The other one didn't, either (in fact, it aimed for something entirely unrelated; to demonstrate the game and many of the bugs in the engine, not beat it quickly) ... but excuse me for liking that one more. I can't see how this one doesn't aim for speed moreso than the prior one. Aside from one or two places, few things seemed slow. I really love how my opinions clash with everybody here. I should try voting yes some time, that'd be fun to see
In that case I'm certainly confused as to what you think entertainment is. My best guess is that you think entertainment is when you feel you are being educated. Something which people familar with the game/engine don't need.

So a run that purposely doesn't run for 100% pure speed is "incompetent"?? I'll be damned!
The run clearly does not play for pure speed. I hope your not trying to be sentimental of the previous movie.

I didn't agree with the previous movie being published, but I feel this movie would overall make a better choice. As for my favourite stage I'd go with 3-2, I'll vote yes to obselete the current run, no to the run as a whole. So I'll come to a cross roads and vote 'meh'

Most people already know about forward backwalking, but did you know you can get pretty much any camera angle you want. Incase your wondering it does come at a cost of about 6 frames for both backwalking and side steping. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1skpnYAFZ5g Although there is one cool use for it, where it could almost certainly be used. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Brbe5AOyW1o

About the door in the moat outside the castle, I pretty much declare it impossible to open. Charging through the surface at hyperspeed regardless of how fast makes no difference, He always treat it like a swimming envoirment after a couple of frames, even if you could walk on the bottom (using metalcap) it makes no difference since the door does not allow it self to be open.

I voted for 0 star since it was the only run I voted for out of the 5 sub catagories, making it a no brainer for me.

Best card trick in the world! :-P
A trick like that could very easily be edited, if you look at the one minute mark the guy takes an age to flip over the top card.

OK, I did test on the first level out of proof of concept. I aim for about 90% speed and 10% trade offs, the trade offs only take up a few frames and not seconds, often I can do them without wasting any time given the nature of 2 players. Its fair to say that the levels will not be 90% turbo style punches and 10% team attacks. The fastest way to kill enemies when they appear on screen is with a team attack. Its preferable to have Blaze tossing Axel because she throws him at a lower projectile. When the characters are in a ball they can effectively KO all enemies. If they come out of there ball then the other player will need to apply a little bit of damage first in order to apply the finishing blow. While the AI is very simple its not paticularly TAS friendly as enemies like to behave cautiously at first, often back off when agressvively approached, the best way is to leave a little distance between the edge of the screen will facing away, that way enemies will act tentative for a shorter period and make a mad dash on screen. I also show off a couple of glitches as well. Incase your wondering why Axel kicks Blaze, that was strangely for manipulation purposes, it causes the guy to charge faster, if I throw any earlier the guy backs off agressively and doesn't get killed. Overall the level is about 7 seconds faster than the current run, it might not sound very impressive but it must be taken into consideration that there is an extra 20 enemies to kill and often they don't appear until you beat some of the eariler ones. The one thing I'm annoyed about is that I don't optimally do the turbo style punches the first couple of times, I autofired the B button and didn't do it properly like I do later on. Damage is taken like I just mentioned earlier on but only ever dealt by fellow team mates. Overall I'd say the level could be improved by 3-4 seconds. Anyway, here is my first level at long last

If all goes well, the next improvement should have no door-unlocking animations at all. EDIT: make that "non-key-door-unlocking animations"
I take it thats done by using the blj location outside HMC to avoid the 30 star door?

This falls somewhere between Castlevania and Zelda, I don't think RPGs make particualry good choices here since the luck manipulation isn't really been shown in such a visual way, while the runs I've just mentioned have manipulation done through actions, I've decided to side with Zelda since it required a lot of health management, manipulation of enemies, bomb drops and damage boosts, all while making it seem like a casual playthrough.

I've voted for the 4 player run of Elm Street, the quad really was't anything new since we already have the duo run of Mega X1/X2, the result of the 4 player was much more pleasing to watch since its like watching a whole load of army ants terrorising a small neighbourhood :-D

Castlevania, the previous run was already considered near perfect by most, but this run obseletes the previous one by a very large margin and the runners used everything to there advantage e.g. memory watcher.

I'll vote for S3+K because even though the other games are very much glitched, this one has a much bigger variety of glitches.

I vote for Upthorn here, and hope he obseletes all of the 3 of the current Sonic runs (don't mention Spinball anyone).

Mukki hands down wins this for me, I felt he put the most dedication into N64 TASing as a whole.

Don't get me wrong S3+K was great and is still my favourite run on the site, and probally could have creamed every catagory applicable to it in 2006, but the run was mostly the same with a few hexed improvements and there is still other known improvements which need to be implemented. Gunstars Heroes was something fresh and new and played so brillantly with lots of explosions and intensce music so thats where I'm sticking my vote.

I'm gonna vote for Super Mario Kart, it was something different and not just a straigtforward improvement to the existing run.

I'm gonna pick the run I worked on the '0 star run' I feel it captures what great TASing is mostly about.

I'd like to vote for Randil, while he's mostly sticked to slightly obscure NES games, I feel his movies are done with the tightest optimization compared to the other great TASers on the list.
