Just wanted to say that i love these comparison movies. From a viewer's perspective it's entertaining. Also, i saw your "X6 - X final stage run" video on your youtube channel, which was great as well. First time i actually saw the weakness weapons being used on the bosses :p X needs more love! Zero has been in the spotlight too much. I'd love an "X only" speedrun of X6 just like X5 got one, just putting it out there. ;)

That makes perfect sense. Though i still wonder. If you would use The End on her final form, do you still get the speeches parts (thus, you only "ended" one segment of the fight) or would that be skipped completely?

Just watched it all on youtube. Nice run! Enjoyed watching it and enjoyed following the (earlier) process. I have some questions about your fights with Ultimecia though. What's the reason you didn't use The End on her forms that need more than 1 limit break? Couldn't you swap Irvine for Selphie? Also, against her final form you use some regular attacks after landing a Renzokuken. Why not follow up with a second limit break? It would seem to me like that would be faster than a few regular attacks, (plus some talking on Ultimecia's part) but correct me if i'm wrong. (which i guess is the case) Either way, congrats on finishing the run!

Any progress? Or have you grown tired of it for the time being?

I too think it would be a shame if you quit your FF8 run! On the other hand, i would also enjoy seeing more of WC2, though still less than a FF8 run.

That was fun to watch, thanks for the upload. Too bad you use The End on Diablos though. (and presumably on most other bosses) It saves time, but imo it is far less entertaining. Though, most other bosses probably die from 1/2 powered Renzokuken's as well..

I know about the limit break trick. But if you watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKnp_vmyoq4&feature=feedu at 12:12, Squall uses the skip button a lot but, obviously, does not get a limit break. Is this to manipulate Quistis' limit break as well, or like i said earlier, is it some some of trick to manipulate Ifrit into not attacking. (he did no attack the entire match)

Just watched the latest upload on your youtube channel, the fast animations are such a joy to watch. Anyway, i noticed you use the "skip character" button a lot in battle, is this to prevent the enemy from attacking?

No doubt this is an awe-some run. I much more prefer the "defeat all bosses" runs over the "skip 'em" ones. Not only is there more action and footage, it allows to gather awesome power-ups like the hyper dash. However.. i think there's room for improvement. If my memory serves me right, there's a way to skip the slow "start-up" frames for dashing. I see you make a lot of ground dashes where you have these start-up frames. (or is it a small interval between landing and starting a dash?) Iirc, you can just hold the dash button the entire level and only hit the jump button to make a dashed jump. (And hit jump again as soon as you hit the ground, hopping) This does not cost you start-up frames, and thus allows for faster dashing. Now, i could be wrong because it has been several years since i last even touched it. Forgive me if i'm wrong. I can't test this before posting because i don't have the rom. I'm curious about the test results. Edit: Hail to dutch runners :P

Watched your WIP. Could you please next time give us a savestate from the point of where you continue? Fatforwarding in VBA is incredibly slow compared to the SNES and Genesis emulators, and fastforwarding to the point of where you continue almost took 10 minutes. :( Anyway, the levels looked great, but i have to admit that the fights do look sloppy. I believe better manipulation would result in a few less necessary hits... but yeah. Anyway, i'm interested in seeing more, so, keep it up. :)

Actually, imo, apart from Zero, i like the artistic style better over the X series.

et voila Apart from him trying to swing his ass this is "continuous". My main experience was to stay close at all times. If you're away too far, he'll do his roll attack.

Yeha it's possbiel. It might not have reached him cuz you probably tried to do a charged shot. Maybe it was too big and got blocked. Instead, jump as high as you can and use a normal buster shot, that will knock him out of te E. Honda attack
Gigafrost wrote:
Shiva - but making him jump isn't too bad since that causes the boss fight to end much farther to the right.
You're right, i forgot that. This way, your version might even be faster for you.
Gigafrost wrote:
Attack with the second charged attack, but the first half of the attack doesn't hit him at all. Instead, there's a small delay since he is really vulnerable the frame just after launching the final ring.
You're right, i hit him before he close up. But yeah i tested it out too and you can't reach him with a normal attack. No biggie :) Nice observation about the fact that i hit him after the final ring was launched btw. Your replies give me a better feeling about this run. I'd vote yes, but i'm still interested in testing results on Maha Ganesharrif. Still think it can be done faster. *tries himself*

Outstanding execution, the way you ran through levels is superb, but i have some critique on your boss fights. May i ask if you've seen my bossrush video for Zero1? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naoBhoyxKQI) Some of my boss fights are quicker and "use" the best boss attack to have the boss have the least amount of resistance. (like jumping around) * First, my Shiva (1st Neo Arcadia boss, with the 4 arms) fight is much quicker cuz she doesn't jump around. I'm sure you could've manipulated her into have the starting attack from my video as the starting attack in your run? * My Herculius Anchortus feels also a tad quicker. * Then there's Maha Ganeshariff. Did you know you can shoot him in the head when he's moving his arms swiftly? (like E. Honda from Street Fighter) You just wait until his attack is over. Also, he used his roll attack various times, did you try to let Maha just go walking and/or using his E-Honda attack? * Did you know you can hit Copy X while he's doing his ring-holders attack? See my video. You can also hit him at the start of the fight but i tried and you can't reach him without a charged saber attack. The rest of your boss battles look good though, i loved the way Copy X (1st form) was juggled up against the wall :D I'm holding my vote until i get a reply.
