You spent a lot of time pushing the block. As soon as it starts moving you can start walking towards the stairway. Edit: Why is the level 4 challenge only with 3 heart containers? In a speed run you would have 4 heart containers, unless you skip the heart container in level 3, but without save states that's not such a good idea especially since it barely takes any time to get it.

Alright, if you're sure about it, then Ill just use the route you posted then. Yeah, I'm pretty sure about the route. If you want you can switch level 5 with the 3+7 group, but it wouldn't matter unless one works out better with the keys. Speaking of keys, someone needs to count them all up. I'll probably do that tomorrow, but someone should check to make sure I don't make a mistake. We wouldn't want the route to involve having a negative number of keys like it did last time.

I'm starting to lose interest in solving the 2nd quest also. Didn't I already solve it with the route I posted in the other topic? If you take some time to study the map, you'll see that planning a 2nd quest route is much simpler than planning a 1st quest route.

has arc seen it? If he concurs that your run is better than his then I'm sure it will settle it. Why does it matter if Arc thinks it's better than his. It's not an opinion question, just compare the scores and you'll see which is better.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying he wanted you to purposely mess up? Aren't the videos supposed to be perfect? Edit: I don't understand what Bisqwit means when he says something isn't nice, for example "Well this isn't nice" or "The second triple jump wasn't nice either..." Does he mean that it's not nice to get better scores than Arc?

I think world 7 would be fun for a speed competition, especially with the pipe maze levels. Ok, I did some of the world 7 levels today, and editted new my times into my first post.

I noticed you said "It's great and probably the best puzzle Zelda game ever." What exactly do you mean by "puzzle Zelda game"? Would ALttP be considered a puzzle Zelda game? I hope not, because if it is and it's not your favorite Zelda game anymore, I think that was one of the things you can get Gannon-banned for :P.

The problem with time attack videos is that people aren't told in advance how they were made. I just download the fmvs so I haven't seen the avis, but does Bisqwit put some kind of title at the beginning of the videos telling that it was made with an emulator?

I'm going to describe a scenario similar to the creation of emulator speed runs and I want to know if you think people would complain about it. Suppose that some time in the future, someone writes a program that can play chess perfectly. The person lets the program play against itself to produce a perfect game of chess, and it is so well played that any chess fan who saw it would be in complete awe. Two people memorize the perfect game, and replay the game against each other while it is being broadcasted on television so that chess fans around the world can watch it. The two people tell the audience how the game was produced and that they are showing it to chess fans for the sole purpose of entertaining them. Would the people watching the perfect game of chess start calling the two people cheaters and say they should learn to play the game the "clean" way, or would they watch in amazement as each move is played with such cleverness and brilliance, and praise the author of the program for putting the effort into creating something so entertaining to watch?

I just watched it and you did lose some time from being unlucky. You didn't have to kill the 3 goriyas to get the key. You could have just went around the locked door between the map room and the boomerang room.

1-f (S)(getting whistle): 286 I guess I need more work on that level. I haven't been able to master the part at the end where you jump into the leaf and start flying. I think world 7 would be fun for a speed competition, especially with the pipe maze levels. First I'd like to see you try world 8. For some of the levels it really took a lot of practice to get my times, especially the castle, so I want to see if you can beat them. Also, 1-5 would be much faster as small mario. Yeah, I've noticed that being Racoon Mario is a big disadvantage in a lot of levels.

How is Frogger glitchy?

I just noticed I'm down to being champion of only 2 games :( At least I'll be holding on to the records of the games I am champion of. I have a perfect score in Frogger and I have a feeling no one will figure out what I did in Jail Break. Edit: Everyone go check out my new Jail Break score. 1463!!! Do you think that's enough to convince people that the game is glitchy?

I bet no one knows how I got 579 :) Maybe I should get over 1000 just to show off. I could probably even get 10000 if I wanted to.

What's there too look forward to? The only thing that will be different timewise will be doing the glitch in 4-2 and you already know how that works. Everything else will be just about the same.

