As this isn't done on VBA-24m which is more accurate, can I request that this isn't published yet as I will redo it?

Could you please name those movies you're thinking of?
I can't name any off the top of my head, but you would probably find some if you searched through all the platformer movies.

I don't really see anything super-human, Kyman. A few hours after my post I tried doing the glitch on console and succeeded easily.
The points I just made and the submission text don't mention anything about the glitch being hard to do on console. EDIT: If you're looking for something blatantly super-human in the whole run, the boss fight is. There is a bit of luck manipulation involved in getting him to jump, and running under him requires very precise timing in order to not die. Then I start shooting at him every other frame from the first frame possible. Also, if it looks like I have a missed shot, it's from the boss not me.

So far the votes have been quite mixed and this could be judged either way. Here is why I think that this TAS should be published: - Some say it's boring, I personally think it isn't that bad to watch. There are other movies on the site that are similar speed platformers (some that have been published recently). - It's only 1:43 long, so it's hard to argue that the movie is too long. - It's technically well done, although it seems sloppy. I spent time optimizing everything and tested which places were slower to take damage. - It should complete the trio of Nintendo Addams Family games with the NES and SNES.

This looks extremely sloppy. Of all the times you get hit, every one of them seems to slow you down a lot. Is it not faster to just avoid them then? Even the boss battle looks like it could be tightened.
I tested each obstacle as I said, and the obstacles that were faster to take damage I used. What do you see in the boss battle? I have to shoot once to trigger him to jump, otherwise I couldn't get to his back to kill him much faster.

Nope, no matter what you do you go backwards.

Just curious, why was this version of VBA used instead of vba-v24m? In case you're worried about the above question affecting my vote, I won't vote for this submission. :)
I wasn't aware of this version until now.

I couldn't even really tell that a warp had occurred... it just looked like you went through a door and then ended up at a boss fight.
I warp at the part where the barrels are, not the door before the boss fight.

I believe that's where you go to the final level anyways. It only works when you are on the exact level of the barrels. I think it's more of a glitched warp than a cheat code.

Kyman, which service do you prefer to download from? Torrents work pretty odd for me. The file is 63MB. Can you download from ifolder.ru?
I believe so.

Would you have any interest in doing a run without wall-zips? It's up to you whether you actually get all the items (i.e. you could skip Disk 1 and maybe the ability to charge your cipher).
If the game was more simple to TAS I would, so I don't think I want to. It's a bit harder than it looks to TAS. Thanks everybody for all the voting and responses though.

Can you send me that encode possibly? I would love to have it on my channel too.

I was 18 frames behind in that m64, after I realized it was on the file selection screen. I know some of mine is improvable though.

I finished with a final time of 3:47, an improvement of 1:42 over the previous movie. Here is the .fm2. I managed to skip Matic completely, which also basically skips the entire last level. Other improvements include a new route in the last part of Australia which involves more zips, killing the first part of the Australia boss in one cycle, and precise optimization throughout. I will submit an improved version by around a second or so that includes some small optimization improvements that I am going to hex in, but for now here is what I have. EDIT: here is a quick youtube encode: Link to video EDIT2: Looks like hexing isn't as easy as I thought it would be, so I'm redoing the run completely from the start, and after the end of the first level I am just over 4 seconds ahead of my previous attempt, due to more optimization and a new ending strat

Does anyone happen to know how to do the first back flip in Spiral Mountain? I can't seem to do it.

Here's a youtube video for anyone interested: Link to video Edit: Dunno why it loops again at the end.

Is this something that may be possible? I suddenly find myself with more free time and could spend some time trying to make it, if you think it could use more testing.
Unless we have the ground pound move (can't quite remember its name), I don't think so. But feel free to try! Also, I am uploading the video to my test and it's going to take about 2 hours or so.

Well now I feel dumb, everything I said before was already known! Anyways, to get used to TASing this game, I did a sort of test run-ish .m64 of Spiral Mountain, not collecting any honeycombs, just getting into the lair as fast as possible (video coming soon). I found when talking to Bottles, I am 1.5 seconds ahead of Sami's 100% TAS. In this, I showcase the new movement for before talon trot, and I also jump out of the back-flip landing on the spiral unlike Sami, and I skip the top of the spiral Bottles text differently than Sami, and I also show the back-flip after roll into doors trick. As a side note, for this route, I almost went from the top of one of the trees right on to the spiral. I couldn't do it, but it was very close.

Would resets benefit this run in anyway, and if so where?
1 place I can think of: between RBB's lair jiggy and CCW. It's a long way from one to the other and resetting to the start of the lair puts you close-ish to the perfect warp cauldron (assuming they were activated and the puzzle completed earlier) iirc.
That might work, I was also wondering maybe reset to skip the credits after the trivia? Would that work?

Thank you for all of the information everyone. I would really like to start on doing Spiral Mountain, but I still am having trouble finding the facing address. If someone could help me out and find it, I would be extremely grateful! Edit: Would resets benefit this run in anyway, and if so where?

can someone explain how he enters the door while swimming? O_o doesn’t that mean it’s actually possible with perfect position?
He edited his position with MHS to be out of the water for one frame, and be in front of the door the next frame.

So first of all, I found the speed address: 00C67F70 (Float) I found that swimming speed is 300, running and jumping speed is 500, rolling and normal flying speed is 600, and talon trot is 700. So I then figured that for the start of the game, instead of doing what Sami did with the roll jump and fly, it would be faster to just repeatedly roll and jump. Which then led me to discover a way to keep rolling speed. At the end of a roll, you can continue getting 600 speed if you hit Z+A to do a back flip, because when you are going into the back flip and sliding you still have 600 speed. I figured this would be useful going when exiting areas before we have the talon trot (into the lair, into Mumbo's Mountain, etc). I then found that if you are running, and then you crouch you get a speed from around 490-530 (depending on the steepness of the slope you are on) that lasts for about 30 frames. You can jump to get out of it, so it would look like: 500->5xx->500. But, the only place I have found a use for this is the very start of the game when you are outside the house. I also tested locking the speed at really big values to see if I can get through note doors, and I couldn't, but I easily was able to go through things like bars and small walls. I'm not sure how much of this is known, because I haven't read the thread too far back. Edit: If someone can help me find the facing address, I would like to make an optimized spiral mountain.

One major issue needs to be addressed here and thats the fact that the game can be beaten using HSWKs. BLJless run seems a bit arbitary to me.
I think that can be covered with "Does not use acceleration-related glitches" as a goal.
But, "Big Boo's Balcony" would be slower if it were not for the effects of highspeed wallkicking. In fact, would the strat used in this video even be possible without it?
No, but I don't really even consider HWSK a glitch. It's something that the programmers knew was possible (in my opinion), but they just didn't think someone could/would hit A every frame possible in a row to slowly gain speed. You can also get this exact effect with repeatedly ZBing frame perfectly over and over again in a corner. I wouldn't even say the wallkicking in Big Boo's Balcony is hyperspeed anyhow, as you can get more speed than that off of most hills in the entire game.

I've saved around 300+ frames so far over the published run, here is a link to my WIP.

It actually does go up continuously.
