None of this has surprised me, but I think new people will come along and do these modern game, and could lead them to unexpectedly improving runs of older games. People in general, are better are TASing, which leads to them taking longer to complete movies. This is further compelled by the fact that newer games tend to be longer and more complex. Hence fewer submissions overall.

It doesn't matter what the question is, as people will change it to suit their agenda.

I don't see what this offers over the current run. This used to be the fastest route before before the Deku Tree warp was found IIRC.

This game has a lot more depth to it compared to the original. Will we need a separate category for every character? I would have thought Captain Falcon would been the fastest character to beat the game with.

Games with slower movement, and tighter control are probably more suited to syncro TASes.

If you were running at a nearly infinite speed, then you would be compressing air in front of you so much that it would actually start fusing, causing a thermonuclear explosion. Even though your body couldn't take such a high-speed collision with air, and would be pulverized, I think that the explosion would start before you are dead. Thus, I think, you would be atomized by the explosion quicker than what the collision with air would. Luckily, though, this all would happen in an infinitesimally small fraction of a second, so your brain would be physically unable to be aware of any of it. You would disappear before you would notice anything. Also, luckily, this would be a pure fusion explosion, which means that there would be little to no radiation. But don't do it near any buildings, or they would get badly destroyed.

So over time, running will always make you wetter than standing still. You minimize your exposed surface area by standing upright parallel to the rainfall. If there's wind, tilt slightly against it.
I would have thought if there's wind involved. You'll want to run at the same speed and direction as it is blowing.

There's a mythbusters episode about it, where they did some actual tests.
I had a look at that exert on YT yesterday, and I noticed that their experiment is flawed, because they should be weighing themselves, and not their overalls.

Will you be dryer if you walk or run in the rain, and what effects would the intensity and the angle of the rain falling have on this theory? Logic to me would suggest if the rain falling perfectly downwards then it would make no difference if you were to run or walk due to being hit by an increased volume of rain when running.

You should be showing the console verified version of the TAS, because of the timing differences. NES emulators emulate at 60fps, but NTSC plays at 59.94fps

An improvement was long overdue. It must have been a pain in the ass trying to optimize that new sliding technique. We've kind of seen the evolution of TASing over time with this game. First we had slow down and save states Second we had frame advance Third we had memory values and lua scripting Fourth we had ???

No they do not. Who is to say which one of these two TAS snippets is closer to perfection, for example? And there is an near-infinite number of variations.
These are aesthetic choices. I would see TASing more like a big exam. No one ever gets full marks, but it doesn't mean perfection can't be achieved. However the correct answer for any given question can be worded, or hand written in many different ways.

Aside from pulling the ESS of the falling rock. I don't see what would cause problems during the escape + Ganon.

My understanding of TASing is that it's more comparable to writing a book than playing a game, because of all the revisions you make in the form of re-records. Also note that the sites names the run creators in the same manner ("authors" instead of "players.")
All TASes have a defined ceiling where perfection is reached. A book however can never be perfect. Even though it may be judged as perfection by many.

Wow, that mid-air jump glitch really seems to break the game. Also can't believe you move past the bats before they load.

Thank you, Highness. Here’s a wip to showcase all of the new tricks: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/10315155333900619
Wow, that's insane. I never could have imagined these tricks.

how-> break the first cube, clip a little into the left ledge, crouch and shoot. I want to show it in the next wip, but the power walk is a really time consuming technique, so it will take a little while.
I'm not surprised its possible. BTW, are you are aware of the trick to beat the last boss faster? I found the video, but the video appears to be unavailable. The guy who found it was bombman. I'm well aware of the U+D trick on the ladders, but it appeared to be useless. EDIT: Watched it back, and just realised it desyncs at around frame 6200 for me.

This to me falls into the same category as hacked SRAM, or pre-made file.

I don't approve of the dodgy power on state manipulation method being used to gain access to the last 2 levels. I'd rather see a run which uses the bug fixed version to complete all 6 levels.

I think there is a lot of room for improvement. There is too many occasions where you slam into a wall when it would be faster to slow down avoid it. I'm gonna have to vote no on this one.

I got 78, some of them I didn't know how to spell. most of them which ended with an "n" e.g. "Tajikistan" or "Liechtenstein". I'm a bit annoyed that Greenland wasn't recognized and the picky wording on "Bosnia and Herzegovina". Some of the obscure ones I've got have definitely been influenced by the news coverage over the last couple of years.
