Well, lesse... here's the list of stuff I, personally, still wanna see. Whether or not they'd all make good runs is subject to debate. Some of these I just wanna see the later stages/endings of but could never beat the things on my own. Topping the list? Athena Jurassic Park Alien 3 Beetlejuice Godzilla Godzilla 2 Kickle Cubicle Mighty Bomb Jack Rainbow Islands SMB2 (Full Run) Gargoyle's Quest II The Guardian Legend ...And that's just what I have on hand. >_>;

Wonder how fast one could take down Dragon Quest Monsters (1 or 2 - though 2 seems more than a little longer >>;) ... Or... how about the remake of Donkey Kong? I...vaguely remember it being a big deal for the GBC. On that note - Mario vs Donkey Kong. I can see it now...people trying to shave fractions of a second off... >>;

I think an explanation of this so-called slowdown needs to be explained. This isn't like any kind of slowdown I'VE ever seen. This is more like lag and/or choppiness. I loaded up Rockman World V and tried messing around with the options at the start of Mercury's level. I dunno about anyone else, but real save/load state hotkey mapping would really be appreciated. Even if I map those two keys to ctrl and alt, let's say, it's awkward and annoying to have to move to hit one of those two buttons while trying to play a game. There seems to be a Slowdown button in the joypad setup. Why not add save/load stating control options there? No way I'll be able to properly do a run unless I can sit and concentrate on what I'm doing with the ability to use the shoulder buttons to save/load when I need. And before ANYONE says it, I can't use any keyboard emulators. As I've said countless times, they do NOT work. Back to the slowdown... for one thing, it's hard to judge what the hell speed you're currently tinkering with. Second, what's the button mappable for? All IT seems to do is make things go lightning fast...and only when the button is HELD down. As I said, I went into a level to test things out. Let's say Rock is standing against a wall on the left side of the screen. After hitting Minus (Plus?) a certain number of times to slow things down, I tried moving Rock. He does not move. He chops through thin air. From the left wall, he was a good few steps forward. And you cannot see him WALK there, as all normal slow-motion emulators let you. No, he blinks out of existance, then blinks back in to the point he moves to. Not only would this be reeeally irritating for any kind of lengthy movie, it's nothing more than forcably lagging the game. Rock isn't moving THAT much slower. So, unless I'm just not quite getting what the hell's going on... >> Gens' setup is currently my favorite of everything. You can map the save/load state buttons. You can set how slow you want things to run after you enter slow-down mode...which is ALSO mappable in the joypad setup screen. Might I recommend (if it's at all possible) to do something similar? I don't mean to come off as being irritated. I was just wanting to sink my claws into a Rockman run and it seems I'm not going to be able to.

36 hours, yes. Can we officially deem this a gigantic hoax? Or should we wait a full 48?

Well, now that it seems a rerecording VBA has been produced... let's get down to the dirty work of listing the probably half billion gameboy games that'd be worthy of running. Running off of a list here, which I'm fairly sure doesn't include GBC games. But then, there are enough games out there that even with only oldschool GB games, this list is going to be big in the end. That being said, I honestly don't remember TOO many old GB games. :x By all means, add! Another annoying thing is a lot of GB games are rehashes of NES games. Also, I think we need us a Gameboy forum now. What say you? A Boy and His Blob - The Rescue of Princess Blobette Castlevania Adventure Castlevania - Legends Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge Dai-2-Ji Super Robot Taisen G (I want a Super Robot Wars run, dammit. If we aren't going to end up being able to run GBA games for whatever reason... >>;;) Final Fantasy Adventure (Hi, Seiken) Final Fantasy Legends 1 - 3 (I know 3 is laughably short... >>;) Gargoyle's Quest - Ghosts'n Goblins (The second one for the NES still needs a-doin', too) Harvest Moon Kid Icarus - Of Myths and Monsters Kirby's Dream Land (How many GB Kirbys are there?) LoZ: Link's Awakening Metroid II (The SDA runs are already pretty damn fast, so... >>) Pokemon [Any Version] (It had to be here. You realize that.) Rockman World 1 - 5 (Mmm...more Rockman...) The Simpsons - Bart and the Beanstalk The Simpsons - Escape From Camp Deadly Super Mario Land series (Hm...all-treasure Wario Land run(s)?) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 - 3 Those are just all the games *I* remember playing. Going through my folders, I'll add the following: Battletoads (Isn't the GB one different? >>) Megaman Xtreme (Bahaha, Chibi-X....) Metal Walker (No one I've ever known has played this... ><) LoZ: Oracle of Ages/Seasons Metal Gear Solid And, if GBA runs -are- going to be allowed... and I'm sure people will do them whether or not they'll be accepted to the site or not...: A trio of Castlevania games. Super Robot Wars games. Rockman Zero games. Mario and Luigi. Advance Wars games. Shining Soul games. Two Metroids. Naruto games. One Piece games. Etc etc etc. So...yeah. Additions?

