Have anyone tried Athena already? - It's a bad game - It's really really hard - It's not too slowpaced Maybe it could be a good TAS .. +D

Luckily I got the version with sync to watch, .. so I'm voting Yes anyway, it's really funny seeing those bosses fall for such quick trimming like it was a weed wacker attacking them.. +D

Couldn't get entertainment enough here too, the hack looks well made, and the technical quality is obvious, but ... I'll have to go with Meh, because some level look really impossible to a human, kind of like it was made to be a "only possible in TAS" case.... >.>

Maybe, decreasing some jumping times will make the run faster, I think. But these are very small improvements.

In fact, there has been a contra 2-players picifist run on www.tasvg.com. You can download this video at http://tsg.dydisk.com/lengmianysh-FC-Contra.rar
I mean a 2 player run that shows up different play on each player instead of equalling the commands for both players half the time... >_>'

The audio progressively desyncs here too.. +_+ didn't see it before to the end, I think it gets to 1 second late at the last level O.o Is this a Dega problem or a encode problem? @__@

This is technically good, and really well played, just... I don't know if I'll be rewatching it a lot, and the entertainment wasn't really great, ... but it's enough for a Yes vote.. +D

Bumping, bumping! Breaking news =P Starting new WIP, this is beyond human skills alright Pressing three directions at the same time \o/ Now I think this is worth working on, submitting, and maybe even publishing! +D EDIT: not using Dega 1.16 doze for WIPs and TASing anymore, always MAME core =P

I have a last question .. o.o Does that trick with the end flag of levels ... loses frames? If not, that should be used on a next run (if this game is still being improved, I liked to see that Mario can get stuck on the flag block, and the castle flag appears behind him) =P

I don't know about others, but ... I cared to watch the video, and ... not sure why you do those double jumps at the beginning of every stage, if you're not gaining any speed from them o_o do you know why the current published video of SMB do that? If you don't, perhaps this page will be useful: http://tasvideos.org/TASTutorial.html These videos brought me to a whole new level of TASing, before them, I was just a frame advancing player using save states, and now, I can really bring a game to new discoveries, new RAM data that can be used to gain more and more frames, ... Hm... did you edit the rerecord count? I think some parts of your video were rerecorded, ... there is nothing wrong about that, you can let the number of rerecord tell you how you did improvements, that's why video in this site are so perfect, they're made perfect by the authors... +D Well, good luck with your game choice, because SMB has way too much info to be studied before starting a new run, and the first one is how to raise his speed to maximum in the minimum amount of frames.... o.o I actually voted now, after watching.. there is something weird with the video speed too, is it 50hz? +_+

I still don't actually FEEL this game will ever be accepted, but .. I'm on my way to glitching a little more those fire spitters, and walking a little closer to dogs, big rocks, and thinking seriously on the stage 5 to make it with no enemy killing, AND no invisibility, .... this can use some more 5000 rerecords in the near future, I'll see if I can make it to 'published' some day ... XD But if you feel like teamworking, why not? Do a complete testrun too, maybe you have some ideas that I could be missing out =P (and maybe that merging, we should be posting on SMS WIP section!) x.x (BTW, did you see the WIPs?)

It reads just a little less glitched than that here, but it crashes completely when the music tries to change after stage 1 ... O_o

And coincidentally I came up with my topic 2 days later... O_o Ok, I didn't know someone else would be working on this game, and from now on, I'll be checking this section for SMS games every time I decide to start a new WIP,... õ_o Also, this game has one big problem for TASing: you have to miss shots all the time to low down the hit ratio, if you get 100%, you get a slow screen, and if you get 0%, you get a VERY slow screen for 10.000.000 score, that obviously overflows.. EDIT: Shouldn't this and the topic I did be merged or something like this?

EDIT: I'm a little more inclined to Mickey Mouse's Land of Illusion next, but I really need to learn this 'dance with the music' technique, how can I perform rhythm moves if frame advance has no music at all? @__@
By trial & error.
Kirkq wrote:
Klmz mentioned trial and error, which I assume implies something like picking a beat and playing the movie back to determine if you need to edit the movie to move earlier or later. I usually do it a bit differently though. To eliminate the need for switching between read only and playback, I usually just mash savestates and pause while on normal speed to try to isolate the sound of the beat that I am looking for and determine the exact frame it is on. Then once I've determined this, I really only need to put in the input once. I'm sure both ways have their pros and cons, but it is tedious business for sure.
Patashu wrote:
Another thing you can do is time how fast the music is (and thus calculate frame difference between beats) then you only need to find the exact time location of one beat to know when the rest are.
One frame, one time, that sounds reasonable, and not too much tedious business.. +D I don't think there will be long moments of pause since the glitches keep appearing more and more... xP

Thanks +D .. ... do we need a recalculation of routes for the any% run? I think the 1-2-3-6-9-12-16 way got a really good shortcut and the 1-2-3-7-10-11-12-16 way didn't..

Hi Jungon. Are you going to improve the any%? Or will you do a new revision of Master of Darkness?
Well, Master of Darkness still needs a complete reformulation of routing, but given time, I'll be working on it..
I am still inactively working on this, though I haven't beat Stage 2 yet. What do you think about it?
I was at first shocked for being acknowledged about more speed tricks, but on the second watch, I thought you were getting too many bomb items, .. then I played around with the start of stage 2-1, and the bombs can do a much cleaner path there, so the tricks can really beat all of my WIP's times with complete seconds ahead +_+ maybe we could work together, or maybe, you don't need me at all, I'm more inclined to working together, since there really is no 'expiring deadline for submitting' or something like that.. XD --- I actually can't wait to see the encode, even if I already re-watched the run a 1000 times here... is this normal? XD

The only thing I'd question is that in the stage with the fourth boss (the double-headed guy), you make a lot of stops to kill enemies. I figure you did that to have full health for the boss battle. Is full health necessary to do the jingle skip that you do?
Actually, the jingle skip happens rarely when "kaoshi" is performed, depending more on the situation, it can make events not start, but this stage sure is one of the hardest, too much enemies on some parts require more planning, especially the ones coming from behind.. +_+ Strangely I didn't know the jingle was cut out, until rewatching that part with sound, I was already 3 stages ahead ... Well, Master of Darkness still needs a complete reformulation of routing, but given time, I'll be working on it.. The any% run sure can be redone with the same strategies, but first I'm more curious about the statue warp, maybe it can define a new route that can be faster ... AngerFist said 35 seconds if I remember well, but "faish" is much more useful on the final bosses than "kaoshi"... well, still deciding what to do next .. =P EDIT: I'm a little more inclined to Mickey Mouse's Land of Illusion next, but I really need to learn this 'dance with the music' technique, how can I perform rhythm moves if frame advance has no music at all? @__@
