Keeping this post seperate from ^that one since this concerns my v2. Anyone happen to know if you can manipulate the order of items in the bonus game? Because I need to grab a fire flower after the first two Tree Zone levels. I decided to use the 2nd area's bonus game to grab one, but the item order went [heart][fire flower][carrot][heart][heart][fire flower]. Since you don't get control until the second item goes back. And with the stupid crane moving constantly, it takes a COUPLE seconds to grab the flower. But now, I'm annoyed. I pulled off this insane jump in area 4. Right at the beginning, there's a big gap with a moving platform and a [?] block. As small Mario you can jump across underneath. Usually you have to wait to land on the platform before vaulting over the [?] block... but you can apparently gain a little more air by letting go of the jump button at the right time. After a TON of attempts, I combined this with a spin jump (holding down when jumping as anyone other than small or Bunny Mario) and busted the [?] block... and there was a fire flower inside! >:O So basically... if I pick up a mushroom in the mushroom starting level, stay big until T-4, and pull that crazy crap off again, it'd save me the trouble of hitting up a bonus stage. This means that I could probably shave another two to four seconds off of what I've already lowered the time to. At present, I've got a 4:20 after beating the mother bird. That's 8 seconds better than my previous attempt. Rerecord count is in the 330s. I'm gonna record another version of this tomorrow to see which version is faster. Whichever is gets continued. Ach. At the very least, this is the last major power-up problem I can foresee having. I'm going to need Fire Mario to access the secret level in Micro Zone, which'll let me skip over two other levels and go directly to the boss. So that'll shave minutes off the time by itself. Providing everything goes my way, I just might have a 25-minute run on my hands.

http://kaitoukid.endoftheinternet.org Well, there's the finished v1. Two seconds faster than Oasiz's. But keep in mind that: 1) This is my first attempt at even trying something like this. 2) It was more to get a feel for things and so I could review what power would best suit each level- something I'm going to do either tonight or tomorrow afternoon. 3) There are some reeeeally embarassing mistakes that I didn't bother fixing since I DO plan to make a good v2. These include the Worst Witch Fight Ever and Awful Final Wario Hit. I've really got to do something about the inconsistant water jumping, too. No matter how long I hold (or DON'T hold) the jump button, Mario will often choose how high to fling his hefty butt out of the water on his own. Initial Stage: I'm not going to use a bonus stage to get the carrot. I'll pick it up elsewhere or just skip it altogether. Bonus stage took up too much time. Tree Zone: Definitely choosing the ant path over the bees, since you can take that shortcut and beat it in almost no time. Space Zone: ...is horrible. Seriously, it is and will always be the most boring thing ever to play AND watch. One level's reduced gravity means slow moving and awkward jumps and the second is an auto-scroller. Micro Zone: Try though I did, I just couldn't get to that platform to take me under the ledge, so I had to pause. Switched back to Fire Mario a stage or three too late. I'll use Bunny Mario for area 1 since hovering would be useful, then make the switch to Fire again. Pumpkin Zone: Not a lot to say. I hate the witch fight, but I didn't feel like adjusting since I WOULD be making a v2. Seems like me and Oasiz had the same idea of killing all four hockey mask enemies towards the end there, only I threw fireballs upwards to get 'em instead of head-bouncing on them. Mario Zone: Is a mess. How conceited IS Mario, anyway? Why does he need a giant, clockwork statue of himself? Turtle Zone: I. HATE. WATER. LEVELS. In ANY game. But especially here since forward movement is hideous and they REALLY try slowing you down. Especially in the area where you basically have to travel about via pipes ever few feet. Wario's Castle: I haven't watched the playback for the castle, irritated as I was with some of the hits. The final hit on Fire Wario was especially embarassing. I blame my lack of sleep today on that flub. So...yeah. The rerecord count was lower than I'd like it to be. V2 will have precision jumping, though, I promise. And I'll try really hard to make Space and Turtle Zones interesting... though they're both so hideous that it'll be tough. I'm gonna TRY reducing the time down to 28 minutes even. It'd be nice to get it under that, but I can't really see that happening realistically. If I'm missing some in-level warps, by all means inform me of them. I'll be taking Monday to review each level in detail, taking notes - mostly of where carrots and fire flowers are - and then starting v2 on Tuesday.

