Seriously, why not make a topic about this game in the NES forum instead? I'm confused. Because there's a chance it'll be published. Btw I'd be interested in seeing a run of the whole game.

Do you think sub-16 is a realistic goal? That would be pretty cool, less than 1 minute per star.

I think someone should test how fast you can get the Chests In The Current star. It's the one where you need to open up those chests in the starting place. I think you need to get the Board Bowser's Sub star for the entrance to the Bowser level to appear, but someone should test that since I'm not sure. Edit: Btw the fastest star in DDD is The Manta Ray's Reward. Edit 2: Btw Spezzafer, do you know how much time it saved you to go to CCM instead of the secret slide? If it was pretty close then you should try the secret slide again since each of those stars can be done a second faster than in the other vid you made.

This is a friendly forum, so I think it should be possible to post a friendly submission and not have to worry about "forum cops" (not that I'm saying anyone here is a forum cop). Um, it looks like I need to make people realize how much power I have and that I should be feared! *deletes Bisqwit's submission* Just kidding, I don't even know if it would let me delete nesvideoagent's post and I don't wanna find out. Anyway, on an on-topic note, I voted yes.

I think I remember someone saying you need 12 stars to get the star from Toad, though you might want to test that out to make sure. Btw, does anyone have a vid of the best dire dire docks strat? I don't think any of the 16 star runs have used it.

For blast away the wall, when you jump from the moving platform to the star, can you do a dive there?

It would be pretty cool if Genisto designed his own SMB hack and TASed that.

Since when did fun game=good game to TAS? If the game has lots of cool tricks to show off then it's a good game to TAS. Anyway I haven't watched this yet so I'll watch it now.

Is there a video demonstrating the door glitch which lets you skip the open-with-star cut scene for CCM? I don't think you can skip that door, but here's a glitch of skipping the JRB door. Maybe you'll be able to find a way to use this glitch for the CCM door but I doubt it. http://rapidshare.de/files/6853198/stefanglitch.WMV.html Btw, have you been using frame advance or just slow motion?

I made 2 more vids, a non-save state Spaceport Alpha 3lap vid a TAS of a Windmill Plains lap 1. http://rapidshare.de/files/6850072/spa-13751-Fried.MOV.html http://rapidshare.de/files/6850260/wp-3105lap1-tas.MOV.html

I'm pretty sure the Hazy Maze Cave 2nd star is faster than the Bird Talons star in the Desert. What about Boil the Big Bully? I think that's the best one to leave out in favor of the HMC star. Also I think all the WF stars should be left in, just replace the 2 secret slide stars with Lil Penguin Lost and Wall Kicks will work. I'm pretty sure all the others are too slow.

I believe one slide boost will increase the top speed from 65 km/h to 70 km/h with a duration of about 2 seconds (maybe Michael can verify the exact time). I think it's something like 70 to 80, I'm not sure exactly. It's hard to say exactly how long the boost lasts because you speed up and then slow down gradually.

I made a TAS of the first lap of Jungle Falls that's a few tenths faster than my best non-save state first lap. I played most of it with the speed at about 80% or so and lowered it to about 50% for the hard part at the end. Most of it isn't so special and my non-save state runs look pretty similar, but the part at the end where I go flying in the air is definitely better than I'll ever do without save states. I recorded it with my digital camera because the avi recording is way too slow, either because my computer sucks or I'm doing something wrong. http://rapidshare.de/files/6773576/jf-1303lap1-tas.MOV.html

Oh, I was wondering what those st files were for. Why can't those be combined with the m64 files?

I tried recording from snapshot and it played fine. Then I tried changing the name of the m64 file and it failed to load the snapshot at the beginning and desynced right away. Then I changed the name back and it played fine.

All my times were done in time trials, known as "tracks" mode in this game. 50 is really easy in Ancient Lake, are you tapping A? Tapping A makes you go faster and saves a lot of time.

The crooked cartridge glitch would be possible on an emulator, just not any current emulators because they don't have that feature. I don't see why it couldn't be added. Maybe doing it with a gameshark code would also be possible.

I wasn't able to do this trick, but I did manage to get stuck in a tree! http://rapidshare.de/files/6755381/dkr-stuckinatree.jpg.html

I haven't watched the vid yet so I don't know if you did it better or worse than this, but here's a vid of the mips trick by Bright. I think this is the fastest known strategy. http://rapidshare.de/files/6750652/MIPS_Trick.wmv.html Also, here's an Amazing Emergency Exit vid by Myles. I'm not if this is faster or slower than Lecoureur's strategy. http://rapidshare.de/files/6750931/Myles___Amazeing_Emergency_Exit_-_13_Seconds.wmv.html Btw, for the first 2 stars in Whomp's Fortress, have you tried doing a triple jump like Myles does instead of jumping in the tree? Also try hitting the fire in the basement on the way to LLL to make you run faster. Edit: At the very end, maybe you can start running towards the big star before Bowser's message appears and then you'll have full speed already after the message.

Are you talking about the boss of the first world? I never knew that, I'll try it out now.

If anyone is looking for an N64 TAS to make and wants a good challenge, I dare you all to try to beat my non-save state times in DKR with save states! Some of my times are pretty insane so it won't be easy. All my times are listed here: http://tasvideos.org/MichaelFried.html#diddy_kong_racing_n64_ I have vids of some of my times so you can use these as a reference if you want. Also let me know if anyone has any questions about strategies. http://rapidshare.de/files/6421841/fv-2066-Fried.MOV.html http://rapidshare.de/files/6424870/al-4146-Fried.MOV.html http://rapidshare.de/files/6461854/jf-3846-Fried.MOV.html http://rapidshare.de/files/6462152/tc-4063-Fried.MOV.html http://rapidshare.de/files/6464845/gv-10770-Fried.MOV.html http://rapidshare.de/files/6505442/ep-2153-Fried.MOV.html http://rapidshare.de/files/6505461/jf-1190-Fried.MOV.html

I'm pretty sure you don't need to player jump to perform the shortcut on Rainbow Road. Yes you do, I can assure you it's been tested very extensively, the fence is too high to jump over it in that part.

I would like to see this progress, but wrong ROM-version doesn't allow me to do so. I have two legal game carts and I'm not asking if anyone could PM me a way of getting the correct ROM... ?:/ The rom name is Super Mario 64 (U) [!]. That's all I can tell you and that's all you can ask for, so you'll have to find it on your own.

The record from snapshot doesn't work, when I record from snapshot and then try to play it, it says "The movie has been stopped to load this non-movie snapshot. Also, it doesn't save my settings for the hotkeys. Edit: Never mind, yes it does save my settings, it didn't the first time but then I tried again and it did save it, though the record from snapshot still doesn't work.
