Well I thought it added entertainment to see him getting the odd hit.. kinda like a drunken fighting style, except a punch could go flying over his crouched form.. ^^;; And there's not many showy attacks that could be done... so could you elaborate so we'll know exactly what you mean? I had to honestly vote Meh for this time around... BUT Beofre I explain, I must honestly admit, it was ALMOST a yes due to the entertainment value alone! You honestly put effort into trying to mix things up, you did the pogo dance on 1 foot tactic... BACKWARDS... which made me laugh.. heck the fight in R.C.H. where Bart does a Left/Right freakout as he collapses was very funny! But... here's why it made Meh... 1. I do understand that Advanced makes enemies more likely to block, but for the most part, you DID work around that.. but there was too much blocking overall. A few is understandable if it would mean you get a hit in quicker then you would just doing something else to manipulate luck and get a hit without missing... but I think there was more chance to avoid blockng. 2. There was a minor pause and stutter in the Factory the first time around, and not due to how you land either.. and a bit of extra running around where the possibility of enemy manipulation may have saved a bit more time... it was hefty run outside of R.C.H. and I wonder if you couldn't have manipulated it so the enemy came closer to you and the gates where the boss fight took place. Ditto with the fight against Otis.. was there not a way to toss and fight closer to the doors as you went along? I mean granted you have to run all the way back, but in principle then, could the same not be done with Otis and some weapon throwing..? 3. The Randy and Andy fight... could you not have manipulated it so they didn't block as often? I know this falls under #1, but you had a VERY NICE Synchronization going on at one point and they actually looked as if one! To be able to kill them both simultaneously without a block would not only have saved a few seconds, but looked even cooler too! [Even though you chained them to death, it was entertaining during the synchro part] Other then that, I was honestly quite impressed with your run. It looks a helluva lot more solid then my first ever submission where I didn't even know about frame advance ^^;; I'd dare say with a bit of tweakng, and leaving as much of this entertanment in as possible, this could be done under 10m30s... maybe... MAYBE... 10 mins... the using death as a shortcut was a smart idea though :) Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

If I can remember correctly, you can skip that. If you run out of lives on the second to final level, the game will drop you into the final level with 0 lives after the "world blows up" movie. (even more WTF?! But that's why you could beat this game in 5 minutes :P)
O.O!!! No way...! That's... oh boy... time to try and figure out if it's true... because if so.. that's going to be something to fix on my end of things ^^;; But cool on this end of things. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

This was a very weird, short platformer I remember playing as a kid. Does anyone have any knowledge of this game? I know that a good speed run of this game would probably only be about 5 minutes long, and I'd like to see someone do one. If not, I'll go ahead and make it myself.
Yes... it's shite... pure and absolute... ^^;; Makes me wanna play Cheetahmen II more then anything really... there's also a weird quirk in the game where you have to let the credits go through all the way to get to the final level! I was thinking of starting with this game slightly. Haven't played it in a while so every good information about it is welcomed. I basicly know what to do in the game. But I don't know what I could skip if possible. It's a pretty linear game. Also it would be good to talk about level building etc and what setup of people to use. I've heard there's a glitch that allows Nei to stay in the party even after beating Nei first. If anyone could comfirm this it would be great.
Hmmm that's news to me.. I always thought that even if you managed to revive her [Thanks Shir!], she'll die at the end anyways because she's linked to NeiFirst. Believe me... these guys pioneered the cry for losing the best character of the game that you've grown very attatched to syndrome, later done by Square with FFVII and Aeris. Thiefing like mad with Shir MAY help your ceramic knife issue, but she does so completely at random and you'd have to go back to the house to get her. Mind you, the visiphone is an absolute must for normal gaming. She can also steal Moon Dew and Star Mist, biggies for ANY run. I'd recommend Anna with a nice pair of slicers/slashers/boomerangs for giving off some serious multiple enemy damage goodness. Amy is a must for healing and when you give her proper gear she can use as ITEMS, you've got a nice dose of magic there. Rudo is also great with spread style guns for inflicting massive damage. That's the party I beat the final boss with... after a few hours ^^;; Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I'm sorry but I'll have to be the first and vote No... this run was beyond boring, mainly because you kept releasing small parts and I've seen them all 100 times over and you never bothered to alter them into something better... you didn't abuse enough glitches... you didn't do the entire run small or anything entertaining like that, it's farrrr too long for an average person to watch, and only 7 minutes or so of improvement over the one touted on SDA? And you call this a TAS? You should be ashamed of yourself, hornswaddling all these pawns into it and hacking their accounts so you get 70 Yes votes... gawd I can't believe the depths of your depravity... ....... God I don't know how I'm still typing while laughing my ass off at that.. :) This was one of the most ENJOYABLE things I've honestly seen in a LONG time and it's inspired me to relearn the game with these new tactics.. including the flying spin jump, which I never knew possible. My vote was a Yes from the second I woke up this morning and voted ^^ Back when there were 4 replies to this thread :) Believe me, if this doesn't get a Star, I will be completely stunned... because there's no reason for it not to... this appears to be something that will go into the mythos of it all. Screw a faster Super Metroid time.. who cares when something of this caliber comes along. If there was to be a version 2, I'd be amazed if it could ever be improved by anymore then 30 seconds because this... this was.... unbelievable. I'm inspired for greatness ^_^ Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I must vote Mleh.. and it was almost a Yes.. I honestly was getting bored in the beginning.. but from Balrog on.. I was THOROUGHLY entertained.. I mean hell, with Balrog you throunced his ass but good! And the 8-Hit combos were impressive. I can't blame you for the rest being boring to me, but I can sure as hell blme the game. SSF2:Turbo is wayyyyy better for a combo filled time attack due to the insanely sickening combos you can pull off! [12 Hit Fei Long combos... or Chun-Li..!] but it has Supers. You did you best with what little you have to work with and I applaud you wholeheartedly for that... I honestly don't think a game like this is going to be good for a time attack... and as a play-around... there will always be people who're going to say it sucks... it rocks.. it could be better.. it's perfect... something of this nature... it won't please everyone, no matter how hard you try.. and that honestly sucks ass, if you ask me. BTW: Were there not time trial thingees when you play VS mode..? Why do I remember a match-up between Ken or Ryu vs Dhalsim and some time thingee pops up of 6'53 victory or something... Mr. Kelly R. As for the sliding-through-solid-bricks idea, it doesn't work. Pretty much, you can use the L\L+R trick to embedd yourself into a single block, but once you're all the way in it you're stuck. Well, you're stuck horizontally. If you can destroy the block beneath you then you can fall out of the wall. If Link's upper body isn't in a block (only the legs are) then you can jump out. But without those vertical options, you get to thrash around all you want.
