Wow, right off the hop I have an issue with this. I hit the tab key to temporarily speed up a video and it went to 6400% playback speed and would NOT move from there. If I loaded a new rom or whatever, the problem persists until I literally shut her down and start over again or I hit the = key... which is damned annoying since just holding down tab for a few seconds and releasing has the same effect. :( Mr. Kelly R. Thursday-Sunday, May 28-31 INTERNATIONAL CLASSIC VIDEO & PINBALL TOURNAMENT World-class players from around the world compete on the classics. Info: Gary, Director 603-393-7903 www.ClassicArcadeMuseum.org www.funspotnh.com Figured I'd do a quick plug as I've been trying to do earlier every year. Absolute spot on tournament, held in beautiful Weirs Beach, New Hampsire, that runs smooth and amazing every year and an absolute blast to attend. Definitely awesome to chill with a bunch of like minded gamers who are hooked on the classics and to be able to play a ton of the oldschool coin-ops you only tend to ever see in Mame and pinball titles you only tend to ever see in Pinball emulators. Every year Gary Vincent manages to continue to top himself with some new gem he pulls out of hiding that blows us away. A NOS Hit The Bear [Atari, 1975] for instance one year.. Frisky Tom popped up onto the floor and just recently as a few days ago, Atari's TX1 made its appearance. Lots of gems that will make you go back in time to the simpler times when games totally rocked the casbah... and your wallets, but without going totally broke. The entry fee for the tournament is usually $30 or so and nabs you a nice large cup of tokens and a nametag/badge for the tournament. Additional tokens can be bought as well for really good prices.. especially with the coupons circulating all around. [$20 for 175 tokens makes it just a shade over .11c a token! [And with newer games downstairs like Nascar Racing, .44c to play that compared to what most places would be charging...] Always an incredible mix of games in the tournament and a draw of people all around the world makes for a memorable event. The Funspot Classic Tournaments - World Records Poppin', Big Things Droppin'! Hope to see ya there [Haven't missed a tournament since my first in '05] [Want more info or curious for more, fire away ^^] [Also a good meet up event, as I can attest having had the pleasure of meeting Andrew Gardikis a few years ago and other many memorable folks.] Mr. Kelly R. o.o??? Wha...? Wow.. I had to watch the video several times to make sure I wasn't missing something. Considering the insane testing involved and the constant redoings, the technical is a given.. the entertainment is a 7 for me though. Weird ass game... Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

The weird thing I noticed about this, is that if you let the game keep playing after the disasters, it goes down to 28800, and stays there, even though there aren't any buildings with power or nearly any complete squares at all. Rarest gems in my collection? My Myriad 6-In-1 cart [that someone honestly tried to pay me $1100us for and I refused.. too sketchy sounding to be legit] and my Cheetahmen II boxed. [With shrinkwrap still on it] Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I'm sorry but... well I was bored by a 1/3 of the way through the movie, and even fast forwarding did nothing to help. It was extremely slow, clunky and unentertaining for an RPG... and with your mention of a SNES version, I wonder why you wouldn't have TAS'd that instead? The fact that at almost no point did I even have a clue of what was going on, and the fights were boring to watch as a result of having no clue of what was going on didn't help matters any. I can't comment on technical quality but entertainment wise I felt this was a bomb. I hold no ill for you going for something not terribly known to N.A. audiences, as I think that's always a good thing, but for me, this wasn't the best choice in the world. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I cancelled because I found huge improvement. Thanks,Ferret Warlord.
Considering how shoddily this game was compiled, I am not exactly totally surprised by this development. ^^; I wonder if an IPS patch would be permitted so the final levels of shame would be seen... I know I'd love to see it. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

That makes sense then. Thank you for so kindly letting me know about this, as I was unawares of that being the case. I will happily review this now. [And yeah, I own the game too, so at least I can say I know wtf is going on ^^;] Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Yes, I'd say that in a glitchless run you wouldn't be allowed to use the wolf kick to get to Olrox's Quarters.
that's some Twin Galaxies shit right there. i don't think even they would disallow the wolf kick.
While I don't like the way you dropped TG in there, I do follow where your going... but I can say with all due sincerity, you're dead on the money when you speculate about TG not banning the Wolf Kick. It's a perfectly acceptable tactic, just like with Metroid, how you can use a normal enemy/tactic to escape the need for a bridge to get to Norfair. You're simply being creative in the games intended parameters. But then I don't mean to continue on with this as it detracts from the original purpose of this thread, which is to discuss about this fantastic TAS. I may not agree with the use of the Luck code... but it works. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Well it was impressive... but then again.. it felt lacking... I mean a glitched run rocks and all... but this game had such awesome music and other events that... well yeah. For whomever encodes, I hope there's a way to AMP the music while leaving the sound effects low, at the very least. And of course... we all know what's going to happen next... "Can someone do a 200.6% run?" "Can someone do a Richter run?" "Is anyone going to try the Axelord?" "More Hot succubus action damnit!" ... er.. nm.. that's probably just me ^^;; Otherwise, a nice start to a hopefully long line of titles. :) Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I think there needs to be a new category. Best TAS'ing Team Then move all those "Co-Authored" runs to that category. Just a thought. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I nominate the TAS of Duke Nukem Forever. I mean it's been the hottest thing to TAS since Rockman and SMB, but despite the tantalizing screens we get handed once in a while, we never do see something complete. So Vaporware, it was Vaporware before Bisqwit even created the first site, but everyone still talks about it in secret! Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

It just cost me a few hours to finish the last few levels which had been left for very, very long: "Small World" run in 16:56.27! It seems that there's no love for this game in this community, so I'd upload it somewhere else. There can be a 9-frame improvement in Level 23, but I won't bother unless I change my mind.

May as well toss on an idea for the wishlist... something I definitely wanna see destroyed... [And hoping a repro cart can be made for] VS. Super Mario Bros. - No warp run [since warping won't get you too far] A reworked Super Mario Bros. for the Arcade, but there's a rom for it, and it's a good challenge. Some new levels here and there, retweaked coin boxes and locations of goodies. Definitely would be interesting. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I'm sorry man... but this absolutely bored me to tears. I can't think of a single impressive part of this, let alone one that screamed "TAS". Then again, I may have been spoiled from watching Kombo Videos where they pull 100% combos and serious glitches of amusement out of every possible character.... I mean THOSE were entertainment! This was... well.. like someone playing on a normal SNES that has a reasonable amount of talent. Sorry... that's just how it comes off. [And seriously, no fiery pit fatalities? wtf?] Mr. Kelly R. Rampage for Nes has no... total ending. You get a crappy end screen after Day 128.. and then some other things, and then it starts out on Day 1 again. How someone's going to honestly keep it entertaining for 128 LONG levels is beyond me. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Good run Saturn, don't let all the haters get you down. They would be praising this run if you had posted this with a different name.
Um no... they'd be blasting this run, different name or not. The fact Saturn released it under his own name just means people can state their thoughts direct, instead of inadvertently indirectly. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I have been waiting so long for this!!! This was just mindblowing! The only annoying thing was seeing the status of the Cleric and Thief/Ninja on the screen... but then I guess it'd waste pointless frames being redrawn after every battle. I knew this game would be a luck manip. beeyotch.. but DAMN! And beats the video on Nico too! 10/10 from me, and also as well because I know the game quite intimately myself.
