I don't know why such an emphasis is put tiers in fighting games. Ok in some games there is clearly better characters, mostly because of how good the secret ones are or because there is actual stats. Its all about understanding each of the characters strenghts and weaknesses, because of tiers in melee, pretty much all the advanced strats became developed for Fox and Falco.

Seriously, you either enjoyed it or you didn't..
Its not that black and white an issue.

However, instead of a blanket statement, would you please provide some examples of suboptimal technique for future consideration?
I have in the past but people just tried to make my claims sound either invalid or insignificant. Even though it turned out I couldn't have been more right such as this case . In this case just watching the current published Sonic 2 or S1K run will be a good enough guide to an accomplished TASer like yourself. The errors aren't so easily summarized like the link in my previous paragraph, while each individual error and imprecision might be a few frames worth there adding up to many seconds.

I'm voting no for two reasons 1. Even with all the goals taken into account it doesn't seem very optimal. 2. Far too many mixed goals which would make such a run confusing to obselete in future.

I'm thankful that you tried TASing such a game, but all my concerns about the movie are the same as Truncated. I'm afraid I'll have to vote meh on this one. One Batman game you might want to try is Batman Returns on the Genesis, as it has a grappling element which might make for some interesting aerobics.

Ok, enough of this elitist bickering I think I'll move on. Bisqwit, for once you're to blame for this situation.

Assuming you are referring to me with the "cowardly anti AKA people" remark, I will only respond by saying: I'm not anti-AKA. I'm anti- "retarded people who don't have any common sense or logical thought processes". You just happen to be included in that group.
Talk about a redundant post, I'm afraid that's nothing more than trolling. Your boat has capsized on the issue so you better swim for land and get professional help as you grow more insane by the day. To Bisqwit: You know this falls into JXQ style territory and the immature reaction that will follow it. If it meant so much you could have edited my post and inserted *fixed post* at the bottom, but as I pointed out later Mmbossman's post contained as many errors as you tried to make out in mine.

I'm not gonna try talk sense into you because you're resilient to any reasoning one might try and give you, but lets just say you don't have a wider perspective of the situation. Long story short, I criticised Bisqwit on IRC for being trigger happy in terms of publishing the recent SMW run, and for allowing no room for discussion about the additional feature he included in the AVI. Consequently Bisqwit starts looking for any excuse to get back at me however childish and pointless it may be. He may not have the gift of foresight, but he must of somehow predicted that cowardly anti AKA people would start using it as an excuse for bashing. Making a situation that could easilly be swept under the carpet far worse.

In a LJ and diving sense there is a forward momentum cap, I believe that sliding doesn't have a cap either, since some very steep slopes allow you to build up speeds so you can double jump ridiculous distances. Unfourtunatly you're unlikely to find any use for it in a TAS, but I guess you could implement a situation where its useful in a hack.

Sidehopping as YL is MARGINALY faster than backwalking. Where as backwalking as AL is MUCH faster than sidehopping.

Shouldn't that be the case for everything?

If you have a firm grasp of the character mechanics then that can help you exploit the game more.

That might be the case for MM but in OoT sidehops are the same speed thoughtout apart from when you land and it drops for a short period. Normally sidehopping is 8.5 but it drops to 7.5 when Link lands. On a flat surface Link lands on the ground every 21 frames on steep slopes Link lands on the ground every 9 frames.

EDIT: Also on hills, sidehopping is the fastest over backwalking no matter how long or short the stretch is
That is actually wrong, on uphills its slower because Link's feet touches the ground more constantly which loses speed. On downslopes it is faster since he has more air time.

Reply to Mmbossman's second deleted post: Mirroring someone's post and turning it back on them is a common argumentative strategy. Unfortunately in your case you quoted me and changed my post beyond all recognition. Giving someone else zero chance of guessing what it originally was. It wouldn't have been a problem had you done it without using the quoting function, and lastly a user would never greet themselves.

The problem is not the combined sound coming from the games unlike the quadrun. Its the fact that its to confusing to follow espeacially when you're focusing on a 3x2 screen and that means that you can't watch whats happening on the bottom-right and top-left screens since the distance is far apart.

I noticed that the AVI was encoded with the input display. Normally when I play a movie back on an emu I have the input display on, this is because it helps me judge the movie better. To a certain extent it is enjoyable, but heres where the problems start. Firstly by encoding it into the AVI it makes it madatory for everyone to watch, where in the case of watching a .smv its optional. This becomes a horrible distraction as it becomes confusing where my attention is supposed to be. Am I supposed to be watching the action on screen or the input display in the bottlom left corner? There are plenty of other movies which have input animation on the site but why is it so speacial in this case? If it was for something like a duo, quad or decahedron run it might make sense to have an input display as the concept is made more clear to the viewer. EDIT: Also the AVI the only goes partway through the credits

Side hopping is realy annoying to listen to. Hearing Links voice repeating itself for 45 min makes you turn down the volume.
In that case you'll greeted by backwalking during the adult segment.

I managed to improve GH1 by an additional frame. At one point you were 3 frames ahead of me but you lose one due to a frame of lag. As I suspected you had a better loop jumping sequence, but the roll method you used towards the end of the level costed you a little time. EDIT: I tried implementing your improvement into my .gmv. Unfortunatley it doesn't avoid the frame of lag towards the end, but I prefer it because of the fact Sonic glitches though the left side of the tele at the start instead of the right edge. Although I have to admit I wouldn't be to surprised if its somehow possible to save an additional couple of frames on this level.

When I TASed it a couple of months ago I got 3 frames of improvements so I'd be interested to know where the other frame came from *looks at WIP*. I got a frame at the start using that L+R trick and 2 at the loop. Unfortunatley I couldn't improve GH2 because of the bee, but I have found a method to improve the older TAS which doesn't go under the level. They are some other improvements in the game such as the Marble and Labyrinth's zones but I'm not sure if it will add up to an acceptable amount :\ EDIT: This is my version I found a glitch with the loop in Act 3 unfourtantly it doesn't seem useful because the the only parts that can be zipped at the top left and right corners.

I actually enjoyed the unassisted speedrun of Goldeneye more :P Also, I'm a bit disapointed that the Sonic 2 speedrun wasn't included.
