This run is kind of like the inverse of the Quad run, doesn't sound too interesting when reading about it, buts actually quite entertaining to watch, and it certainly offers a lot in relation to what the 16 and 120 star don't show. Still my feelings are mixed about it, the Bowser stages weren't paticuarly great to watch but some of the stars like the chukka glitch were, and the movies also a nice length as well , being just over an hour, so we can't accuse it of being same as any other run we've seen. I'll vote yes to this one as it felt like a breath of fresh air watching it, and it also removes some of the more boring stars seen in the 120 run and adds more interesting stars compared to what we don't see in the 16 star run.

No, I haven't worked on it at all. Hoe is collabariting with others on a Duke done quicker run which will show upto date routes and strategies, although the downside of the Duke done quick run is that is starts each level with no items gained from the previous levels. I generally think the response to the last one was too negative since it got rejected due to possible improvements, but I'm pretty sure thats not the real reason (wink, wink).

if the author is getting a lot of spam on a certain movie (like, super mario movies), he will disable the option to send messages. in fact, i think it should be disabled by default. this send comment option is important for not so famous games, because it's hard to get feedback for them.
That would take a bit of effort to implement, and it would destroy the whole point of having it in the first place. People wouldn't even bother using it if they know that there comments might be not get through to the main author however constructive/unconstructive.

If I wanted to leave comments I'd leave them on Google, YouTube or Archive.org, I'm really not in favour of this idea.

Impressive yes vote, I quite like how you builded up several smaller lakes in order to make a large one in the middle and ZOMG three rainbow bonuses.

There are 35 yes votes, and 5 no votes to the question "Did you like watching this movie?" (at this point). I think that should be considered when you say the movie is not worth publishing. Saying it shouldn't be published ignores that over 85% of the people liked watching the movie. Err... All I read here is that you do think it should be published, just like me, since I also agree it should be in the concept demo section... Like I said, I fully understand people voting no, but saying it shouldn't be published is something quite different.
The question may say, Did you like watching this movie? We all really know it means Should this movie be published? I generally try to place my vote inbetween these two questions? Had it not been for the existence of the X1+X2 run then this run would have been much more indecisive. Many other movies have recieved much more votes and been rejected, MK64 and SSB anyone?

I dont get the movement in this game. If the glove can be magically floating in the air while dribbling how come he has to jump around like a dweeb while walking? Can he fly or not?
Holding A will cause Glover to hold the ball in his palm and toss it in a sort projectile in a 360 degree range, it does not give Glover powers to fly since his speed is completely zeroed until he touches the ground.

SMB1 is quite good to watch espeacially with the two wall kicks, SMB2 completely destroys the experience for me at the moment I didn't like the continous wrapping without progression. SMB3 is OK apart from the annoying going backwards for no reason, which is unavoidable given that you have to do it in the other games, and I haven't watched the J run becuase I don't have the rom, and you also appear to different rom version for for SMB 2+3 which surprisingly didn't cause desyncs although it might at some point.

They may be impressive when compared to the WRs but I have serious doubts about how optimal the stuff really is, my guess is JKT is still learning the TASing process so he should improve fairly quickly over time.

We lost one Terminian hour (5-6 p.m.) from the SoDT, right? If so, we'll probably need to skip the SoDT and play the ISoT at the appropriate time, as AKA said, because even 2.5 Terminian hours may not be enough for the Goron race, the trip to Romani Ranch, and everything else in between.
IIRC one termina hour is 30 seconds, of course it isn't constant because it stops during texts, cutscenes and transitions. The IoST changes one termina hour to 1:30, and the SoDT fasts forwards twelve termina hours to either Mid-day or Mid-night.

I would definitly check to see how many termina hours it takes until you end up at the ranch, since playing the SoDT means you have 6 mins less in real time, so it might end up better to play the ISoT at a more appropiate time. Since if you don't play the SoDT you could end up waiting for quite a while at the ranch for the alien invasion.

I just hope this gets labeled as a "concept demo", as Baxter already knows I've already stated my opinion on these types of runs and this one certainly hasn't changed my mind as of yet, to avoid contriversy I won't formally state my vote. EDIT: Incase anyone is wondering I haven't voted.

Sonic 2+3 are actual published games, and certainly nowhere near the same as well, Sonic 1+2 are more simalar to each other gameplay wise, since Sonic 2 is a only slightly modified version of the original as it only removed the instant death spike bug and added a spindash. Sonic 3 is an entirely different and hugely redefined engine and layout of levels. SDW isn't even a real game (in terms of being actually published) its simply hexed parts of the game, the gameplay and how Mario relates to the game is exactly the same as SMW.

You would still need to find improvements elsewhere to make up for the time.
Maybe BLJ on the rotating platforms in Bowser 3 to gain speed and go straight through the windy section without being pushed back?
Implemented, but don't know if the setup requires more time than it saves
Its definitley worth testing whoever does an improvement, although I would hope for a better result than that, possibly being able to land in the pipe but its probally impossible.

Giving a hacked run a star would be contriversal, no matter how good the hack is.

If you really wanted to get the best result in DDD, you'd need set the camera to freecam, which would mean wasting actual ingame frames in the run, and then hold R in the first section where Mario swims vertically. Unfortunatley the great difficultly this would pose is that you wouldn't be able to see Mario, which would then mean having to deliberately let go or R every frame just to see what exactly happened, and given the exact nature of precision the swimming, it would be entirley beyond my patience and free time to get it frame perfect, all for no reward becuase people would complain that they couldn't see anything. Unless there was some kind of Mario cam hack, then doing it wouldn't be so hard.

There are only a few level where a death after the checkpoint results into respawning enemies, every pro uses this technique. Nobody calls it cheating.
That isn't any different that using checkpoint abuse in order to get a lower ingame time in Sonic 3, it decieves people into thinking it was all achived on a single playthrough when it was more of a stop start affair.

How come when I try to capture something in Mupen using x264 it just causes Mupen to crash and then to completely shutdown, it seems to work fine with other emulators.

So you are saying that a run that is ~6 seconds faster isnt worth publishing...?
It wouldn't be hard to implement the trick and post a six second improvement within 2 days, an improvement should look for other little optimizations throughout the game, I'm sure there is bound to be 2+ seconds worth of stuff outwith the log star.

I didn't know about the video until S@G posted it here, thinking it was a genuine sequence break. I probally would have taken a more relaxed point on view had I just stumbled across the video myself.

Get the first mushroom in 1-3 then get the leaf in the castle and fly up to the wall and walljump there? maybe get the first mushroom in 1-1? I dont know which is quicker. I assume both these tactics would be slower.
All the previous TASes did that, I would automatically assumed Genisto did enough testing to prove that using that method is slower.
