Thanks, but I will just test it. I try to defeat only enemies which need two hits, or best only 1 hit to defeat. When it takes longer I just most hit the enemie one time and just walk through it when it is possible. Most with every Level Up it goes faster. But not sure how much faster will Bosses be with every Level more? Maybe this is interesting to know? EDIT: So Marsh Cave near done. 10 minutes and I am arrive by the Hydra Boss. Manipulate the needed key chest worked great and cost not much time. Redone now this room without much waiting this time. I just defeat some enemies in the room before and now it looks clean and good. Get too the needed key. Arrive second Boss (Hydra)

EDIT: MattyXB, are you going to speak with and join the Man in the Marsh Cave this time? He doesn't seem to help very much (except the three or four fireballs that hit the Hydra).
Yes, I speak with him and he already join me. You can see it in my WIP which I posted here (I update sometimes the file, when I do a new part, so just download it again). First I have think I will first get the sickle and then speak with him later, when I must walk down and lose not much time. But the problem was the room outside to the right. I found no way through it, to much enemies which I must defeat or hit more times. And I am at a low Level, so it will take much time. I try to wait some Frames, but I will too not wait to long. So I try more things and waitings, but never get through this room or wait to long. So I speak with him as I enter the Marsh Cave at the beginning. The great thing, he shot in this problem room one fireball and I just run through the enemies without waiting this time. Was much luck. And maybe he can help me in other rooms too, that he defeat enemies, or that I can defeat some enemies faster, and maybe he can too hit the Boss often, when I can't reach him. Must try, if I can maybe manipulate the man in the Boss fight, not sure if this will work. But at all I think he is a great help for enemies. After I get the sickle I will defeat some enemies, because the sickle is much stronger here. But with sword it take to long I think. Too, because I need a mattock from the fish enemie and I think I will Level Up one more before I fight the Hydra, then it will go faster too. Marsh Cave get sickle Edit: get now the 1 manipulated mattock chest. I have try more rooms with this fish enemie. And finally here has it work. Cost not much time to get the mattock here adn I must not move so a long way for it.

Yes, I will try my best this time. The first Boss is as fast as possible. And the Lizards look too great I think. No miss and most the ealiest Frame as possible I hit at last one Lizard. Sometimes I must wait some Frames, that I get not hit. Or by the last hit I wait a bit longer to hit both Lizards with one hit. This save too 7 Frames, because I must not use the sword again.

That list looks good, and your previous run also planned items pretty well. Are you just wondering about whether it's faster to buy keys or mattocks? One nice thing about getting the keys and mattocks from enemies is that it helps you to level up a little bit as well.
In my second run I have only planed to get all items as fast as possible and use them in the best order. It has work. I have all items complete after Kett's Mansion. But now my planing is much better and harder. I try to get the items at the last possible place where it is possible, to save time. Because menu scrolling is slow in this game and with this planing I have all items which I need at the top place from my item list. So its maybe to faster the just buy everything in the shop and still scroll so long down till I can equip the items. I will now try to work hard and good on this run in the next days. I hope I find enough time to complete it, this time near Frame perfected I think and hope.

Nobody say something? Then I do it this way. I have make now a list, what I must get at which place. Can be, that this list contain one little error, after I look at this again. But I will watch my second movie again to find the best way to get items I hope. 7 mattock = 1 mattock chest 4 key = 1 key chest 1 Crystal = 1 Crystal chest Bogard house get 7 mattock (7 mattock) West Cave use 1 mattock (6 mattock) Marsh Cave get 7 mattock & 4 key use 5 mattock & 1 key (8 mattock & 3 key) Kett get 3 Crystal & 7 mattock use 1 Crystal, 5 mattock & 2 key (2 Crystal, 10 mattock & 1 key) Silver Cave use 4 mattock (2 Crystal, 6 mattock & 1 key) After Gaia Cave use 1 Crystal (1 Crystal, 6 mattock & 1 key) Flying Ship get 4 key & 2 Crystal use 1 key & 1 mattock (3 Crystal, 5 mattock & 4 key) Medusa Cave get 4 key use 2 mattock & 1 key (3 Crystal, 3 mattock & 7 key) Jadd Davis use 2 mattock & 2 key (3 Crystal, 1 mattock & 5 key) Montain Cave use 1 mattock, 2 key (3 Crystal, 3 key) Castle get 4 key & 1 Crystal use 2 key & 2 Crystal (2 Crystal, 5 key) Ice Cave use 2 key & 2 Crystal (3 key) Bone Cave use 2 key (1 key) Dime Tower get 8 keys use 4 keys (5 keys) ... Later you don't need any more keys chest, so the list is near complete now.