If I ever work out my issues with resuming recording (*grumble*) I'll do SML3. Wario Land 1. I figure I might as well try and avoid everything as much as possible and keep the horns upgrade to keep charging forward as much as I can. Taking a test run at 100% speed just to get reaccquainted with the game, since it's been forever since I last played. Ahh, Wario. Good times. Good games. I heard you can't die in the later games, though. That seems outright weird to me. I've never played anything past the first game. :x

That's all it IS, genius. There is no deep, meaningful plot to Dragonball Z! "Save the Earth/Universe/Whatever" is as deep as it gets! I've read all of the manga, I've seen all of DB, Z, -and- that godawful mess that was GT. I've seen all the movies and, save for the GT special, have seen all the sidestories. And I STILL don't like it. Why? Because I'm old enough to recognize mindless shounen fighting when I see it. You haven't picked up on this. I do love how everyone who states their opinion is 'on the bandwagon' to you. You who, might I add, have added nothing to your own thread. All you've done is commented here and there, yelled incoherently, and said the word 'bandwagon' more times than a propaganda film! So tell us, O Wise One: What's so great about DBZ? What's so incredibly amazing about Goku losing his shirt but, somehow, not his pants time and again? Are his pants made of stronger fabrics? If so, why does he not make his shirts of the same stuff? And why does he bath in a barrel in his front yard?! Whyyyy?! YOU! OBEY THE FIST!

but you got to admit some of Funimations music they put in dbz was really good. No. No it wasn't. Casio Music =/= Really Good. At any point. Ive seen the japanese version, and I know for a fact that the english version of SS2Gohan fighting the cell juniors has better music. lolz opinions omgz! I know what music you are talking about though, when Gohan goes super saiyan 2, its alright .....You think the music to the single greatest moment in DBZ (debatable) is just 'alright'... *points* Get out. So you're saying what Funi did was good, then? To have Gohan pointlessly TALKING up to and through the very first part of the scream? Mmkay. Hearing Tamashii tai Tamashii playing as Gohan just stared there, taking in everything until the point he snapped... That SINGLE moment in the original is so much better than anything Funi's done. While I know their voice actors had to've wound up with several sore throats from yelling, their yells never had the power that the originals did. Want another comparison? Majin Vegita's suicide explosion against Fat Buu. Listen as he yells in both versions. Raspy!Dubgeta never even came close to the power.

Screwing around, I got a time of 4:28 after the Tree Zone boss. Frame count's at 16,062. Any updates from anyone else, or should I keep slugging away to see what time I get at the end? [Edit: With the Bunny Ears, I pulled in a 4:31. That just outright confounds me, since I took a shortcut this time. >>; In any case, I have Tree and Space Zones beaten with a time of 9:19. Space Zone, despite only being two levels, is possibly the slowest zone in the game. This is because area 1 has reduced gravity...which means that Mario moves a bit slower than normal. Especially when jumping. Area 2 is auto-scrolling and LONG. This also includes the time for the starting level, which you're forced do to before picking a zone, and the sleepy hippo level, which you have to go through to access Space Zone. Anyone cares to beat my times, by all means do. The only shortcut I know of so far is in the ant level of Tree Zone. There's a hidden heart block that more or less lets you bypass a good chunk of the level.]

Funimation = Worst dubbers ever. 4Kids may hack up their properties, but at least the voice actors aren't grating on the ears. Chris Sabat's voice burnses us. IT BURNSES US! And pretty much every voice they got for the Hagaren dub is painful. Ed sounds way too old. As for DBZ... It's mindless. There are a few moments worth it - Gohan's explosion to SSJ2 -- And if you even dare say Funi did THAT scene right, I'll shoot you in the face with a bazooka. -- being probably the best. Might I recommend some shounen series with ACTUAL plot? Bleach is far greater than DBZ could ever hope to be. Sousei no Aquarion, which just started this season, is already better than MOST DBZ eps. The best thing DBZ has going for it is Kageyama Hironobu doing songs for it. He tends to make anything he's on better by default. Except his version of Planet Dance. Ew and why. Ew and why?

