I understand your feelings. A few times you'll swear you got it perfect but just didn't get the right explosive upwards boost. The only thing about it is that a causal gamer or someone who hasn't tried it at great length won't appreaciate it very much. Once Shadow is complete the game should become reasonably straightforward.

I have no game paticularly in mind but would a TAS where one person controls two players or teams in a VS match, but creates an entertaining match and plays both players/teams to an exceptional standard. I was just wondering what anybodys thoughts on this is, and is there any TAS videos on the site or net which are like that.

I've made a very important discovery if anyone chooses to do the bottle adventure. The Ganon glitch can be replicated with a hyper boost so there is no need for the hammer, but you need to use 10 bombs/bomchus to remove an Iron Knuckles armor.

The only way to collaspse the statue is with arrows or bombchu's but my intention was to use the back-flip hover boost which is a stupendously hard trick discovered by Acryte, but you can use the super glide instead to cross the gap and do a quick turn and open the door. If Guano wants to plant a bean at the Colosus so he can go straight to the mirror shield, then he may as well purchase two beans since he has enough ruppee's and plant the other bean in the graveyard after the owl. THE IRON KNUCKLE SKIP IS USELESS BECAUSE YOU WOULD HAVE TO FIGHT IT AGAIN IMEADIATLEY AFTER YOU RE-ENTER DUE TO THE OBSTRUCTION CAUSED BY THE IRON BARS. (capitalized for emphasis)

Guano there has been a new trick discovers that pretty much obseletes the current route. Its possible to get to the Mirror shiled ledge without entering the temple, it requires a magic bean in order to do it.

Here is how Ganon early could be implemented into the run. It may require the megaton Hammer or a C item that can do a jumpslash. It may also be possible to skip magic providing light arrows don't require it in order to use it but I'm not sure. This only works on version 1.0. The following is Kazooie's explanation 1. Beat all child dungeons. 2. Then do shadow early and get hover boots 3. Beat forest temple with hover boots 4. Go to fishing pond and steal rod with hover boots 5. Go to lon lon ranch and pay to ingo for ride and hop on horse and then get down and now you have deku stick on b button 6. Then do bottle b glitch with nayru's love on you right c button and then go to child. 7. As child equip bottled fish to your right c button as child and remember you must have 18 deku nuts. 8. Then go to adult and you have light arrow on your b button and do Ganon early and beat ganon with light arrow and then equip master sword and beat final part of ganon. If Guano doesn't want to go down this path then he doesn't have to, but I'm sure that the next run could very well use this. Sub 2 is definitley possible if magic isn't required for the light arrows.

Unlikey, unless its possible to do all that within 40 seconds since pausing wastes a lot of time. I would definitley pay to see Ganon Early be done over bridge cutscene just to say a human couldn't do this, withing the time period.

I can fully confirm that it is possible to get into Ganon's castle early, but Acryte needs to show a successful attempt of the valley of doom. His failed attempt is on youtube, but he says he managed to do it once he had a bombchu. In order to make Ganon early worth while you would need the bottle adventure or FW.

No I haven't, I said it was inconclusive since I hadn't done a good solid attempt at it yet. Unfortunatley I find Mupen too unfriendly to work on and I would only be prepared to do it as part of a team, but I would be more than happy to be the front runner of it all, if you need to hex edit the best thing you can do is open two Mupens at once and use frame advance on the old version so you can copy it, although the randomizations and slightly different camera angles could render almost useless. I've been figuring out the perfect ruppee route and it may be possible to do it in 1:50 with a speedrunner doing it in 2:01 with uber luck. The bombchu ocarina trick (with sword of course) would save about 8-10 seconds and yes it does require a fish and the bottle to be present in Links hand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0_XkFqmIm8 Here's a detailed comment someone gave on it Get a bottle, then catch something in it (fish is easiest). Go somewhere you'll need the Ocarina, let the fish loose and re-catch it (this makes Link hold the Bottle in his hands). Do a backflip/jump from a ledge, and while in the air, press the Bottle C-button and then another C-button with an item (or even your sword). Link will pull out the item and put it up to his mouth, working as a fully playable Ocarina.

OK done marble 1 in 46 with an 11 frame improvement over nfq which includes the time saved from collecting less rings I certainly hope you like this one. Whats the best source for maps as I don't have a proper ring route for it. Collect all rings and wait approximatley 3 seconds for the spikes (which I edited in) in order to avoid taking damage. Get the invincibilty box (which I haven't edited in) to collect the rings hovering above the lava and thus proceed to the end of the level. 2. Mimic JXQ's run taking damage from the spikes and retriving 1-2 rings and getting the three ring boxes while collecting 20 additional rings as well and not getting the invinvibilty box. I know its difficult to see the rings and boxes but if you use the drop down menu you can view in its original size. This is the most important stage in the game for me so it would be extremley helpful if I got feedback. I had a go at DM seam walk and it is difficult because of the falling boulders. If Guano can't seamwalk without taking damage then he'll heave to go all the way back to the Start of DC and pick up the hearts before he enters. During the process he could also do the bombchu ocarina trick with a sword (one of the comments gives a very detailed description of how to do it) , which would save time over the fish dumping animation. DM seamwalk is very difficult throughout and isn't is straight forward as I expected.

