No, it's theoretically. As for the topic itself, it depends on how you look at it. Slower videos have been accepted, but never if they have concentrated on the same thing. Take for example the Akumajou Densetsu runs. They take different paths and that's why the slower one was accepted as well. But I don't think that a slower movie has ever obsoleted a faster movie.

I just don't think that's enough. Apart from the speed with which you make your selections I think this could be done without rerecords. Or at least close. I don't think almost anything in your movie qualifies as being super-human.

There's no "damage" in the game. You can touch most enemies and "bounce" off, just like the original Shinobi
Well then, I think he bounces off the enemies unnecessarily and even in the wrong direction.

There is already a thread for this game, please don't start multiple topics about one game. What do you mean by "technical prowess or a capable computer"? Making these videos does not require technical prowess or a good comp. All it takes is a little patience, the right emulator and a comp that can run windows or linux. Have you read the FAQ? And if by Little Samon you mean Little Samson, it has already been done and is available at http://www.speedruns.org. Someone ought to make a new run though, the one I have seen didn't use very effective boss strategies in the beginning. EDIT: Or perhaps it's not available. I get a 403 when I try to access the site. Anyone have information as to why?

Is it not possible to sink the ball from outside the green without putting? In many cases you hit the ball right next to the hole, so I'm sure by adjusting a few variables you can sink it without using an extra stroke to put. There were also a few short holes that I think would've allowed a hole-in-one. That's what I would've wanted to see.

I thought it was a boring movie, but that's not entirely Neofix's fault. I haven't played the game but it looks like it's really clumsy and slow. I do think you took some unnecessary damage in the cave levels at least. And the bonus stages could have been done a lot better. You should also jumpkick the enemies as much as possible instead of shooting/slashing because it doesn't seem to make the character stop.

I think giving an extra something to doners is a nice idea. It should be more of a "thank you" than a "hey you can get one of these by donating!", though. So nothing like bigger avatars to those who have donated, please.

Congratulations on a great run! I don't know if it's just that I've played this game as a kid or what but I thought it was truly awesome. Especially the log level in stage 2. Even if Aladdin is a simple and straightforward game this run was very entertaining.

Here is a thought that has been bothering me since the first SMW videos: Is it possible to get a speed boost in the first course by jumping on the right side of the football guy (forgot the name, sorry) at the end? Jumping on either side of it does push you forward/backwards but do you need to slow down or turn left before you jump on it? I definately think this is something that should be tested.

Personally I think it depends on the game. If the only effect of taking damage is losing health, I think it's okay. But if taking damage for example knocks the player back, I don't think it looks good. Sleepz's MM3 run is a good example of how I wouldn't like thingsto be done. But then again, it was obviously faster than it would have been had he not taken any damage, so basically even if I had the energy to do a no-damage run of MM3, it would be in vein because it would be longer than the existing run and probably wouldn't be published.

Have you watched your own movie? You press start right before you end the movie, so it stays in the menu unless the player does something after "movie end". I can't say much about the timeattack itself because I have not played the game.

I think being creative and versatile with the special weapons would be a lot more entertaining and even impressive than just using the regular weapon (and the two others you described). I think the special weapons are what make this game so much fun to play and also to watch. It could also prove to be a challenge to use them as effectively against bosses as possible.

Yes, Mask Koopas. And I've noticed that some Koopas change their colour. There are a lot more blue ones after beating the special levels than there were before. Now that I think of it, I can't remember really seeing green Mask Koopas. So perhaps the green ones turn into blue ones?

Whoa, awesome. This just climbed to the top of the list of movies that I anticipate the most. Are you simply planning to optimize the fights further, or do you have some new information or something?

Why don't you use the special weapons? It would make the movie more entertaining AND faster.

There are lots of systems, but only one System. And I'm proud of my NES, never really even wanted to own any others.

A great run, just finished watching it. There are, as said, things to improve. I don't know whether you intentionally didn't bother or just didn't know (and I even can't be sure if this applies to MM4) that when jumping to a higher ledge, you don't have to go even one pixel above the ledge if you are in the right position. What I mean is, all of your jumps (from a lower platform to a higher ledge) were too high. This is at least the case for MM6, I cannot be certain for MM4 but I would assume that it is. It is time consuming to do this, though, and as I've been redoing MM6 I've had to try some regular jumps tens, even hundreds of times to get them right. It looks very cool though, as you can immediately slide from the first pixel of the ledge.

I didn't really like the idea of refills, either, so I'll probably leave it out of the final version. I will try to be a little bit more calm with the boss battles, too.

I have not played the game myself so I might be wrong, but at many times in the boxing battle you seem to do nothing, you just sit there waiting, as does your opponent. One other boss that bugged me was the brain with the 4 blue crystals and the shield thingie. Can't it be done any faster? It really seemed like you were using some sort of a safe but slow tactic. You apparently don't have to destroy the shield at all, but you almost do. That's a lot of wasted shots.

I will revive this old and derailed topic as I am currently working on a new version of MM6. I won't be making any radical changes, but at the moment I am planning on starting with Flameman and then going by the same order as in the previous version. I have now done two stages and would like all of you to give me your opinions on my boss fights. Do you think they are too spastic and give seizures? Is it tiring to watch all that bouncing around? I would also like to know if you think it's better to change to Flame Blast later in Blizzardman's stage and then not get the two weapon energy refills. Get the fmv here (remember to save as). EDIT: Oh and thanks to Oasiz for hosting that file for me :)

Grumble grumble...I guess no one will ever learn to spell my nick properly :) But anyway, yes I have been working on MM6, although not very actively. I did the first 8 bosses already but I was not satisfied and I am going to start over when I have the time. School has started again and I have these huge exams coming up but I'll try to find the energy to redo the run. But I will do it eventually, unless someone beats me to it, because I'm nowhere near satisfied with the current version. EDIT: I'm not going to change anything major though, so don't excpect too much of it, I only want to perfect all jumps and optimize the slides a bit. I also plan on using different weapons more in the first 8 stages, but I'm still doing the bosses in the same order.