*wince* Arrow Flash. I actually made a run of this once, a few months back. But I was stupid and didn't check it after each level or so, so when I went back, it desynched pretty early on. *gets and watches*

Desynched for me at the same spot. Around the third of fourth barrier that the Brood Queen thing smashes into, Logan just kinda sits there and gets owned. There are a few things I've noticed/have questions about. 1 - It's obvious that Logan can climb walls and such. Why wait for the elevator at the end of one of the very first levels? It's right at the end, and you sit there, slashing at nothingness while you wait for it to come down far enough to jump to. 2 - The jumping slash IS the most powerful attack he has. In addition, it moves you faster than running. Why was this not used constantly? 3 - I really don't think Wolverine is the best case for every scenario. Certainly for bosses, he's good to use, but I think someone needs to test to see how much damage each character does in any given situation. ie - Wolverine does 20 damage with his jump-slash, Gambit does 15. Something like that. >> 4 - Since you avoid quite a lot of enemies anyway, why NOT use Nightcrawler for most stages? Kurt's teleport, which I believe he has in this game, MUST be useful for certain spots... 5 - Magneto is available after you fight him. Is he slower in moving/attacking? Seems like he would be the strongest choice and thus the best for bosses. 6 - Why'd you get smacked by those bomb things when fighting Apocalypse? I thought things had desynched for me at first. Unless it speeds you up - and it didn't - flawlessness should take priority over showing off an in-game feature...and it appeared you were messing with Wolverine's auto-healing power. Good game, but the run definitely needs polishing.

*whistles* A run would be tough for Haunting. Why? The family tends to run back and forth between the same rooms. Luck would really need a good bit of manipulation. Not only to steer them in the right direction, but also to steer them out with as few scares as possible. Preferrably scares where you control them or they auto-activate. In other words - only green and orange haunt-spots. Blue require you to dive in and back out to activate and THEN wait for the family member to notice and walk over. You'd have to monitor your ecto levels, too. A trip into the underworld to collect more isn't wise. Even for scare gifts. With only four houses plus the final annoying boss, I doubt it would take more than 20 minutes to fully beat the game. Providing everything went your way with the right amount of manipulation. I actually own Haunting. One of the few Genesis games I ever really treasured. Oh, and there's a naked woman in house...3? 4? One of the later two. It's in the back bathroom somewhere.

Has anyone - EVER - beaten Demonhead on a real NES? Hell, or emulated, for that matter. O.o Bang's general wimpiness combined with the insanity of bosses and the fact that exploding enemies would need to be manipulated to drop health-restoring items alot so you could walk on through the explosions with little consequence... >< Personally, I'm jonesin' for a Legacy of the Wizard run right now. Playing in real-time seems to actually be easier than in slow-motion... mainly due to the fact that you'd be holding left/right about 90% of the time and it makes your (at least my) hands really sore after awhile. Pochi's area is no problem. Go into the dungeon, get the glove, get a crystal (optional? If you go item collecting FIRST, it'd get you out of the dungeon quicker), get the crown, fight the boss, and go to Xemn. Trouble is, Xemn's area is a royal crown bitch. So many inane glove screens. The whole of his area is almost nothing but block manipulation. For some reason, I always did Xemn's area after Pochi's... possibly because I know the general area his section's in. The mother and daughter's areas are totally unknown to me. I've BEEN to some of their areas before, but... x.x; http://www.rpgclassics.com/shrines/nes/lotw/ It's fairly good, even if the 'walkthrough' doesn't cover a whole lot. If the links still work and people feel like dealing with the dumb thing, there are NESticle movies showing, mainly, Xemn's area, along with bosses and such. Again, the main trouble is the insipid way items are dropped. Magic takes top priority... so if you're running down on it, you'll get almost nothing but pickups for refilling your magic meter. Poison seems to drop regularly, no matter what you're low on. Keys are dropped most often at the very beginning when you first start out. Your totals are all relatively high and enemies will drop them at a decent rate. The mother's section would probably prove EASIEST (next to Pochi's) since you have an item that lets you fly and a magic key... both use magic. So basically you just need to keep money up and stay at certain inns along your way... or manage keys and the magic key use well. When you get the boots and can stomp on enemies, that at least offers a way to keep from spending so much magic at any given time. Some items are out of the way and that's what's going to eat up the most time, I think. Maybe going into the dungeon with a character faster than Pochi to grab the Glove at the start would be good. That page up there has an item hunt section, I believe... so whichever way is fastest. I've stared at maps and I've played the game so often I've grown sick of it... but I just can't get the girls' crowns. >< I'm totally lost in their sections and I'm not entirely sure why that is. So anyway, there's MY longass post about a game that would be fun to see. c.c Though Demonhead's vying for position with Legacy at the moment. I dunno if there are any differences between US and Japanese versions (Dragonslayer 4 - Drasle Family) but...

