Definite yes vote, before I thought this would be quite boring to watch I was actually surprised it was more enojoyable to watch than the other two starred 2D counterparts, its just a shame they only have preference through being more popular and well known.

That does seem a little excessive in the first video, I think you're better off just using a Goron boost, since you don't want to waste precious bombchus and bombs, unless you plan on warping back to clock Town to buy more once you've hit the owl statue.

thank you comicalflop. I should have searched for videos first. For anyone sharing my confusion, here are some links: getting into the well without song of storms: using the aggro-cucko cutscene by jumping through walls by jumping through walls + cucko simple Playthrough of the well - note the usage of the lullaby to lower the water inside the well.
All the cucco links either seem to be slow, poorly executed or bad video quality. I'll rectify that Inside the well its best to follow water when playing the lullaby, of course with exception to a 100% run the lens will not be aquired.

But aren't the games just being played from the ISOs, although I've played CD based emulation games on my computer with the actual games themselves and there does seem to be a slight improvement in playing speed over using a downloaded ISO.

Me and SL did many various forms of testing on the penguin star and the one we used was the fastest. The dive on the penuin is a good deal slower as well.

Comicalflop, a slingshot+cancel does not cancel out that scene, it isn't much difference from preparing a ground jump or a superslide, all these only avoid ground activated scenes and text.

Can anyone explain precisely how that door glitch works and all the limitations of it, how much time does it actually save?

For the second stage wouldn't you be able to use a wall jump or double wall jump at the start to skip over the whole stage.

The additional fight is so long and boring that I don't think getting the emeralds are worth getting. BTW if the Saturn version got submitted would that be allowed to obselete the GENS version.

Actually, that goes for Nesvideos as a whole. AVI movies should be made when a run is submitted, so that people who don't wan tto download the ROMs or can't, can still be able to view runs. See also: N64, especially. (And PS1 when it's done...)
The only problem with that is many people including me don't know how to effectively dump a movie into an AVI file.

I decided to list the N64 games and GCN games I like. N64 Tier 1 (actually good games): Bangaioh, Rockman DASH (non-exclusive), Mischief Makers, Mario 64, Paper Mario, Pokemon de Panepon, Puyo Puyo Sun (non-exclusive), Star Fox 64, Smash Brothers. Tier 2 (good games in comparison): F-Zero X, Goemon 1 and 2, Goldeneye, Jet Force Gemini, Kirby 64, Zelda 5 & 5.5, Ogre Battle 64
That list is a bit messed up Bangaioh, Rockman DASH, Mischied Makers, Paper Mario, Pokemon de Panepon, Puyo puyo Sub are no way top tier game. F-zero X, Goldeneye, JFG are more qualified to be a top tier games. Anyway in terms of good Gamecube game in no paticular order Tww, Twighlight Princess, Viewtiful Joe 1+2, Pikmin 1+2, Metroid Prime 1+2, Prince of persia 1-3, F-Zero Gx, MKDD, Resident Evil, Resident Evil 4, Timesplters 2-3, Monkey ball 1+2, Soul Calibur 2, Smash Bros, animal crossing, Splinter Cell 1-3. They aren't neccesarily ideal for TASing or even strictly exclusives but you see my point.

would't spin dashing be better? I know the unassisted videos don't use it becuase much of it would require insane accuracy and luck.

The run is comparable to the Gex run, its an OK game as long as you don't directly compare it to SM64 or B+K. Personally the run was a bit unoptimized for my liking with a lot of it just relating to general accuracy, but its good enough for my yes vote.

how come there are only a few n64 speed runs on tasvideos.org? is it because they are hard to do speed runs? not uploaded? just wondering... there are so many i'd like to see, and maybe even try to make a speed run!
Ignoring all the posts except this brillantly constructed post. There are few N64 TASes at the moment becuase its a relatively new and unstable system. The games are quite a bit longer and more complex to make and many members are still intimidated by the prospect of doing a 3D game, simple eh.

The first level looked like it could be majorly walked over (the irony), all you need is a mushroom and then to remove a block in the ceiling and run forever until you reach the flagpole.

Acryte, could you possibly upload a vid so I can gain greater understanding of it all, thanks. I'm still not sure if I'm thinking along the right lines of how this works.

I couldn't accept a submission which states "more entertaining" given the nature of the game, you couldn't possibly make it more entertaining while not losing time.
