Then again I did find a lot of OoT stuff, which save well over an hour.

Of the movies I've seen so far, my favorite is probably the "warp jumping" that lets you pick up the magnet beam in MM1 without breaking the block in the way. As soon as you see it you know the game is getting effed in the a.
Hmm, somehow this animation fails to catch the essence of that trick.
Is that using left+right movement? Well the coolest glitch I've found is this, although this is a much more extreme version of it, and saves a lot of time as well.

So you've restarted? And are only done with the first level so far, which is why it's pointless to upload? Sounds cool anyway.
No I haven't, I'll upload when I beat the boss. There is some optimized and unoptimized elements in the game, so I'll probally restart when I finish and call this a good solid testrun. EDIT: Sorry I meant the first level of the fourth world. EDIT_2: Here's the fourth world, its pretty short. The sequnce break in the first level wasn't really a sequence break when I checked Nifboy's previous run, but it is significantly faster than his. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2347/mikywrld.gmv EDIT_3: OK I'm on that infamous mystery door level, which is one of the worst ideas I've ever seen for a level, my question is do I have to do 5 previous levels in order to advance to the last level, or is there a way to quickly advance to the last level. EDIT_4: OK, I've done a bit of research on the mystery door level and you're forced to play sections of levels from a previous worlds. It doesn't matter what door you select first you'll have to play through the swmming level, then you have to select a different door otherwise you'll have to play the level all over again, but this time you have to do the magic carpet level, then select another door and do the diamond mine level and then the christmas tree level which I bypassed previously and then the one remaining door which leads to the Magicians hall. I seriously want to kill anyone who ever worked on this for creating such a lame level. I estimate that my finishing time will probally be around 18 mins.

There are about 18 vowel sounds in English (which by the way is not 48) if you count the diphtongs, but it varies a bit with dialect. Each character in chinese/japanese writing does not represent a picture of the meaning it conveys (but this is indeed a common misconception). The absolute majority of characters contain a component hinting the meaning, and a component reflecting the pronunciation. It is very unusual to memorize characters visually, the overwhelming majority of people remember them by which components make up a character.
Well I can swear at when I was at school, when I was learning how speech recognition software works, that my teacher specifically stated and wrote 48 sounds on the board, although to clear it up. This is in relation to sounds like e.g. oo,lo and op. I also remember when I was watching a begginers program to Chinese that it stated that one of the chacters represented a mother and a child and the meaning of that is "good".

I still say English is one of the hardest, and I think the number of spelling and grammatical errors in your first sentence alone is an indicator of that.
You'd be amazed how often I correct what I've wrote, although many errors still crop up.

I've found a sequence break that skips a level, and its one of these levels that is a very long and tedious to do. EDIT: Done it now its pointless to upload becuase the first level only lasts 20 seconds.

I've looked all over the basement and I can't find anywhere to BLJ, both the Toads are too repellent when it comes to glitching through the walls. I personally think that there is more chance of using MIPS to bypass DDD in someway than glitching through the door without him.

I tried glitch past the basement door and entering from the wrong side so I could bLJ, but it didn't work. I think if mario enters the water at hyperspeed then it would probally kill off all his speed, this is in reference the area outside the castle, its difficult to build up a lot of speed and control, becuase you have to leave the top of the castle without being damaged, plus the of the water in M64 and OoT are all basically giant squares so there is a near certainty it extends underneath the castle. Only own way to know and thats do it in practice. Although I'd have a hard enough time getting on top of the castle with 0 stars.

The next step would be to find a place where you can BLJ in the basement, it doesn't have to be remotely near the star door. My question is if you were moving at hyperspeed through the second star door, would you bypass the DDD level, I personally think you would, becuase why was I able to bypass the pit in the first bowser room.

This would allow the next run to skip BoB. BTW, the basement floor and top floor don't exist, so its not possible. I managed to get myself jammed inbetween the key door and that didn't work, you have to activate the door animation.

If anyone wants to see what they can do with BLJ, then here is a fully reved up save state, now you'll understand how hard I found it to angle Mario on the middle stair way have fun. http://rapidshare.de/files/36976592/Super_Mario_64__U_____.st8.html

I did a lot of testing and the lobby glitch is TAS exclusive on so many levels. There is just the bare minimum amount of room to LJ at the right angle and I had a hellish time trying to get to the postion I got to, here's what happens when you glitch through the key door in the lobby and here is the more practical use for it, I don't know how much time the second video actually saves although it must be around about a minute and how will is affect the new route. I was able to at will go to any point I wanted in the lobby including the basement key door and the back garden where the boo's are. Its got to rank as one of the best SM64 finds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rX62_wF48Ac http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1fNwSGT0bA

I have to admit I would have voted no to the unsubmitted TAS on google because it doesn't incorparate all the best strategies that the TASer would have learned from watching FODA's run. On the current knowledge everything after the first 8 stars would remain exactly the same. The current route would probally be 1. Chain chomp stat using elavator glitch 2. KBO on top of Summit using elavator glitch 3. Star on floating island using elavator glitch 4. Wompa star 5. Star at the top of lifts in WF 6. Owl star in caged island 7. seam dive to get star near cannon 8. Glitch to get star in blast away the wall R_Z, so thats how I did the lobby glitch and it also make sence as to why I couldn't replicate once I performed it, there is definitley enough space to do a BLJ in that area. I also found the endless head bashing in the wall area at the end. If you go to the optosite there is also an area where you can get trapped near the star door, but I can get any LJ''s on the blue slope but that would definitley be a prefered place if I'm able to get it BLJ's. Although I'm absolutely convinced you'd be able to hit the collision area where the first bowser area is, but how does that affect the route. If anyone could provide a save state on Mupen with the lobby glitch already performed so I could test out all the range of possibiltes I could do with the BLJ's.

