By the way Michael Fried, as you are the U.S. Champion you must know that there's way you can make the red shells to miss when thrown at you, and so you can do it with spiky blue shell but it is a little harder, do you know the exact way to do it?
I don't know, I haven't played Mario GP since I first got the game, and after I beat everything I've just been playing time trials.

P.S. If you watch the Wizards and Warriors video (which I hope you do), please oh please close your eyes when I get to boss #3 and pretend that he didn't knock me down. Thanks :)
If you messed up, why didn't you just do that one part over?

I just finished 4-2 and so far I'm about 1.3 seconds ahead of Sleepz.

Michael, if you still wanted to do the Zelda run, then you can go ahead, no big deal. I have some other projects that I wanted to work on. Doing the Zelda run would mean that I would have to push them to the side again.
I don't plan on making another Zelda speed run in the near future. I don't mind if you make a Zelda speed run that's faster than mine, but if you do, make sure the fighting is as good as possible. I don't want my video to be replaced by a video with worse fighting.

I just tried doing all sorts of different maneuvers before going through the door and nothing works. Maybe I'm being punished for getting to the door too quickly.

I'm doing 1-2 now. I did the first part of the level faster than Sleepz, but when I timed the Birdo fights, mine was almost a second slower, and I can't figure out what I did wrong. Does anyone have any advice for me? Edit: I just noticed that in Sleepz video Birdo shot the first egg sooner, but I don't know why. Edit 2: I just watched my video and Sleepz video a few more times and I have no idea what's going on in that Birdo fight. I can't figure out why he's taking an extra second to shoot the first egg, so I'll just give up and continue making the video with only a half second lead over Sleepz instead of almost 2 seconds.

At any time, you may end your game. With the sub screen displayed (see Page 17), simultaneously press the A button on Controller 2 and the Control Pad. You can cancel the game by doing this.

It all depends.
Ok, let's assume that each fight in his video is .5 seconds slower than in my video for each enemy in the room, for example in a room with 6 enemies it would take him 3 more seconds to kill all the enemies. Let's also assume that he uses a much better route than in my video and also uses Up+A, and ends up with a time of 29:29. Which video would you keep on the page?

We often compete for speed, but sometimes a two seconds slower movie has better chance to get published than a faster movie, if it keeps the audience entertained better. It all depends on various things, but generally more speed is better. Would this also apply if the difference is 2 minutes instead of just 2 seconds? What happens if Sleepz uses a better route to get 29 minutes, but the fighting isn't as good as in my video? Would my video stay on the page?

I just finished level 1-1 in my SMB2 speed run and I beat Sleepz by about .5 seconds. What's even cooler is that I used Toad in 1-1 :)

What game would people most like to see me do next? Here are a few games I've been thinking about: Super Mario Bros. 2 - After seeing Sleepz's video, I have a few ideas for how to improve this, and I think I can beat it by at least a few seconds. Super Mario Bros. 3 - I came up with an idea for a different powerup strategy in world 1, and if it works, it could save a few more seconds. Super Mario Bros. - I don't think 5:07 is possible, but with some extreme accuracy in a few places I think I can improve this by a few more tenths. Mario Bros. - I was thinking of doing a 2 player speed run for this game. The Legend of Zelda - This can be improved by a few more minutes by using a better route and also using Up+A. I hope no one chooses this because it takes a really long time to make. Donkey Kong - This wouldn't take too long to make since the game is so simple, but it probably wouldn't be too interesting to watch. If anyone has any other ideas for me post them here. Anyway, until I get some replies, I'll probably be working on Super Mario Bros. 2.

34165287 isn't good because after 5 you can't go through the lost hills to get to 2 and would have to make a long trip to 2 from the start after doing Up+A. Speaking of Up+A, was Up+A used in the video you saw?

Did you see Smokey's Super Metroid speed run? It's faster than Red Scarlet's.

I just finished my Mickey Mousecapade speed run and video length is 7:32, stopping at the exact moment that the last star hits the queen.

I just discovered a technique that can save a significant amount of time in 2 of the rooms in the castle (probably about 1 second in each), so now I have to do most of the castle all over. Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, I probably could have saved a small amount of time in the fun house and pirate ship by using this technique but probably only very little so it's not worth doing the whole thing over. I'll just do the castle over because it's more significant in that level.

I didn't use the level select code in my video. I did get Minnie's stars, which you get in the first level. Getting Minnie's stars helps you kill enemies faster. I'm not absolutely sure about this, but I think the time saved by being able to kill enemies faster is greater than the time lost by getting Minnies stars. Edit: I was just took a break for a few hours from making the video, but in a few minutes I'm gonna continue working on it.

I've been lazy again and haven't been working on my speed run for a few days, but I continued today and I just finished level 4 (pirate ship) and the video length is 6:04 now. I don't have anything else to do, so I'll try to finish the fifth and last level (the castle) today. Edit: Minnie is very annoying is the castle level. There are lots of platforms to jump on and I have to make sure that both Mickey and Minnie both land on them. If Minnie falls behind I can't go on to the next screen because they both need to be together to advance.

How can you be slow on the name entry screen when you can just slow the game down? Did you see how fast I entered my name in my Zelda speed run? Actually, an even faster way of passing that screen that only works in AoL and not LoZ is to turn on autofire and press start, and that somehow starts the game without having to enter a name.

If you're making a speed run for AoL, make sure you beat 1:36 because that's about what the world record is.

You aren't allowed to request roms here. It doesn't matter if you want to receive them by accident or on purpose, a rom request is still a rom request.

Now the video length is 5:25 up to where the screen turns black after level 3.
