The current question is arbitrary. I prefer "Does this movie provide entertainment and achieve its goals satisfactorily?" because it takes into account how well a TAS accomplishes its goals (i.e. fastest time, % completion, score, etc) and how entertaining a movie is.
Movies that are not entertaining are inherently incongruent with the site's primary goal and therefore are not suitable for publication.
So if one does not enjoy a submitted movie or if one feels that a movie does not have any aesthetic appeal, voting "No" based on one of the aforementioned reasons is still just as valid of an option as it would be with the current poll.
However, optimization (in relation to fulfilling a movie's goals) in a submitted TAS should also be a key factor in the voting and judging processes, and the current question does not directly stress the element of optimization. This inevitably causes unwarranted arguments between peoples' differences of opinion.
The question "Does this movie provide entertainment and achieve its goals satisfactorily?" is a more thorough question that will assist members and judges in better assessing a submitted movie.

I know that concept demo movies are stigmatized, but perhaps this movie could be a concept demo since it has its own unique goal that sets it apart from the current any% run.
A slant on SM tases, if you will.
I know that some of the older SM movies aimed for fastest in-game time as well, but perhaps a finer distinction could be made.
I did enjoy the movie, but I do prefer the currently published any % since it aims for fastest absolute time.
Not voting.

Just go to the page for the currently published run and click on the "History of this Entry". From there, you can easily navigate to links of previous submission texts. :)

I'm glad you were able to save more time! I really didn't think the new movie would be improved on so fast.
I hope this isn't the last run of the game we see :)

Quoted from this page at gamefaqs http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/code/563391.html :
Once you access the final boss room, the game assumes that you already passed through all the obstacles in the previous rooms and leaves them clear.
That's my understanding anyhow.

Try to TAS another game that you enjoy, and/or play around with the emulator functions and get more familiar with them and make another OoT run if you so desire.
When I was first learning, I would try a simple game that I knew well on NES and attempt to match the current run on this site using frame advance and frame counts. You can always go back frame by frame on the currently published run along with your test run to see exactly where you lost/gained time. It should be easy to spot errors through juxtaposition.
Use this technique to check your work and find out where you may have made an error to lose time. It should help you make insights.
And moozooh brings up an excellent point: read the FAQ--it's a great resource.

Here's my input if anyone cares.
Remove
Remove one of the sonic movies. I dislike having so many similar runs on the list. Variety should be showcased in this section.
Remove a mario movie for the same reason I gave for the Sonic movies (need more variety). I know SMB3 is really popluar, but I honestly perfer the SMB and SMB2 (U) runs more because the SMB3 run has too many autoscrollers. I think the Yoshi Island run is good too, but it's just too long.
Replace 120 star Mario 64 with 1 star. It's shorter and contains more surprises.
Remove Zelda: A Link to the Past. It's long, and I think NES LoZ is the better of the two starred Zelda movies.
Movies that I'd like to see replace the ones listed above:
Bionic Commando: I never thought this should have lost its star. The game has exciting music, run and gun action, and the game sets itself apart from typical platformers with the hero's unique method of moving/jumping. This makes for a different TAS that is entertaining.
Dragon Warrior: We have no starred RPGs. The dragon warrior run is short and sweet. It has what every good RPG tas needs: luck manipulation used to complete a long game unbelievably fast. The game is exceptionally well known, and it's also short enough to not lose a new viewer's attention. I don't really expect people to agree with me on this suggestion, but I wanted to throw the idea out there.
Ninja Gaiden/Ghosts 'n Goblins: Well known and difficult platformers with fun music visuals and sound effects. I'm not sure if anyone agrees with me on these two games.
The other movies on the list are fine imo.
Anyone agree or disagree with some of these ideas?
