'd feel all that bad anymore... I wasn't honestly impressed, either, but like Sir VG, I'm not much of a fighting game expert. I just know that this is played fairly well, to say the least.

Alright then. My Vote: Meh. Reason Being: I didn't find it very entertaining, but then again, after that Zangief run, I dunno if that's very fair... So, instead of voting "No," I voted "Meh".

I vote No on this simply because of the fact I saw some slip-ups in this movie that could have been avoided. One happened in Stage 2, and I think another might've happened in Stage 5', but I'd have to watch the movie again to be absolutely sure...(I watched this a couple days ago.) Yes, I know Nightcom didn't play Stages 1 through 4, but if he had, he might've improved on Dan's work.

I wasn't aware, actually. Thanks for pointing that out. And nicely done, Walker. Deluge and Long Sword made a very deadly combo, apparently.

Of course it could work. The main question, however, is "Would it be entertaining for everyone, or just the so-called 'hardcore gamers' out there?" This coming from a guy who's actually gone to the trouble to beat the game using only the Dragon Sword and melee moves, I can't honestly say. I found playing the game like this tremendously fun, but for a speed-run? I dunno. If anyone wants to pick this up, they're more than welcome to, of course... On another note, I'll watch this speed-run later and cast my official vote, instead of being anal about the "00 Shuriken" thing. As a critic of all things speed-run, I should really be more open to all types of speed-runs. Just that turning the Shurikens to 00 seems a little pointless when there's a 5 Shuriken power-up right there at the start. But that's just my opinion...

Nope, that's everything. And I've never beaten Banjo-Kazooie(...yet...), so if the game doesn't just let you keep going after you beat Gruntilda or whomever's the final boss, starting from the save game wouldn't be worth the time, in retrospect. Heh. Oh, and for the record, you're wrong about the Jiggies thing. You only have to open up all the levels[/i]. You don't have to get all Jiggies, Notes, and otherwise to get the Stop 'n Swap items. Or so I've heard...

Ker-buuuu--revival!! Yeah, instead of posting a new topic, I figured it'd be easier to just revive this one. I'm highly interested in seeing a speed-run of Faxanadu. This happens to be one of my all-time favorite games, in fact. Thus, anything related to it -- unused enemies, items, ROM hacking, speed runs... -- excites me greatly! Is anyone still fiddling with this by chance? I'd be greatly disappointed if no one's still trying to make a speed-run of this great game...