Yeah, there's a ton that could be improved on this. I remember renting this game way back when I was little. It IS pretty damn hard when you get right down to it. Trouble is, it's also really damn BORING. First - Use slowdown. There's no reason not to. Second - Stop firing all the time. You're shooting constantly, even when there's nothing on-screen to kill. Third - Generic shooter rule here: either shoot -everything- and never miss... or don't fire at all and avoid everything. The only time you should shoot is to open the way in tight passages where you CAN'T avoid enemies and at the end of the stage to kill the boss. A little work and the game could definitely be improved. Sadly, though, no matter how good you make it, SS is still a pretty boring game in and of itself.

Stuff I'D still like to see includes: A full SMB2 run (SMB and SMB3 each have full runs, don't they?) Legacy of the Wizard (It'd take a lot of planning still...) Clash at Demonhead (Worst jumping ever) Guardian Legend (I only recently realized that THIS was the game from my childhood I was trying so hard to remember) Gargoyle's Quest II (Because Red Arrimer kicks ass) Athena (Because it's such an inane game) Mighty Bomb Jack (Because to this day, I STILL don't know how to properly play the thing) Jurassic Park (Any system, really. There's like five or six for NES/SNES/Genesis total) Genesis runs seem surprisingly few and far between, for some reason. Vectorman 1 and 2 Toejam and Earl 2 (Wasn't someone reworking 1?) Dynamite Headdy And for SNES games, I'd still like seeing Pilotwings, Spike McFang, and, of course, Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Because the SNES version has superior sound to the Genesis version.

With so many RPG topics over in the SNES forum, I'm surprised more of them haven't popped up over here. Since the first FF has been run already, I don't see why the other two couldn't be. 3's the best one for the NES, in my eyes. I tried working on a run of this awhile back. After getting thoroughly whomped in the first cave about a dozen times, I decided to move on to less-frustrating things. The way I see it, having a team comprised mostly (or completely) of White Mages would make the first cave a lot easier, since pretty much everything there is undead. Perhaps a Monk for the fourth character, since he wouldn't require weapon upgrading? I'm pretty sure getting under a 5-minute time before the boulder is destroyed would be plausible... But how about the fight with Bahamut that happens later on? I mean, he's pretty much invincible, but what if you manipulated luck so that you beat the thing? It would take about a year, but... >>; What's the lowest level you can beat the game at, anyway? I've read a couple of single-character FAQs, but none on low-level runs...

