After much thought, we have decided on a slightly altered route:
BoI --> Toad --> SLR --> GG --> Vanish --> MIPS --> PPP --> CH --> B1

Here is the world 5 early video:

This clip works by getting enough speed with the L button trick, and then hitting L on the right frame to clip through. This makes the ball go underground but not Glover, so this allows you to walk around a few seconds in the animation where you stand on the ball, and you it seems like you can go through any walls in this state.

I found a way to clip into the 2nd last world from the very start of the game.
Unfortunately, once you beat the boss, it goes back to the opening scene at the start. If you try to unlock a world, it unlocks the first one (although the save menu says 3% completion, and if you clip back into the world the boss door is unlocked).
If you try to do the clip after beating either the first boss or the tutorial level (so you have the ball again), the loading zone isn't there to warp into the 5th world. You can stand inside the area but you don't get teleported.
So, this seems to be useless unless someone can prove me otherwise, which I would love!
This would save almost 10 minutes.

Oh no, a new idea was implemented! What a disgrace! But not just that, you guys even had the nerve to change it back after it didn't work out! What the hell, this affects me so much!

"Super Mario 64 (NTSC) [Japanese-Shindou Edition (Rumble Pak)] 30 frames per second. This is special version, where the BLJ trick is fixed"
I feel like the next 70 star BLJless TAS that is made should be done on this version. It just seems better than using other versions and pretending the glitch doesn't exist.

Isn't there a bumble bee mini game? Could you clip out of it with the clip you posted before?
EDIT: I recall hacking going OOB in a minigame before, I'm pretty sure you get loaded in the level it's in.

I did not compare those routes, but I have another one that's very close to working that will save a lot of time. (Will post later)
For the Lakitu, I found that since I triggered the lap animation at the same time I was supposed to get picked up, he would never come.
And I would be willing to help you with whatever you need for that.
Yeah, I wasn't going for too much optimization, I was reading a lot about optimization in this game last night so I feel like I know a lot more now.

If I'm correct, this is about an 8 second improvement in reaching the final level. This also improves by 6 lag frames to the point where I use a different route. I tried to hex the rest of nitrogenesis' movie to this but it didn't work. If anyone finishes this up and at least ties the current movie in all parts, I would want to co-author with them.