Hello to all. Maybe some have already read, that I now do a 3rd run from this game as perfect as possible. And I think my beginning is great and near as fast as possible in a no damage run. I need some advice what could I do about getting items. Earlier someone mean I should buy keys in the shop, where I must buy the oil. Thats maybe a good idea and will maybe save a bit time (I will test it maybe later how much it takes to buy items and how much the luck manipulation takes). I can too buy there mattocks. But one night on work I have think about something different, which will maybe help to get too a much better and faster time. That I can maybe manipulate the luck so good, that I always get so many chest which I need in the next Stages. This will save maybe too time, because the menu scrolling is so bad in this game and will take long till I scroll to the complete menu and equip the last items. So I must only get a new mattock or key chest, when I need it. So I must not scroll to the complete menu and the items always at the top from the menu. Only sometimes I need 2 key chest, because it is better to equip 4 new keys the equip 1 old key. I hope someone understand what I mean. But it will take long, because I must often see the complete movie and look, where I can get the next items. What is the best way and which is the fastest way. But at the end I think it is faster as when I have a full item list, because all needed items at the top.

Zelda Swordless Movie File I think I have download the complete movie from here. Not sure anymore. But this looked great and well done. I think maybe too Tool-Assisted. Fast and never get hit. Only problem, as I have download the file, the ZIP file was corrupted. But I have use a programm which extract the Movie and it has still work with some sound errors. Not sure if this is the movie from the Nesticle file. Not test it.

Not sure, never do this one or try it. But when you do it and it will work, you must redone many from Stage 9. So it will be much longer then just get the sword at the beginning and use it only for Ganon.

Yes, I think many know these problems, that you get frustrated sometimes while doing a good speedrun. I have need too for some month a break while doing a speedrun to get new energy and motivation. And I make too errors in speedruns and must sometimes begin it new. In the moment I try my 3rd Final Fantasy Adventure Speedrun, because 1st was bad, 2nd was not good and now I hope I know much more how all work. And the 3rd one have I started a second time too, to finish faster the first Boss. Boomer's Adventure in Asmik World must I start too a second time, because I was not as fast as possible by my first try, have not know at the first time how Frame Advance exact work. Later I must restart some Stages, because I found a new trick which helped me to defeat Bosses in the half of the time. So I think many Runners know such situations, that you get frustrated and must start again. But you always learn new things when do a new run or restart a run. I hope too, that you will finish this run. And I wish you the best for this one when you try it.

No, I don't mean the spider, which don't hit you. Wonder me too a bit. But before that you get hit by one spider, where you don't jump over it too. Or was it a desync by me? That were strange, because the movie played till you defeat the last Boss.

I think I must still press some buttons at the end, to reach the last screen, or I am wrong? The last screen for me is the black one where this message appear: To be Continued. And this movie will not reach this end. Only the points screen from each character. And some things looks not so good. I wonder, why you don't jump over the one spider near the end and get hit from here, what cost time. You most jump over all other spiders before this one and it seems to work good. Or is this not always possible?

Restart again, because I know the 1. Boss was not so good as possible. Now I found the fastes way. Takes as long as Tafatt fight and its the fastest possible way. Because you must hit him 8 times and this is always the first Frame, where you can hit him. My fight end 6 Frames faster, because I just enter A for Girl too. But the fight is near the same, only a bit different moves, but same result and same speed. Only that I always attack with sword up and never swing the sword. And you can save I think 3 Frames, when you move like Tafatt done it through some screens, that the character jumps some frames to a site which you need. I try now to do it too everywhere it is possible and save time. PS: The file is the old one. Will update it later, when I have done a bit more. In the moment only the first Boss is done, and this is not much. New File: Fight for Bronze Key Is at this point 8 Frames faster the Tafatt runs. 6 Frames because only A and 2 Frames, because I use the trick which Tafatt found out later in his run. Done at the first screen to the right after speak with Willy. Saved 2 Frames. I think this is impossible to beat at this moment. Only later, because I still want to do a no damage from enemis run. ;) Edit: Arrive now at Kett's. And only 99 Frames behind Tafatt. Saved some time, because I don't fight so much enemies. And always use the room scroll glitch when its possible. Edit2: Bronze Key fight look great I think. This time I have luck (or manipulate it good enough), all Lizards at the right side. So I must not walk so far away. Only at the end I wait some Frames to defeat both Lizards with one hit. Saved 7 Frames, so its worth the waiting. :-)

Tetris Level 9 Heart High 5 Time: 0:57 Re-record: 483 Here my version. But too no Tetris or 3 rows, its hard to do for me. But faster then this submitted one. And much more rerecordings. And it could be faster, when stop recording after I press right and just let the block fall down himself. But I still pressed down to finish this game faster. Is my second try for this game. But still not good enough for this site I think. Not sure at all if this is a good game for this site. Maybe to boring. Under 1 minute as I think before. Fastest menu scrolling then possible (I think). But gameplay to not the best.

