It took me a while to sync up since there wasn't too many reference points at the start. So it took till the run entered the Deku Tree for me to sync it up. It was definitley a respectable attempt, my favourite part was when you accidentally said bottle opener instead of letter opener and the Zelda reference after Dondongos was completed, as well as the "Taking a break, OK I'm back. That must of been like a second for you guys.". I felt you made too many references to JXQ and Guanobowl, most of the references I would have been oblivious to (or not realised) had you not mentioned either of them. My favourite of all was when you were completely taken by surprise the shadow early trick, although there was various parts where you didn't even realise you'd witnessed a trick or something unintentional.

I think this topic should be in the general section.

Argh, this game had made a terrible conversion to the GBA, really slow frame rate and bad sound effects. After 5 mins I didn't want to watch any more, but I managed to force myself to watch another 5 mins to see if it would get any better but it didn't. It's nothing to do with the game being boring, since if that was the case I would either weather the storm; skip over parts or watch it in several parts. It's just... unwatchable... and it's not really that optimized either both in terms of driving and character movements. I give this a 1 for entertainment and a 4 for technical.

MQ was released (or was it planned to be released and never made it?) for the 64DD originally. I'm fairly certain, though, that the MQ ROM was extracted from the Gamecube disc.
That is true. The ISO was extracted from the MQ disk which contains Zelda MQ N64 ROM. Odds are that Nintendo ripped it directly from the 64DD disk. The likihood is they also included an emulator which runs the game on the disk, whether it's general purpose or specificly coded just to run Zelda I don't know. It would be great if someday someone could prove this one way or another. EDIT: Aparently it can play a whole range of N64 games

The game does have less lag so you'd technically be able to beat it quicker.

I have no idea how to avoid it, I've even tried replacing the F's with 0's but it makes no difference.

All the frames get replaced with F's meaning pretty much every button and direction is pressed on the same frame. On Genesis games is seems to cause a crash due to some input overload bug.

I tried entering "BitTorrent" and got 2008: 57,700,000 2001: 0 So that is a ratio of 57,700.000 to 0, which is not possible to calculate. I tried do another search that would yield at least one hit in 2001, so I typed in "Sarah Palin" and got 2008: 54,300,000 2001: 2,610 So that is a ratio of 20804 I'm sure it's possible to do better

So has anyone figured out yet how to zip in this game?
I'm not aware of a generic way to do it, it will probably involve doing something with the Concrete Shot.

The physics of the game seem very close to 5's. If I was making a romhack of this game on NES I'd start there.
That would seem true given that you can zip if you manage to get inside a wall.

You'll need to make it smaller so it doesn't stretch the entire forum. Perhaps having drop boxes like we do when we rate published movies would be a better idea.

Despite what anonymous youtube poster guy says, I think the sound quality was fine. Youtube depresses me. That was a very enjoyable ~3 minutes. I hope when you say "my MQ TAS" you mean that you're doing a full one... that would be a great watch.
I abandaned it some time ago.

He's not obliged to do it, and there is other people who might be equally as capable.

Having played through the game here is my thoughts on it. Firstly, I like how all the stages are radically different from each other. They all have different backgrounds, music, enemies and obstacles. Also the controls are (thankfully) tight, as anything remotely loose would have rendered the game unplayable. Also I'm glad they tried to immitate MM2 as opposed to MM3-6. Also the game doesn't lag up :) My main problem with the game is I felt the designers put too much focus on trying make the game hard by having lots of unforeseeable instant death traps. Basically, it takes a large amount of trial and error which requires knowing and guessing whats gonna happen in advance. There is many sprites randomly flying around the screen, more than could probably be handled on SNES, never mind a NES game. You might say "Mega Man games have always been like that", I can assure you the NES counter parts were a much fairer challenge, there was never a need to cram every room full of instant death spikes. I don't mind them being in pits or on the ground, but I don't like them being on the ceilings or walls as it artificially inflates the difficulty of many jumps and rooms. Still, it will be appealing to certain people for nostalgic reasons.

51 frames of improvement is not worth a submission. Don't state it like that is a concrete fact.
Sorry, I stated it as common sense.
Oooookkkkayyyy......... (you should be aware it's actually 102 frames) So regardless of the game, length and percieved optimalness of the current run. We shouldn't accept any improvements that are less than 2 seconds. Yep, that makes perfect sense.

A fast but not perfect run (4 seconds slower than me, 14 seconds slower than #1) through Galaxy Man's stage, showing off the time attack mode and the supercool master weapons
I find that so unaesthetic to watch. Simply because the ingame timer doesn't increment during pauses, which means constant weapon switching is encouraged. We could be left with a situation in the future where a TAS is faster in real time but some of the ingame WR's are faster.

<mmbossman> the gruefood would make up the lower half of the rating scale if they were rated
Thats pretty much the way I've always viewed it. Anything which has a rating of 5 or below, probably shouldn't have been published in the first place. Looking through the ratings in general I find that people award 9's for technical and 8's far entertainment for too easilly.

Your run had a simalar amount of frames shaved when it came to improving previous strats, I don't see how that makes it any less worthy

I've considered 2 of the options "No poll. But add "post <vote_type> post" buttons to where the poll was" AND "No poll, but enable rating for submissions like it is for publications" I'm not really in favour of judges secretly knowing votes or ratings because it will no doubt lead to power abuse or information that could be shared with other members of the site who aren't judges, it's also an excuse not to read properly through a submission thread. I voted for the second option I listed. Mainly because I'd be interested in seeing it trialled. I will admit that it could be abused with 0's because you don't like the game or the author and 10's for vice versa, or because you don't know any better. Hopefully most people on the forum will be mature enough and give sensible ratings.

While polictics involves a group of people who make decisions, it does not imply democracy. A lot of the time it can just be one person who makes the decisions which is heavily influenced by others a.k.a advisors.
