No, but you can kill Kraid, Phantoon, Draygon & Ridley in any order.

It will be way out-of-the-way if I use the shinespark to get the secret message. But...it wouldn't take me a whole lot of time if I angled my missile to freeze those things outside the data room. If I get the secret message, I'll be getting it the "alternate" way. Otherwise it'll slow me down too much. As far as the item goes, I think I'll leave it for later. I think I might be going through that room both ways with screw attack(which way I'm travelling does matter, going up is generally easier than going down).

Was this the one from the old version VBA (before nitsuja took to hacking it, and its movie format was rejected)? Because I still have a copy of that.
Yes it was.

I considered Zero Mission, but right now I'm figuring I should stick with a Fusion 100% run since I already know how to abuse the game engine.

I don't have any plans to do so at the moment. I just can't see myself going out-of-the-way to see another computer conversation.

My 0% run has gotten a lot of positive feedback, so I'm planning a 100% run now. I already have plans for my first visits to the main deck, Sector 1 (SRX) and most of Sector 2 (TRO). I currently cannot decide when to get this missile tank: Should I get this during my first visit to Sector 2, or should I wait until I have screw attack? The two passages to the left are both blocked by respawning bomb blocks. EDIT: I've put up my WIP file on my website. Download it at http://www.kraftfam.org/~david/fusion100percent.zip. The movie file stops after entering Zazabi's room. Savestate 1 skips the long, boring intro. Savestate 2 brings you to the end of the computer conversation in Sector 2(TRO).

My Core-X fights aren't THAT bad, are they?

Just a quick little note to reassure everyone that I am still working on my run. I highly doubt I'll show off anymore of my run until I'm finished with it, but it shouldn't take way too long for me to finish the run(should probably be done before the end of sprink break). EDIT2: I'm currently at Ridley. Even if the any% run isn't that much faster than 0%, I'd still want to see a run. But the 100% run should definitely come before the any% run. I'm willing to make either run, but I consider my route-planning skills to be subpar. Also, there will eventualy need to be a run to obsolete my 0% run but if no one else wants to, I'll obsolete it myself.

I'm pretty sure that's not random. I didn't do any random number manipulating to get him to do that.

As far as I know, Nightmare is one of those completely non-random bosses(until it decides which color Xs it'll drop, which is a complete non-issue if you don't get hit). I just simply found(or rather, stumbled on) a set of movements that will make him go where I want him to.

I believe "space-boosting," as the M2K2ers call it, is the same speed as running along the ground except when the ground is uphill. However, I believe the space-boosting stunt I pulled off on the main deck from Sector 2 to Sector 5 may have been one frame faster than simply running along the ground. Space-boosting through sector 5 has been done before, that's nothing new. But running into five enemies that are all either attached to the ground or the ceiling? *grin*

Update. Savestate 9 leads to my entering the Nightmare room. Movie ends after I've collected the gravity suit. Not a real big update, but I'm betting some of you want to see what I did to Nightmare.

Apart from the fact that I really have no skill in hex-editing, it would change randomness in a lot of areas. A lot of rooms are affected by randomness, I'd end up having to change each room that de-synchs or delay so that luck is the same as it was before. Besides, I believe there may be other areas of this game that could be done better. I'd much rather finish this new one and start a new one. That said, I'd be much more enthusiastic about starting a new run if I could get someone to fight the bosses for me. I hate fighting bosses. In other news, the zip file is updated. Savestate 8 leads to the end of the conversation after auxiliary power is restored. The movie file leads up to(but doesn't fight) Nightmare.

Uh oh...as fast as my run is, it looks like there is a lot of room for improvement. I've only been hitting the Core-Xs with two missiles at once when they spawn...but apparantly it is possible to hit them with two missiles after they spawn, reducing the time I have to wait for them to stop flashing(since I can hit with two at a time). Don't worry, I'm not gonna throw away this run. It just means that I'll have to make another(or get someone else to do it) once I'm done with it.

I lay the power bomb there because there are some blocks in my way that I have to get rid of. If you slow it down, you'll notice that during the room transition some powerbomb-blocks are being destroyed. I get rid of those so that when I come back, I can just speedboost past the room with no delay.

Zip file updated. Yakuza is dead, space jump is acquired, and auxiliary power is on. Save state 7 warps to the elevator because I changed something between there and the ship.

By the way, how come Serris started in boost mode and took only 2 hits to beat? O.o
As far as I know, he always starts in boost mode and comes out of it at exactly the same place. For the second part of your question... When you shoot out a fully charged shot, it's separated into two components. If they both hit, they both deal damage. But you'll also notice a little flare animation in front of the gun. That deals damage too. Notice that I shot Serris at point blank both times? The flare is very useful.

I have some ideas for the fight, but in the meantime I'll have to deal with Yakuza and the pirate gauntlet. Neither of which I like dealing with. And then after that, I'll have space jump which is gonna be a real pain to optimize. (I have no experience with this sort of thing. Anybody have any tips? I believe you have to drop for exactly 13 frames before you can jump again.)

Believe it or not, I've updated the zip file again. Save state 6 warps to the elevator leading to the main deck(when looking for survivors) and the file ends after the conversation with Adam when the power is cut.

I'm back and I've finished my revisit to Sector 3 (PYR). The zip file has been updated. Save state 5 brings you to the end of my conversation with the computer just before the countdown timer appears.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to get in too much work on my run as I leave town Thursday morning. But I'll see if I can finish this sector before then. Also, someone out there should plan on doing any% and 100% runs. I can't see myself doing either of those runs.

Movie file updated. Atma, I've taken a look at your movie files. The power bomb expansion video is neat. Too bad it's useless though(especially in a 0% run). As for going to the ice missiles backwards...well, I think I'll let my movie file speak for itself. :)

I'd just like to note: It's definitely possible to kill Pirate Man both as fast as possible and without getting hurt. I remember doing so in one of my WIPs before I abandoned the run.

Yes. I've just now entered Sector 5 (ARC) for the first time. I had to do a little hex-editing to fix an error I made early in Sector 6, but luckily for me it didn't desync afterwards. The movie file has been updated.