Its not possible to blow up two boulders at once because I levated inbeteen the boulders and let the chu explode. It may not look like it but if you examine the boulders closely you'll notice that there is quite a distance between them which makes crumblimg the boulders simultanously impossible. It'll save you the sweat and bother.

I have to admit that I take the European view when it comes to American Sports since its all stop starts all the time. I just find it stupid that 1. Refs announce decisions in the centre of a stadium or court and anounce the decision on a loudspeaker 2. Time outs especially when there is like 2 seconds left 3. (Sorry for being a bit direct here) Real men don't need body armor I do have a good knowledge of the rules and mechaniics of all four main American sports and it iis enjoyable at times, especially as I like watching and playing all sports in general. Its probally because I like competive games that go right down to the wire and are decided on one crucial moment or something unexpected could or does happen. Football(Soccer) Will always be my favourite, but I do object to FIFA and the National Football Assocations objections to reffee's refering to action replays. I mean they do it in every other sport I can think of Rugby especially since there is 30 people on the field. The only reason the assosations object to refs refering to action replays is because "it detracts from the natrual flow of the game", which is just bullshit. Damm those tradionalists.

This is understandably comfusing for someone who probally hasn't pulled it off. The fish has to be dumped and re-captured because the bottle needs to be held in Link's hand. I haven't watched DC yet because I'd rather wait until the MS scene has been activated so I could give an exact playing time length for YL. I think its quicker to use the ocarina sword trick with the bottle e.g have an item act as an ocarina and then press B to remove the ocarina, this would save time over the fish dumping animation. If you don't understand what I just said then have a look at the videos in my sig mainly "bottle trick switch" and "bombchu ocarina" (it doesn't have to be a bombchu of course).

Someone please help me in Marble 1 I'm currently ahead of the previous 46 run on Marble one. I was ahead at the start with an ingenius jump that not only saves frames but collects more rings, but the advantage was short lived with the timed movement of the green podiums. I'm now ahead after more efficent movement after the rasing spikes that requires a block to move it upwards, but the damage boost is doing my head in because I nearly always get boosted to the left and when I get boosted to the right I don't go far enough. When I don't go far enough I required to jump under the falling block and get forced out which causes me to waste significant time. Unfortunatley I haven't grasped the concept of how damage boosts are pre determined, my only logical guess is the animation that sonic is currently on. Remember that the prize for BB is manipulated on entry and not when you confirm you want to play, although the setup for the targets, cuccos and moving spike can be manipulated as well. I wouldn't be surprised if you complete BB in <30 secs with well timed bombchus.

I'm fairly comfident that the Adult adventure will take more than 50,000 re-records since there is more high precision tricks + health issues + randomized elements (poe boost) = soul destroying amount of re-records. Guano, have you got an USB converter for quick spinning?

An on board hex friendly editing tool system would be very useful. It sucks realising something you did way back could be improved, but you can't do it because it'll wipe out all the good stuff after that and have to go through the whole process again.

Are you using the right rom version ? 1.0. I can't think of the exact rom id, but I fairly certain a different version would have a slightly different RND generator which will desync if a slightly different thing happens as oposed to what originally happened. I'm probally worng but thats just a sugestion but make sure its read only and every setting exactly matches the original movie file. Also did Guano remember to uncheck raw data. I haven't watched DC yet so I'll discover for myself later.

Seemed fine Guano I could'nt understand the first room in Jabu, The bomerang room was significantly faster. Guano you haven't got enough health for DC because you need to release a bombchu above Links head to open up the boss floor. I look forward to how you'll creatively bomb Dondongos eyes.

When you face Barinade try to get him as close to the blue warp as possible when you deliver the final blow since the warp is always preset.

Yay I made a 71 frame improvement on the seconds special minus a frame for collecting an extra ring so thats 70 frame net gain which is quite astonishing. http://rapidshare.de/files/24181121/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_ALL_EMERALDS.gmv.html Now act 3, I have an idea that might save 1-2 frames on this level but I couldn't be certain. I doubt 30 secs will be possible though. Since the distance between one frame and the next is so great giving the impression of teleporting. Boomb omb Battlefield is perfect demonstatration of this.
