I like where this is going. A category inbetween the two currently published movies that use all glitches except L+R sounds very promising. Labelling it "all crystals" and listing the heavily game-breaking L+R/scrollock glitch(es) as not allowed has precedence acceptance with eg the OOT "all dungeons" run.

While I agree with Arc that Zelda 2 is a belowed game deservant of many branches, I fear that a judge would not allow a separate brach whose only difference is 2 minutes of gameplay cut from a 45 minute movie. And while we're talking of categories: What about 100%? Is 100% different enough from any% (collecting 4 more hearts, 5 more spells, 3 more items, and perhaps maxing out levels)? I daresay it'd be way more different than the two any% runs at least, so perhaps a 100% category should forego the glitch, while a any% should have it (or vice versa).

I suggest that Mr Arc finishes his awesome run without the glitch and adds it to the submission-text-list of glitches he forego. That way, his run being publishable and obsoleting the current glitchless any% run should be ok. However, that does not rule out a future run using the glitch being able to obsolete Arc's run, so that debate would still be needed.

This is a great showcase of how much better a TAS is with inlined comments that explain what is going on. Thanks for a great run. Yes from me as well.

Was it ever settled if a Vault run for this game should aim for "early last input" (leaving the game to complete itself a magnitude of frames later, as Arnold0 did in his submission), or "fastest real time to ending screen"?

The Vaultable run (A) is indeed the easiest to get published. I'd argue, however, that a well defined "B" run would be more entertaining. I don't see the Pole Vault maxout as a big problem, seeing as there are numerous published Moon-runs with long boring parts in them. But if 8 days are needed, a "B" run is likely hard to get published because of the necessary (boring) repetitiveness of days 1-4 and 5-8. I don't see any chance for a playaround run during 8 days either. There's not enoung to play around with to keep it entertainig for 8 days.

So it seems there actually existed a topic for this game. Funny I didn't find it. Link_7777's run from 2010 does what I intended to do, so I guess I'm obsoleted before trying. Hey Link, did you ever submit? If you didn't, I urge you to do so. Its a good run.

After lurking on TASvideos for twelve years, I might finally be able to find some time to actually try to make a TAS. Track & field II was one of my favourites as a kid, and it lacks both a TAS and a forum topic here. First question: I cannot find Track & Field II in the game list when I explored the submission page. Does that mean the community does not see it fit for TASing? Second question: Should a TAS of this game aim for A) complete olympic/championship mode as fast as possible, just barely qualifying in some events (Vaultable), or B) complete olympic/championship mode with best possible results as fast as possible (not Vaultable). Third question: Would completing the first four days count as completing the game (as only the difficulty, not the game content, changes on day 5-8), or do day eight need to be beaten? Fourth question: For run type "B" (as defined above), should the exhibition events (Hanggliding and Targetshooting) be part of the run, and if so, after which day? My thoughts were to make a type "B" run, that runs through day 1-4, and finishes by performing the exhibition events after day 4 with best possible results. Would that be "moonable"?

I became a member after twelve years of lurking just to let you (Arc) know that there are more people eagerly following and appreaciating your updates. Great work (again), and looking forward to the next update.

I second scrimpeh, but I don't believe there's enough glitches that are not already present in the published runs to warrant a "glitchfest" run of SMB1.
