I'm wondering where you got the idea that the game would be considered completed after lvl 49? The first post in this thread says that its a loops of 1-35 stage. The 2nd loop (36-70) being the same stage but with faster respawn. Or so I think, haven't checked myself, but that's what I got from reading this thread. I'm not even sure how publishable a 35-69 (or 70) run would be. If the 2nd loop is considered the hardest difficulty, why start on 35 and not 36 and keep the loop order.

If the movie is not entertaining enough to merit moon tier (vote and judge decision), and does have entertainment trade-off, what is even the point of having entertainment trade-off in the first place? Might as well go for full speed and still be boring and go to the vault. The problem here is the word "moon" which some people think it means more then "the movie was considered entertaining enough to be published"

Did you find this movie entertaining? No, sorry If the question was "Did this movie not bore you" then the vote would be Yes What a crappy game, they should've just given up on GBC by then...

Here? I'd be willing to bet that most internet message board/forum suffers from the same problem.

But I can't control 2 players same that, still training TASEditor, still newbie :(
Just assign the 2nd gamepad (in the input menu) before starting Tas Editor, there will be 2 sets of button, the rest of the process is exactly the same as tasing for 1 person

Meh vote from me, good thing it doesn't last any longer. Oh, and just since you brought it up as "For the Vault". Run can only be accepted to the vault if they are pure speedrun (either any% or 100%) Run with entertainment/speed trade-off can not be published to the vault. If you use trade-off, your run needs to be entertaining enough to make it to Star/Moon tier. I don't know the game at all, but Playaround/Use Suboptimal character/Demonstration all seem to point toward not being a pure speedrun.

I can't load N64 games. Bizhawk throws an exception every time I try to do so. This has persisted even after compiling the latest source (as of writing, SVN4386).
Roms need n64, z64 or v64 extension, its also in early stage, don't expect anything to work the way its supposed to.

I might have overlooked it, but are emulator movie file available? If not, that's a huge turn off for me, limited bandwith.

A lot of what follows is based on my opinions specifically talking about entertainment/vault (but I feel they are shared by a lot in this case) Thing is, this run is headed to the vault and it was obvious even before starting the TAS. Vault only accept speedrun without any trade-off for entertainment, somewhat for record keeping. This has been discussed somewhere else. If he would've posted his run including fighting Jade, the entertainment still wouldn't be enough to make it anywhere else then the vault, and it wouldn't be accepted due to the blatant speed/entertainment trade-off. And even if it was accepted, someone, or maybe even me, would've take a few hours and obsolete his run by not fighting Jade. He did make the right choice to put the most chance on his side to get his run published.

Hey GhostSonic. Do you happen to own a copy of Earthbound? I would love to see this run on console. :)
I really want EarthBound considering it's one of my favorite games ever, but the cost of a copy is way too expensive nowadays. Also that run is made Snes9x. I wonder if it'd be possible on lsnes.
You can get a snes powerpak for less then the price of one Earthbound cart. Unsure how feasible/easy it would be to modify its Menu/Bios to auto-load a rom instead of showing a menu, and maybe clearing ram upon load to prevent desynch due to unclean ram. Hell, might be possible to automatically "pause" the game after its done loading, until your SNES bot feeds it some data, maybe a standard set of keypress saying "I'm starting the movie now, let the game run" I'm not educated in such thing, so all of this might be impossible.

Wont work, the run is done on snes9x, unless it does synch with lsnes

If talking about the latest SMW submission, like a lot of people here seem to imply, where are those non-existing button talk coming from? Edit: Just got my answer from IRC, so the above is useless. I should've looked at the controller data more extensively. The "impossible" buttons are right there. A lot of your other debate point already been debated extensively on this forum.

If you are going for a speed run (aka not entertainment), finishing move probably shouldn't be used at all, unless its faster to finish an opponent then to wait for him to die by himself. If you ignore such a speed improvement for entertainment sakes, your run most likely will be rejected (Vault run cannot use speed/entertainment trade-off) and a speed run of MK2 sure aint gonna make it to moon/star tier, where speed/entertainment trade-off are welcome Hardest difficulty should be used, and about which destiny, I am unsure, I guess shortest would be called any % and longest 100%. One thing, I do know the first opponent is easier then the one coming after, does that difficulty progression keeps on during the whole "Destiny"? If so, it means opponent eventually get stronger in the longer "Destiny" making that the hardest difficulty of the game. Edit: "Can I fight to enemies with few attacks? Yes it'll make TAS look boring, but it help me beat game very fast" Yes, you have to, like I said if you are aiming for speed, you can't let anything comes between you and finishing the game fast, otherwise its not getting published. Fighting games are somewhat special in that its either full speed or full entertainment, otherwise its gets downvoted (meaning its Vault bound) and if there is obvious speed compromised for entertainment, judge will have to reject it. Just to make sure you understand, quoting judging guideline
Tiers 1. We have 3 tiers a movie can be accepted to. If the audience likes the movie ("Yes" votes outweigh "No" and "Meh", positive reaction in forum posts), it is accepted for Moons or Stars. 2. If the movie is found boring, it can be accepted for Vault, but only if it does not contain speed/entertainment tradeoffs of any kind (no damage, pacifist), and is a plain time record. Only 2 types of goals are acceptable for Vault: fastest completion time (any%), and full-completion (such as 100% or best ending). If you are not sure the game would be well received, don't include time sacrifices. You can also post WIPs on Forums to collect the feedback and determine the audience tastes.