English probally is the easiest overall to learn, because there is no masculine/femine or any thing that must be said in relavence to the conversation, you just know from the context of whats been said. There is 48 vowel sounds, although there are some slight confusions over certain pronouncations e.g. rough-through . Both of them are said in a entirely different way. If you're learning to write in Chinese/Japanese then you have to be a highly visual person, becuase each symbol represents some kind of picture which then relates to some kind of word, but then it just completely confuses me when a different symbol is put before or after the recognised symbol, turning the meaning upside down. I still have to admit that even if I had some competence of being able to read Japanese/Chinese, I would still have to read it like some interpreter language, so I would never able to flash an eye at an ad and get whatever message its trying to convey.

Can you get into ghoma's room without going through the scrubs?
I'm afraid not, the nearest point to the boss room is the bit where you did the skulltula hover previously and it isn't close enough to do it I have a vid of the most likely strategy that'll be used in phase 2 of it. mwl, this definitly is quicker because you don't have to land on the switch or open the chest, you can also directly grab the vines when performing the first web trick. The room does definitly load when you reach it. I think the most likely strategy is to grab the vine at the right X-coordinate when the web has broken and then falling from a great height and grabbing the web in the nik of time in order to be boosted through, by the time the switch cutscene finishes, the boost from the skulltula will have already been initiated. EDIT: This is the most likley way of getting into the basement once the glitch has been performed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4CQkmnj1ls

I've yet to figure out how much time that'll save over the previous strategy although it does avoid two brief cutscenes.

I'm true to my word. Now to see how pissed offf Guano is for me finding this trick. It'll be a pain trying to optimize this trick. If this is done in a regular speedrun then I'd advise using the technique that I use in the vid. This is what makes OoTers go nuts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8e7-7Lb3wgU

Water Temple can be broken with 'Farores Dive', if not by skipping the need for the Longshot with the Infinite Sword/Bomb trick.
I think you may be surprised, in a run the WT will be completed in less than 3 mins.

I've made an important discovery in the Deku Tree I'll post a vid of it Tommorow, it saves roughly 30 seconds.

I've done up to the end of the third boss and now at the start of the fourth world. I'm not sure but I think I vagley remember that you have to re-do one of the previous levels in order to advance to the last level or world. This boss is definitley the hardest in the game because so much manipulation was required, espeacially when I'm trying not to make it look obvious. I hope you like my swimming technique, it saves somewhere between 3-5 seconds overall, since I re-did that entire section 4 times. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2295/mikywrld.gmv

That does get me thinking though. Maybe there is a way to use the bunny so that you can skip DDD, that would save about 2 mins.

That where it roughly desynced for me first time. DL goes too fast into the door and then does everything you just mentioned. I'm still putting this game on hold, until at least someone whose capable of enconding avi's can watch it. Anyway I have to re-check the entire movie for desyncs. Just viewing the movie from a read only savestate isn't enough to check for desyncs. Maybe it has something to do with computer specs, it might lag in certain places where it shouldn't or maybe I'm acidently changing input twice inbeteen frames, or the game incorrectly judges my tilt and degree of movements by a certain fractions, but then again the game has desynced when scrolling through text. I have a feeling that the post dungeon sequences might have a black or very laggy screen, although I'd rather have an all black screen for movie making purposes than a screen that lags very badly e.g like the lens in PJ64.

It just occured to me that during the Forest Temple it should be possible to do without the Boss key or killing poes, because when you glitch to the bottom floor you should be able to stand on the boundarys of the floor cross over rooms until you eventually get into the boss room. This of course would be near impossible in real time since the areas aren't loaded and so you won't be to judge movements very well.

I wonder what movie spent the most re-records for the amount of action on screen. I'd expect Sonic would come out quite high on this because there is often huge delays caused by bonus effect and waiting for bosses to become active and finish dieing. It would also give OoT a much better representation as well becuase cutscenes and dialogue eat up a lot of time. I would argue about 50,000 re-records was probally spent on 20-30 mins of the movie, while the other 20,000 was spent on skipping through dialougue and on easy to optimize sections.

Your run keeps desyncing in the first level you get Dixie then soon afterwards Diddy runs into a rat, and then you start doing all these comical afterwards. I even downloaded the emu from your sig but it didn't work. I'm starting to wonder if it might be caused by a bad rom. Check out the picture below.