In this topic, we will compete to see who can finish each level in the fewest number of time units. Rules: 1. You may use a real NES, or you may use an emulator as long as you do not use save states or slow motion during the level. However, you may save before you start the level and load when you mess up to start the entire level over again. 2. Specify which version of the game you used to get your times. 3. Specify which kind of Mario you started each level with. The abbreviations, which are in parentheses next to the level, are S for Super Mario, F for Fire Mario, R for Racoon Mario, and no letter for Little Mario. You may not start with any other kind of Mario, but you may start with a star (but be sure to mention it if you do). 4. The name of each level will be in the form of world-level. The abbreviations are f for fortress, c for castle, d for desert, p for pyramid, t for tower, and h for hand stage. For example, world 1 fortress would be 1-f, and the second hand stage would be 8-h2. Times for auto-scrolling levels will not be kept track of. Here are all the times I have so far. I got my times playing on the Japanese version of the game running in Famtasia. 1-1: 294 1-2: 293 1-3: 294 1-3 (getting whistle): 287 1-f (killing Boom-Boom): 273 1-f (S) (getting whistle): 283 1-5: 290 1-6: 291 2-1: 292 2-2: 288 2-f: 272 2-3: 283 2-d: 192 2-4: 294 2-5: 292 2-p: 280 3-2: 285 3-3: 292 3-f1: 284 3-4: 291 3-7: 295 3-8: 284 3-9: 283 4-1: 287 4-2: 291 4-3: 289 4-f1: 282 4-4: 276 4-5: 285 4-6: 291 4-f2: 280 7-1: 268 7-2: 271 7-3: 293 7-5: 260 7-f1: 148 7-6: 233 7-7: 181 7-8: 275 7-9: 267 7-f2: 247 7-f2 (star): 263 8-h1 (F): 191 8-h2 (F): 192 8-h3 (F): 192 8-1 (F): 282 8-2 (F): 292 8-f (F+star): 373 8-c (F): 356 Edit: I improved a time and also added in a new time. Edit 2: Check out my awesome world 7 fortress time! 148 starting with Little Mario (which makes a huge difference in this level). If I started with Racoon Mario it would have been much faster, but then the level would be so short and easy that there would be no point. Edit 3: 7-8 is really hard.

Sorry, I'm postponing my new Super Mario Bros. speed run because I'd rather spend time practicing Super Mario Bros. 3. However, it will get done eventually, but probably not for at least a few more weeks.

In both Moon Lander and Simon, I could have scored much higher if I wanted to, but I only stopped because the games are boring. I'd like to see someone beat my new Jail Break score. I owned everyone pretty badly once I found out the glitch.

I already did this challenge and I posted my time in the LoZ topic, but maybe I'll try some more and see if I can improve it. My time was 1:54. By the way, I have a suggestion for future challenges. Maybe in addition to the other rules, there can also be a rule that you must end the level with a certain number of keys.

Would anyone be interested if we did a thread on LoZ challenges on this forum like TSA did on his? How about in addition to the LoZ challenges thread, we also have a SMB3 challenges thread? Would anyone be interested in that? For the past few days, I've been practicing for many hours to get really fast times for each level, and I'd like to see if anyone can beat my times.

TSA wants us to solve Zelda 3. So should I make a topic about ALttP routes? I'll probably also participate, but I haven't played the game recently so I'll have to watch TSA's speed run video again to review where everything in the game is. In Zelda 4 (the non-DX version) there was a screen warping glitch. I think that would be amazing to watch. I'd rather see a speed run without the glitch. because they probably most certainly require entering levels for the item, and leaving before beating the level In the route I posted, you only need to do that for level 4. These swordless quests seem very complicated to me. It's not really that complicated. The swordless route is similar to the non-swordless route, but I just needed to change a few things around.

What bombs do you want me to get? The ones 3 screens north of level 3? Yes.

If it saves time, then yes. If it doesn't, then no. I don't know how long it takes to clear out rooms of enemies without the sword.