I have try it too for a longer time, but not submitt it, because I played it bad. But its hard to do at all, Level 9 Hearth High 5. My time is longer 1:14, so its maybe a good start. But the menu scrolling is to long. But maybe for the Luck manipulation? @ Randil question 2: I think its impossible to take out 4 rows with one block. You can't get so high in this Level 9 Hearth (so not only 9, its more like Level 19). I have try it myself for a time. You have near no controll over the blocks at this speed. Maybe with much work and much more training its possible to make 2 or 3 lines. Or later when many is done 4. But at the beginning most not possible. At all for the first time not bad and with 0 rerecordings too. By my try with the time 1:14 I have use 52 rerecordings. But too not much Frame Advance I think, so I know its a bad time. But I think it is possible under 1 minute. Maybe I try it later again myself. EDIT: You can reach the Play screen at Frame 281. But here in this movie it start at Frame 493. So menu scrolling is bad. But I have not know about Frame Advance too at my first try. Only problem I have try it more times with the 281 Frame, and this is a hard start I think. But maybe only because I try 4 rows, and this is not possible at this Frame.

Yes yes yes. After I see the first Speedrun from this game I have think it is near impossible to do a faster run. But now this. Great shortcuts. Never know that these are possible in this game. I loved this game as kid. Would like to see too a 2-Player run from it.

I try it now again since some days. And saved myself 1810 Frames by the first arrive at Kett's. Still not so fast as Tafatt, but the main reason is the hits he takes and I will do a no hit run as the second version from this speedrun. So I am 256 Frames behind Tafatt's run. My first Boss fight is 2-8 Frames behind Tafatt's. But much faster (over 300 Frames) as my second try. And I saved 6 Frames from the name entry. I just enter one A by both characters. I do now a perfect text scrolling, which save much time, I think maybe more then Boss fights. I lose much in Bogards house, because I hold to long the button and have not know how Frame Advance work exact. And have not do a perfect scrolling in the complete game. Now I swing the sword not so often, because it takes longer then only hit infront of you. I try always to use the sword with the first step I can take, so I walk a bit and use the sword at the same time. So I lose not much time. You will still stand a bit, but not so long as you use the sword while you standing. This time it will take much longer I think, because I try to do my best this time. By every little fight Frame Advance to fight as fast as possible, take the first step and use sword. And see where I must enter the next screen to get the best way through enemies. So don't think it will be so fast finish as my second try. I will take much more time to do it, and will do much longer breaks. And I hope I don't lose my motivation so fast. Here my first work: Bronze Key EDIT: Defeat now the Lizards for the Bronze Key. Was a hard fight, but I think I found a fast and good way through it. I try to use only the sword when I can hit a lizard. Thats the reason, that it looks sometimes not so fast as possible. But then I can't hit the lizards anymore so it would be useless to attack. So I must wait some frames before I can hit them again. I must hit every lizard 4 times with this Level. 2746 Frames faster as my second one.

And a Damage run is much easier then this one here.
Au contraire. Effectively using damage is far more difficult than avoiding damage. In order to figure out where taking damage can save time, you have to think up all kinds of crazy ways to take damage and try it at hundreds of locations. Emulation removes the need for reflexes, making it possible to avoid damage. Learning how to use damage properly is an art.
Ok, I understand. But as I record this run I have see, that it is very hard and most only 1 Frame is missing and I will take damage. So I know too, that it was hard here to take no damage at all. But I understand that its hard too, to find the right place to take damage which save many time. But in this slow game it can't be so much I think. Now I wait and will see how much faster the Damage run will be. :-) But I like mine better, too when its slower. ;-)

Defeat enemies as fast as possible? I try it most without lose much time. As the guards follow me it will cost maybe more time, when I turn back and defeat them, then the short lags there, or not?

I like it too much more. But the NES runs are too great, because they have great shortcuts with the damage. But here in this GameBoy game are not so big shortcuts like in the first NES game where you save a complete screen.

But I'm not sure if there might be improvement in boss fight.
Without Damage I am not sure 1. Boss = as fast as possible, I hit him at the first possible Frame and use whip as fast as possible. Fireball will not harm him. 2. Boss = as fast as possible. Only when its maybe possible to manipulate luck and the frogs, that they appear faster. 3. Boss = not sure. I have try many different moves. At the beginning I hit him 3 times, this is as fast as possible. Then he fly up and I can't reach him anymore. Maybe when you move to some other place you can hit him later faster, but I try many things and you can maybe not hit him so often at the beginning. 4. Boss, 1 form = as fast as possible. You can hit him earlier, but only with fireball. Then he will not lose so much HP. So I hit him at the firet Frame where he lose much more HP and this is faster I think. Bad that I must wait by the last hit, or his shot will hit me. So maybe when you stand in another place you can defeat him faster, but I thik then another shot can maybe hit you. 4. Boss, 2 form = not sure. I try many different moves. But here its hard to get not hit from him. So this was the best what I found out for a no damage run. At all I am not sure if there are faster ways to defeat the Bosses. Its a slow game at all, and I try my best, too in Boss figths. I test all Frames and try always to find the first best Frame to attack.

2 No votes so far, I have think its much better and more would like it? I take no damage, so it maybe slower at some points, but its much harder to take no damage at some point. Often only 1 Frame more or less and you will be hit. So its a great run for a no Damage run, I am sure. And a Damage run is much easier then this one here.