Yomigaeru AIYAAAAN SHEEEEEFFU! Uh...wait, wrong resurrection. *coughs* Anyway, it seems as if Genesis runs have dried up lately. Not many games being tackled these days. Figured I'd make a second list within the first's topic just to try and spur someone into action. There's still a good selection of games to hit up, and I know at least some of 'em can be done really quickly. And so...: The Sonic series is being taken care of really well, so I don't think we have to worry about those not getting justice... Streets of Rage still has one or two more in the series that COULD be run. Whether they SHOULD be or not is debatable. Vectorman 1 and 2 are still in need of blazing runs. Vectorman can really hustle when he wants to be. Double-jumping and 8-way firing helps, too. Of course, a lot of levels, particularly in 2, are REALLY dark... Contra Hard Corps. and CV: Bloodlines have good runs out, so those can be crossed off the list. Rocket Knight Adventures and Sparkster have been run. Shinobi 3 and Ristar are still awaiting a good home-- er...run. Gunstar Heroes got made... I think. Rockman Megaworld has that dumb saving problem, so a marathon of all three games + Wily Tower doesn't seem possible... Comic Zone would be fun, but it'd take a bit of effort to make it really interesting, since the enemies take so many hits. Dynamite Headdy, EWJim 1 and 2, any Simpsons game, B.O.B... all still look like they'd be interesting... whatever happened to the plans for Earthworm Jim, anyway? Now that I've gone through most of the original list... Beyond Oasis: It is a long game, but knowledge of where to go and what to do would greatly reduce a lot of time. Smart use of weapon pickups (strong swords in particular) would also save time. The hardest part would probably be the mountaintop gauntlet, where you have to force yourself right while avoiding all sorts of hellish stuff....like those damn flamethrowers. Blaster Master 2: Never played it personally, but a sequel can't be ALL that bad, can it? c.c Blood Shot: The screenshot reminds me of something... and it looks like a 3D shooter. I'm wanting to say I played it and liked it, but....don't hold me to that. Bubba N Stix: A really awkward platformer where you control a redneck with a bit of wood for a 'partner' c.c; Cool Spot: Yes, it's SNES, too. But it's being added here on grounds that the game kicks enough ass that either version would be worth watching. Daze Before Christmas: An evil Santa? What the hell? Doom Troopers: I remember this being really popular for awhile back in the day. Flashback: Wasn't someone plotting a run for this? Any of the Jurassic Park games. Raptor or Human runs could both be worth it. As I'm sitting here looking through this list, I see a Jurassic Park 2 (F)(!) listed...and I've no CLUE how it plays. Probably a hack or something, but... Lawnmower Man, for its half-assed sidescroller stages and trippy Genesis-style 3D flying stages. Lemmings 1 and 2, of course... I'm surprised no one's taken a go at The Lion King yet, to be honest... I know folks are planning Lost Vikings games, so those are getting left alone... McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure - Because MC Kids just wasn't weird enough, this time you control Ronald himself. Ronald learned last time not to trust any crazy mini versions of Kid and Play. Mega Bomberman: Animal helpers? Who thought that was good? Mega Turrican: The weapons....the weapoooons! Rainbow Islands: Prettier than the NES version, that's for sure... Shadowrun: Does anyone even know what the hell this thing is ABOUT? Shove It - The Warehouse Game: It'd be more like Fire and Ice (NES) than anything - a demonstration of how to move the boxes properly. It's harder than it sounds, like all good puzzle games. We're Back - A Dinosaur's Tale: Because games where your sprite takes up like 90% of the screen are just that rare....and because the only time I've ever reached the final level, the cart locked up. Boo. X-men and X-men 2: Clone Wars. 2 was infinitely better... What was Zero Tolerance and why does it feel familiar? Zero the Kamikaze Squirrell (Aero the Acrobat 1 and 2, as well) Zombies Ate My Neighbors (Yes, I'm grumbling about it AGAIN) Zero Wing: Every Zig have not take off!! Zool: Ninja of the Nth Dimension! And that's it, really. Figured I'd at least try and get some steam under a few games again. Maybe it's just a bad time for running, what with school coming back into session around here and all, but... hey, s'worth a try. And it killed some time. Huzzah?

Seeing as how I started this whole mess, I figured I may as well throw in what I could remember. I've chucked the VMV, or else I'd send it over to you so that you could see what I'd done in my run. But the final level is a hideous bitch goddess in which mini-versions of the 6 level bosses come at you. First thing - little Billy drifts when he's falling and turning out of a run. If you run towards an edge - and you will, since there are a lot of descent areas - hit left RIGHT as he hits the edge and you'll turn back the other way and drop straight down. I wish I could tell you something useful about the ice level. It's basically two huge, vertical shafts with interconnecting tunnels. Grab the spear powerup from the first miniboss fight at the bottom of shaft one, as the boss is annoying. Also, use the flame spear on him for added damage. There's an on-again/off-again invincibility item you can grab out of the first enemy at the start of the second vertical shaft. I only got it 2 out of the 3 times I did that spot, but it let me bypass the first half of it without having to worry about ducking into the leftmost ledges or downward-spearing enemies and bouncing. Pogo on the bosses. Most of 'em can be, and it's usually a good idea (and visually entertaining) if you can pogo on 'em for a good deal of the match without falling to the ground. The cloud boss that turns into the fire demon thing is a good example of this. You can literally pogo on top of it until he reaches his second form. You can mess with luck (or maybe glitch) the mushroom at the top of the intro level's vertical climb if you jump just right underneath it. In my final run, I jumped just enough to make a few pixels of sky above the topmost ledge visible, and when I continued on up, the mushroom that usually is there wasn't, saving me a second or so. I never really fiddled with the special items you get from bosses, save for the fire spear... there's a cloud you can ride, which is horribly slow in both forming and moving... there are spears you can throw that stick into walls (required for reaching certain ledges in the final stage unless you pogo a boss' mini-me...x.x;) and there's even some thing that apparently does a lot of damage but eats up a whole heart when it's used. One odd thing was this tractor-beam like weapon...you can grab and hold an enemy, then turn and release it at another, making them both die. I'm wanting to say that I used this in the water level's vertical climbing area of PAIN, but... Best of luck to ya, you're gonna need it. The game's a cake walk until the final stage. Maybe if I had gained better control of the special weapons, it woulda been easier, I dunno. But you should be able to pull a sub-15 minute run once it's done. It's a SHORT game, it's just frustrating in spots.

*raises hand* Why not go through the Big O' List topics, get ahold of all that haven't been done yet, and use that as the base? Or set up a topic for it, so people can add their two cents on what they'd like to see.
