Saturn, question: Since nobody's really taking you seriously over at Metroid 2002, I want to ask you about the suitless reverse boss order run. Do you have a movie file of it aside from your teaser yet?

As extensive as this hack is, I don't like it much at all. There are several things that give it away as non-professional work and it just rubs me the wrong way in many areas. Still, your movie was good and I vote yes for it.
Well, of course it's non-professional. Dahrkdaiz (spelling?) isn't making a profit off of this hack. By definition, a professional is just someone who gets paid to do whatever it is they do; an amateur does not get paid. So this is an amateur hack, but not in the bad sense. If it were to be played on a console, it would most likely push the NES to its limits. Many of the new features, including the weather and the item switching, were ASM hacked, and that's no easy task, from what I've gathered. If I were able to vote, I'd vote a hearty YES, and wonder why Bisqwit would reject it.

Bump for completed Rev 01 movie, since the rom that wasn't linked to at the other board is the new version and the current Rev 01 movie doesn't finish the game.

Fifteen stages, plus four bonus... makes sense when the rom is only 32 KB. This seems simple enough that it shouldn't take too many rerecords. Unless it does. Then I'll be wrong. Better get cracking.

So who knows this game? This is an Arkanoid clone for the Gameboy which features a Mario cameo and no back story/explanation why he's in the game. I'm gonna see if I can pick up the rom for this game and give a TAS a try. But I never finished the game when I played it years ago, so I don't know how many levels it has or if it even has an ending. Would anyone else happen to have any of that information?

In Sonic Mega Collection the explanation was that Knuckles clashed with some of the backgrounds in Sonic 1... but your reason sounds better than that.
The reason had something to with the palette of the whole game being dependant on Sonic's colors. Since Knuckles is red and not blue, it would've rendered the rest of the game in some screwed-up colors... or so they said. But then the hack I referenced in the first post of this thread was made, which leads me to believe (a) the Sonic Team was lazy or (b) lots of people have better programming skills than professional video game makers.

Frozen Dreams, saying "give it to me, right now" and offering little incentive in return is not the way to go about getting your requests filled. Tit for tat, as they say. You gotta offer something people want.

Forget about Twin Galaxies. I don't trust them. I've searched their site for confirmation of their records, but apparently they don't host any videos, or even links to videos, so it's kinda hard to believe them.

That wouldn't be very conducive to a speedrun though, since you'd have to wait all that time twelve times. One could probably record that part of the run at 50% speed, or even full speed if they're good.

In the spirit of this thread, I propose a Sonic 2 run using Knuckles. But I have to wonder if it's possible to complete this game. I recall, when playing it on console years ago, that Knuckles doesn't jump as high as Sonic, and that prevented him from damaging Eggman in the final stage. I think I tried climbing up the wall, but there was no wall to climb on. Can anyone prove me wrong on this?

Try setting your monitor to 16-bit manually before running Gens and see if that fixes it, or maybe to 32-bit if it's not already at that depth.
:\ Yeah, for some reason, Gens wasn't resetting the color depth itself, like it used to. Setting it to 16 bit fixed the problem. Thanks everyone. But I gotta wonder why it started doing that when it never had this problem before.

The most previous time I used Gens this was not the case. And I haven't changed my display settings since I got this machine

So I went to play some Sonic just a minute ago, so I open up Gens, load the rom, and this is what I'm greeted by: Doubled, side-by-side, incorrect palette. I first deleted the config file and opened it again, setting my preferred video settings, and nothing changed. Then I downloaded the program again, deleted the old Gens exe and config files, started up the new one, and... the same. I'm baffled. Any ideas?

I was going to make a topic about MLSS, but I found this, so... I think I got a bad dump or something, because I cannot complete the game. When you get to the T-shirt dyeing part, during the tutorial, I have Luigi hit Mario to get him to shoot the water at the little bomb dudes. Inexplicably, Mario turns 90 degrees to the right and fires that way, effectively crashing the game. You have to hit the bomb dude to proceed, so it freezes in its surprised animation and the game does not continue. Any possible explanations for this?