With the romcount in the 1,900s right now, you'd really think there'd be more games to plan for. Anyway. Jeez, I go away for awhile and a mini-boom of VBA activity happens. Listing all that I'd personally like to see. As usual, add on, get ideas from, etc, etc, etc. Advance Wars 1 & 2 CV: Circle/Harmony/Aria Sonic Advance series Super Robot Wars series (Blah, bite me, I know they're painfully long. Ah well.) Shining Soul 1 & 2 (Mmm. Options.) DBZ: Legacy of Goku series (*hiss* ... But it'd be a fairly easy set of runs... the games aren't hard. The forced levelling might make them pointless to run, though) Rockman. Zero and EXE series. Well... maybe EXE 1 or 2. 3's long as sin, 4 would be pointless since you need to beat it three times to get to Forte and such, and 5 is just... pain personified. Personally? I'd like seeing ANY of the GBA Tony Hawk games get taken up. I could never ever ever get used to the fixed camera in those things... Denki Blocks (It's a good game, dammit...) Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission (I know both have topics, but... for the sake of the list...) Super Monkey Ball Jr. (I couldn't get a feel for non-analong SMB X.x) Boktai 1 & 2 Banjo Kazooie - Grunty's Revenge Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Sword of Mana Mr. Driller 2 (Fastest to the bottom wins? >>; Very quick movie if made) River City Ransom EX Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon (Haha, Hans is a bishie now) Mario vs Donkey Kong Sabre Wulf Astro Boy Desentsu no Stafi 3 (What system were 2 and 1 for again? >>;) TMNT 1 & 2 (Pointless? I found the games kinda boring, really...) Grand Theft Auto Advance (Dumb cops...) LoZ: The Minish Cap Metal Slug Advance (I'm amazed it still isn't getting delayed... c.c;) Shaman King: Master of Spirits (That was the sidescroller, right?) Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories Advance Guardian Heroes (Weird game...) Going through a list of all the games out, that's the best I could come up with. Any additions and such?

I still say it's retarded to just up and randomly move without bothering to ask any of the, y'know, people who come to the chat what THEY think about it. Good job, asshat. Ah well. Nothing was happening around there, anyway. No point in coming to a room when there's a chance that it'll randomly up and move. Even less point to being on two damn servers at once.

I hereby try and breathe new life into this! Headdy's one of the better platformers for the Genesis, sad as that is, and it definitely needs a run made of it. It'd be a right pain determining proper paths, what heads to use in any given situation, etc etc. I've done some messing around in the intro stage, and it's annoyingly long. Mainly due to the opening part, where you have to run away from the robot that's grabbing Headdy's buddies (can you even kill it?) and then at the end, since the boss can only be hit when it's normal-colored... It'd be impressive to find a jumping pattern through the energy it draws in, though. Anyway, here's to hoping.

wtf was THAT BS about? I just ran FOUR anti-virus-type programs and didn't have a single virus. I go to enterthegame's website and they're basically pulling some shit to keep folks from linking ANYWHERE, it would seem. In short, a conversation with someone I know on another server: Me> http://www.enterthegame.com/ Me> And they're being paranoid as shit for no real reason. Only in Chemical Plant 1 right now, but... 1) Roll more often. 2) Never stop for an invincibility box unless it a) is in your way and b) getting it would increase your speed in getting to the end. I can't quite understand why you nabbed the invinc box in Chem Plant 1. 3) You had the right path in EH1, but I -know- Sonic can do the same general thing Knux can - roll before you launch after the speed shoes (you can improve the jump to the ledge and over the spikes so you come down quicker, btw) and then pick enemies to bounce off of. It's really fun to watch if you do it right. 4) You can do EH Eggman a bit faster. 2 passes instead of 3. Better than last time, though. I've only ever gotten a 22s for EH1 using Knuckles. Almost a 21, but the clock ticked another second on RIGHT as I hit the goal marker. The record for the stage is 20, though. You need a nigh-flawless go for that, but it's impressive as all hell to watch.

Revive, dammit! Reviiiiiiiive! >< Best I've managed on a normal run (-a- savestate, no frame advancing) is 22 seconds with Knuckles. And the only friggin' reason it isn't a second or so shorter is because Knuckles flies about twice as high as Sonic for some inane reason. It looks impressive, at least. x.x;

The thing about SNES Battletoads is that it's...very, very repetitive. There are two (three?) levels where you're on a giant hockey puck of sorts and are just sliding through the strangest scenary ever. It's like they decided they didn't have enough levels finished, so they tore the stages from another game entirely. For my two cents: Brainlord (It's Lagoon on acid!) Demon's Crest Earthbound Ghoul Patrol (It's the Deadly Towers of SNES games >>;) Pilotwings (?) Rocky Rodent (Does anyone even remember this one? :/) Rockman & Forte Super Buster Brothers (Maybe. It'd be tough to make interesting, but...) Twisted Tales of Spike McFang Zombies Ate My Neighbors (Did anyone honestly expect me not to mention it? Anyway, the SNES version's sound is FAR superior to the Genesis') I dunno how many folks have played some of the more no-name titles on that list, like Rocky and Ghoul Patrol.... but Rocky can be pretty fast if you know where you're going, and has style points since you're beating things up with your HAIR. >>; Brain Lord could be beaten very quickly with rerecords and slowdown, I feel....though, admittedly, I've never even gotten to the second boss. :x

I dunno how Kirby's tilt game was handled, but the two GBA games I've emulated (Mawaru! Made in Wario = ><) used the L/R triggers for tilting left and right.
