I liked this movie on the first half, and the "fatalities", it is repetitive then, but I find some of Combo's combos to be quite fun to watch, .. I voted Yes, but I wanted to be the first Meh vote,... >_>
And then I saw this already published run with Spinal (don't they have standards for giving bad names??), and.. he takes hits, it's not perfect, although it has more variation, I liked this one just a little more, strangely õ_o .......... or, I don't really care about this game and find it quite ridiculous, but the movie being ridiculous, gets the work done somehow, ... fitting, I guess, ... so, ..
Where do I see this game's endings? They're funny >_>
(ok, that was unrelated, but)

I'm voting Yes because I didn't know there was a way that you could finish the game without saving Chris nor Barry õ_o and because of the entertainment I had on some parts, .. xP

I'm replying to the topic before watching because it looks a lot like my submission on the 're-record count' category ... I try to be a decent TASer, but fail on the lack of extreme optimization and frame-accurate movements... I'm watching this for the same reason you worked on it, (yeah, childhood favorite / want to see how fast) .. so, I'll have a good opinion on the run as soon as possible .. +D
EDIT: you chose standard instead of advanced, that's not picking the hardest mode.. O_o

Though there is already a SNES version that knows how to interpret the answers, ... I really would watch a "Family Feud 2 - Now on Mega Drive" version, if (and that's a big if) the TASer can elaborate all new phrases and still be as funny as the 1st one ...
... it has to be like the movie Terminator 2, which is a sequel, and better than the first movie =P

I said it because I found this movie on the archive and commented to myself: "This would be so much better with SMS's set of music, these crappy ones are horrible." .... XD
Well, the version with more TASing glitches is preferrable, ... and I don't remember if 'music' was a good argument for choosing a version instead of another....
Who would people believe anyway? A Skilled Player, and Editor, or just a .... *let me see what I am ...* ... Active Player that just popped up from nowhere? Go you +D
(I like TASes no matter what consoles are used, .. but NES and GB really are the glitchiest..) xP

1).. Damage is one per stage, .. maybe better spots can be used, the ones I used were just humanly good choices... xP
2) I know it can, but.. +D
3) I know there is, but.. +D
4) All three paths are auto-scrollers, I just did it like this because.. +D
2-3-4) .. this was more like human playing with frame advance and one save slot .. I had this really great curiosity about what the game would show in the end when taking 0 power stars, and it turned out as a decent start for a real Land of Illusion TAS, which obviously can be improved, as I didn't put much thought on some details (actually all after craggy cliff is a little sloppy and hurried up) =P
I believe I can continue working on the optimised version, but there is one detail I didn't think through in any WIP yet ... how to dance to the music? If I'm frame advancing, I'm not listening to the normal speed music, I can just have an idea of what's being played, ... well, this could add over 9000 re-records of music testing,... xP
5) Yes.. =P
EDIT:
re1) I'll be re-testing events if I can, like seeing if he goes up enough when taking damage, trying to break laws of physics in up-down walls or water, and even attempting to not shrink and go through tunnels, I'm already testing and could gain 37 frames redoing the first stage, gained frames on the first sparrow-screen transition, less ducking at the gust, and discovered that I can make Mickey pose when ending a stage if I make him hit the wall and press the opposite side, he leaves stage some frames earlier than expected =P

I was just playing around with this game because it was our Game of the Week at the orkut forum ... and the challenge of the week was: Beating this game with all 14 power stars... but in the end, I started thinking ... are power stars really necessary? So I played once in frame advance, with around 1000 re-records, and that's the result:
Land of Illusion in less than 30 minutes
(Dega 1.16 MAME core was used)
I'm not sure about anything except all simple actions take 2 frames to happen, but turning around, getting blocks, swimming, entering doors and high-jumping all take a random amount of frames to me ... +__+
I didn't try this trick to avoid getting the shrinking potion, but... I found it too useful for speedrunning at some levels O_o
Achievements:
- Glitched the rock boss;
- Took the hard path on phantom's castle;
- Got 0 power stars, of course (this gets the Best Ending and even more bonus score at the end!);
- Butted down one enemy without any room;
- Took damage on nearly all stages to save time;
- Colored a map;
- Lost all the air underwater and didn't die :P
I think Land of Illusion should get a TAS \o/
Actually, it should get two TASes ... I found out that you only need to backtrack once for stars, when you get the rope (4 stages to revisit) ... all other stars can be grabbed during the stage, .. it takes different amounts of time to get each one, longest paths are probably flower field and lake.. x.x

The badass guy take out all the enemies and the cop gets there, late as always, and gets the credits, it's like an action movie =P

Actually, was the green Sub-Zero the opponent?? .. voted Yes too \o

I think this one is the glitchiest fighting game TAS ever, currently.. xP

Yeah, I hope ptorflaxendrosis can redo it with the new improvements, and maybe it will even be accepted in the future, who can tell .. +D
I know how hard it is to test different routes on this game.. xP

I don't think the human speedrunner stopped trying too hard on stage 41, .. as it's clear on the video that he's not playing the game entirely, he's restarting the game many times so he can improve just the stage he's playing =P
I'm saying this console player doesn't need to think of routes in order, he could try his favorite stages more than some others, ... OR the TASer tried very hard on the last stages and got good TAS routes for these.. xP
I still have to vote No for these obvious flaws and worse times, even I got 9 seconds once on the first stage, and I wasn't frame advancing.. +D
Sound desyncs badly in this one o.o
But.. voted Yes for the hohuhohahohuhohehohehahohu that made me laugh all the time... XD
What is that weapon used against web spider on the second fight?

Does that mean you could be adding 2-player fights in the middle, full of glitching and other tricks?
I'm downgrading my vote to 'weak Yes', when will this new version be published? +D

Voting No for bad technical quality, ... as this guy can do better on some stages on a real console:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qkmCAmFgeE
(9 seconds on the first stage, and there are some others with faster times, look especially at stage 14 in 8 seconds)
But I really think it's not a bad game choice, .. maybe this SG-1000 run would be a better idea, then..? +D (.....can Dega 1.16 record SG-1000 movies?)

You won my Yes vote on Athena's fight, .. and after seeing Blue Mary humiliating Rugal in the end... voting Strong Yes here \o/ (was that a spoiler?) x_x'

Sorry, but an usual combo video is more impressive than your TAS, and it's not even a TAS.
No vote.
Sorry, but this usual combo video was very much less impressive than this TAS, it uses unrelated background music, and it doesn't even fight against CPU.
Can't eggs be glitched and be born as different pokemon or even glitch ones? Maybe it can be done, just maybe... xP if it can't be done normally, do it like this: transfer Kanto starters, fossils evoluted, legendary birds and new species, and haunter-graveler-kadabra-machoke, and if possible, slowbro-onyx-poliwhirl-scyther, if they can be evoluted through glitching and making an item appear .. a new thread is necessary for new ideas to pop up, maybe it could be done in a two screen video involving gold and silver, but starting as gold and blue (this one of course) .... =P

Or maybe the one he looks like he's working at the Safari Zone and black out =P
Or.. fishing in the middle of the lake, of course..
Or this one that I already said something about..

I'd go with 'threw a pokeball at Mewtwo' because he's with a lv7 Mankey and I always thought in the past that the lower the pokemon level, the harder it is to make the pokeball work ... >.>
