I wonder how many movies are actually perfect. There can't be more that 6 or 7. Although there is a lot that can't be improved by more than two seconds. Please don't mention the SMB1 movie as being perfect, then again I doubt the small number of perfect runs to watch are actually the best to watch.

Its unlikely this'll get a star because its too long. I'm not stating a opinion you need to look at what constitutes star status in the reccomended movies section for first time users page.

You need the hover boots to peform the block skip. Thats why me and Acryte couldn't find it when we extensively tried to skip that room.

Here's how you can skip the infamous block room in Shadow it saves at least 5 mins. At least now, its possible to knock 15 mins of the previous TAS without the need for the bottle adventure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hO5gZuBFmI EDIT: Alternate version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_RY5-IPxPA

You can shuffle decks faster by holding B, the big problem this game will cause is the legendry birds battle. I'd advise getting a pokemon that requires luck to do a lot of damage throughout the game. Maybe paralazing the birds might do some good. I think there is roughly 30 necessary battles in the game. I'd love to see a TAS on this game.

Just wondering if anyone thinks the current movie could be improved, I'd be interested in having a go, although I'll have to refer to game resources to get an understanding of the game tricks. I've seen a video, which uses GG, but I'm confused if the games been hacked. The bit I'm refering to is located at 3:30, but when I did a wall jump to get above the pipe I wasn't able to advance any further, although would glitching into the pipe in the first level do anything at all. The only bit I could question is the previous run is the warp pipe section in 1-2 and the bit leading to the world 8 warp pipe in 4-2. Although I might not be able to find any improvements to it. [Edit by Bisqwit: Joined into existing thread. To quote hanzou: <hanzou>hmm a new topic about SMB1. I wonder if anyone has thought of TASing that game b4.]

Is there no damage storage with crouch stabs in MM?
I believe crouch stab damage storing was removed in MM; i certainly don't remember seeing any in the SDA run, nor in Petrie's descriptions of his TAS test runs
I don't how that was removed, because power crouching wasn't discovered till years after MM was released.

Is this some kind of weird third level sarcasm joke I'm not getting?
There is no sarcasm in what I was saying. I would define a cool glitch as the character suddenly moving very fast but without the need to zip through a wall, but you can still clearly see the character on the screen all the time, although the Zelda II glitch is an exception to this. An ugly glitch is where the character can effortless travel through any object, enemy or wall hence the LttP glitch. The reason I don't like the LttP one is becuase Link looks very disconnected from the game.

I have to admit I wouldn't be surprised if there was a way to skip the badge check people on the way to Indigo Plateau, but you need strength for the boulder's. It doesn't matter too much about having low level pokemon for that section but you should be able to catch one in a random encounter and then just teach it a few TM's so you can beat the elite four + Gary.

I have to admit I've seen all the levels up to K.Rool battle, so I guess I'll have to watch this movie in its entirety, but the one thing that really frustrated me when watching this was the long black fade outs. That wouldn't be so bad if it was just all out completing levels, but when I was watching it, it just seemed like a ten second burst of action followed by a long black fadeout. I'll watch and vote later. I have to admit that I noticed I the mistake that P.J showed second time round, I also noticed that in the lift section near the end of the game you charge up Rambi's move, but the secret wall leading to the bonus stage is right next to Rambi, it seemed to waste time doing that. I'm not going to cast my vote becuase its hard not to watch all the through without using savestates and the long fadeouts are just annoying. Despite that the game is obviously well excecuted and shows a good number of glitches and shortcuts. On a side note that last K.Rool battle looked really hard, I wonder how many attempts that would take to do because relistically the only way I could probally do is by memorizing the patterns K.Rools shot which would probally take forever. I would definitley watch it again if the AVI shortened the fadeouts.

Just out of interest does anyone think that what is shown here is done on a turbo controller. The guy said it was done on the PAL version, the video is short and it goes frame by frame its located here PAL is 50 fps

A move that makes the oposing pokemon flinch would always be a nice time saver, but the problem with catching unnatrually high pokemon is that there level return to 100 as soon as they level up, although that isn't a big deal and also they refuse to obey you and often do random moves so the luck manipulation for higher that badge pokemon + move + critcical hit + oponent miss would be trully insane For the fastest run you certainly need to glitch a pokemon but was Gyarados trully the best one to glitch, maybe Mewtwo would be a better choice if you had ice beam, psychic, thunderbolt, X move although. To be a just a little off topic the best moveset for Mewtwo in normal play is probally Red/Blue = Psychic, Amnesia , Ice beam , Recover Gold/Silver = Psychic, Submission, Ice beam , Recover Amnesia is overly powerful in Red/Blue becuase if its used twice, then not even Alakazam can withstand 2 psychic blasts. Its useless in Gold/Silver because it raises Speacial Defence and not Speacial attack, plus Dark pokemon cause a lot of trouble, but when you have submission, then its bye bye Tyranitar, and Ice can hold its own against other Darks. The only pokemon Mewtwo can't beat in Gold Silver is Heracross, Tentacruel and Corsola.

Hit boxes are usually mathematical constructs that are not rendered in any way. There's no way to "see" them unless you can locate the relevant less-than and bigger-than comparisons from the game code and translate them to screen coordinates.
Couldn't you get the orginal source code and replace sprites with a blue coloured bitmap.

I would like to be able to strip the graphics down so all you can see is the hit boxes, walls and ledges. It would also make spotting glitches easier if you see an incomplete wall. A universal emualtor that never desyncs with any game and allows soft resets would be nice also. Plus a TASbot that can brute force short hard to optimize stuff.

Does the game pause if there is a character switch (I guess yes), you could always use both. I'd rather see Diddy do the last fight, but its you're call and not mine. I doubt anyone would mind on what decision you take on the final battle.

Can anyone tell me how the Deku story skip works? Won't the tree not open up without hearing the story?
It works something like this That invisible gap can be cleared with a sidestep. Unfortunatley no one has yet found away on the outside area as a child yet, it could be done with hover though.

I think the exploration glitch from Zelda:A Link to the Past, because it's the only glitch I know of that makes beating the game trivial.
It is a very ugly looking glitch though.

Currently, there are some talks about leaving Kokiri Forest early. While the only proof of this working uses the levitation glitch, it's worth showing some interest in. Don't get your hopes up, though. I don't really see why you would skip doing the Deku Tree first, though. You don't need anything from outside of the forest to beat it optimally.
I've extensively tried various methods for exiting Kokiri, and have used emu stuff to aid that, but I'm pretty sure its impossible via any method. The only use for getting out of Kokiri is for swordless Link and you could use the bomb/bombcu hover to skip the opening Deku Tree cutscene.

Here's the completed run. I don't know whether to submit it. Mainly because of some of the slightly unoptimized earlier bits, but it does contain a few glitches and some highly optimized stuff as well http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2385/mikywrld.gmv

Really? Like what? I heard a rumor from a guy on another TAS site who says that his friend's cousin's brother said that he heard of a fake wall that you can get pushed through by a boulder after you get the Kokiri sword that will drop you into Ganon's tower (it's only one "n", right?).
There's no logic to that other than being an outright lie.

Well, the route I've thought of for the new 16 star run is 1. Bowser red coins [1 star] 1.1. Re-enter and exit boss area 2. Wompa's Fortress; 3. Get the usual 5 stars [6 stars] 4. Enter basement and go to SSL 5. Get usual 2 stars [8 stars] 6. Head for LLL 7. Get three stars [11 stars] 8. Head for HMC and talk to Toad [12 stars] 9. Get three stars in HMC [15 stars] 10. Continue as normal I wonder if sub 15 is possible.