Windows 8's default settings at Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display "Change the size of all items" is set to 125% by default (wtf?) This make the highlighting in the hex editor offset by, I'm assuming 25%. Ignore the OS specification on the side, that was for my initial bug report before I realized default font size were not the same. Switching it back to 100% makes everything fine, so not a big deal, but I was getting used to 125% size (without my consent). Edit: Tried to fix this, found you can find windows DPI setting using
			// find windows DPI settings for selection offset
			Graphics graphics = this.CreateGraphics();
			winDPIpercent = (int)(graphics.DpiX * 100) / 96;
			fontHeight = fontHeight * winDPIpercent;
			fontWidth = fontWidth * winDPIpercent;
setting the fontHeight/Width as double instead of int, and modifying every instance of those variable being called to include a Math.Round( blabla, 0) at the latest possible point in the calculation. Results were not concluant, the highlight offset was much better, but not good enough to be used as a fix

Did you just install the prereq package, mine was faulty until I manually installed http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851 Windows 7 x64 Also worked in windows 8 without special care (assuming the stuff came with the OS itself, as it was a pretty new install) I would also try to find stand alone installation of the other stuff the prereq package is supposed to install.

If you are building the latest SVN revision, make sure you build it in Release config not Debug. If that's not the case, then I don't know. Uncheck Config>Gui>Use GDI+ Display method (that makes everything run slow for me)

Ruling in Sticky thread of Snes9x depreciation wrote:
Snes9x v1.43 is, as of now, no longer accepted under any circumstances, unless it has been granted a continuance, or if there is proof that the movie was done before January 1st 2013. If a Snes9x 1.43 run is submitted and it's not in the continuances list, nor is there any proof it was done before the cutoff date, it will automatically be rejected. Snes9x v1.51 is still accepted for the time being, although the emulator is still deprecated and will no longer be supported at some point in the future. It is recommended to use lsnes or BizHawk instead.
Keyword here is "done". I don't think its the case here although. It's a shame, hope you still end up posting your smv as a WIP or in the game's thread, I sure would watch it. Edit: Appears you did post it, thanks, going to watch it now.

Now if it was an exact sync (so all up to character screen) at the same time it's best to go right 5 times as you get 3 different characters.... (Eddy, King, Jack) However if you went LEFT 3 times you get 2 kings and a Jack.
I'm late but anyway, since load time are most likely different in all 3 game, you can probably start moving your cursor before the other game allow input, thus allowing you to position your cursor before making em all move to pick whatever 3 character you want. So you could probably pick any 3 character you want.

Congrats on getting this moon'd! I never thought I'd see this day considering my run was initially rejected for bad game choice lol. But I have one question. Why is Happy_mario still a "newbie"? Or does he already have the "player" rank and it's just not showing for me? 0_o Oh, and I can't seem to find Happy_mario through the "Memberlist" for some reason. 0_o
My uneducated guess would be because it's his first publication, and they haven't gotten around to upgrade him to player yet. As for why he's still a newbie, well he joined 17 days ago

Yes, accuracy should be the top priority when choosing your emulator, but when you don't have any better, why not use what is available until something better shows its face? Taking my blast corps example, mupen doesn't emulate it better, it doesnt emulate it at all. And again, unless it was on IRC, I don't see anybody saying they are working on implementing PJ64 into bizhawk

Having the same problem as the guy above. Using MotionJoy for my PS3 controller, the controller setting interface gets configured properly, but game wont take any input (not showing in input display either) Keyboard does work, but that's not quite fun/effective for playstation games. Gonna go try to see if I can pinpoint the problem through debugging.

Why would anybody add PJ64 2.0 to Bizzhawk? It's less accurate than mupen and I have read quite a ew comments that said that the recompiler is a mess.
Blastcorp by itself is a good reason for me, although I didn't read anything about PJ64 being added, but I don't read everything.