Ahhhh alright, scratch that idea then ^^;; I figured it may not work, but if it did for some reason, all the better ^^ Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Alrighty feitclub, how many times does Necro have to say HE IS DOING A NO - HIT RUN. Seriously, It's his run, he can do whatever he wants. Everyone keeps complaining blah blah save time, blah my butt hurts. Necro's Run looks amazing considering it's his FIRST Run ever on any game. And on to end this post...EVERYONE INCLUDING feitclub, stop whining, as it is utterly useless, and rather annoying. Still mustn't grumble ADD ON : Why are people complaining about saving time...as far as i'm concerned a no hit run IS A PERFECT RUN, how can you improve on NOT getting hit?
[Sigh] I believe you should really have thought about what you were going to say before doing so. Feitclub ONLY mentioned the other run because TSA shows minimalist [save for Blue Mail? was it that?] to a tee! Due to that, it's a PERFECT tutorial to see exactly what you need and what you don't need as well as show ideas of better Rupee maximization techniques and such. Under no circumstances did he state in ANY of his posts.. "Your No-Hit is pointless, this is how it SHOULD be done" or indicate ANYTHING of that nature. He stated TSA's time in the first posting as that's what a time attacker should be aiming to get under... and the second time was to only reaffirm the video by TSA can aid in patterns, routes and all around general optimized ideas to work with... the very same reason Omni's run was also mentioned. As I read that, much like most people, it was trying to be supportive and encouraging and also offering honest and decent advice and information. Until you seemed to have misinterpreted that horrendously. Or does constructive criticism bother you like hits aesthetically bother Necro? If so... Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Yes its is faster, and yes in the zelda palace it is faster I shave out about 3 or 4 frame faster, and my run go well, I need to redo something from the start, buit I can do it.
Here's an idea.. you know how you can magically do the ceiling slide... if there was some really weird way you could elevator down lower then you should, like into the floor, maybe you could avoid downward thrust altogether by sliding through the floor and falling through the holes the bricks block? I doubt it could work, but you never know. Still waiting to hear if the wallglitch to the 2nd floor in the town for downward thrust works... I mean if it worked in the cave, should it not work there too? Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Most likely because .. "Hey! This is faster then the last one! I never knew this game could be done so fast! I'm so for this!" Pick any of the above as reasons for a lot of people. I'm glad some people who voted yes actually EXPLAINED why. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Yeah, Gigafrost is less than 2 seconds slower from the start of Palace 2 to getting to the glove (I think it was 107 frames), and he stops to fight, I believe, 4 monsters and he levels up once. But in blitzag's defense, the only reason Gigafrost was able to zip by the slimes so fast, was because he already had the downward thrust, so he could just use that to bounce over it. While I'm sure blitzag could get by them quicker, he won't be able to do it as fast as Gigafrost.
Hmm.. I honestly didn't notice the downthrusting till I watched again. I still wonder if the moonwalking could help get down those stairs though and the whole wall glitching to the 2nd floor for the downthrust... could work. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Well, I hate to say it but... I voted No... and I seriously would like to know why so many people voted yes... though Ziplock is quite vocal about his reasons and that's cool. Reasons for my choice? 1. Gigafrost's Palace 2 appears to be faster in several places, including going against the slime wanna be's... no pausing there.. nice fluid jumps... and the Moonwalking down the 3 hugeass steps to avoid the wall hit.. nice ^^ 2. Is it just me, or did Gigafrost go through a key required door in Palace one by doing a quick Left/Right move while speeding along... and am I wrong in thinking he went through those doors a touch faster? 3. The very obvious mention of Gigafrost's the trophy being done faster in Gigafrosts attempt... 4. Plenty of room to improve due to these little things. I wish there was a way that the jump spell could be avoided... can you not pull off a wall glitch like was done in the caves enroute to the swamps? If that's possible, it would save WAY more time. It's a nice improvement... and I'm glad Phil C reminded me to change Joystick 2's input ^^;; [Had it on Powerpad ^^;;] so I could view both... but with improvements still being able to be made.. as astonishing as that is... I think no for now... until the little tweaks are implemented. But with the next one, I get the feeling I will be hard pressed not to vote Yes... even if it's nearly impossible to follow half the video ^^;; And only then a yes, just because these gltches need documenting. Maybe someone could contact David Wonn about this? Offer FCM's and SMV's of all the glitches on his site in action, as well as all these new ones...? [Well glitches doable on an actual console] Just popped into my head as an idea.. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Actually, that technique IS allowed.. . Sleepz made fine use of a needed change when traversing a large pit area. He changed his weapon in mid air, which moved him over a bit. I haven't seen someone abuse this yet, save for that one part in Morimoto's run.. which is why I made the ban on going through walls via this, thanks to Bubbleman's Stage. That one part in Woodman's stage, of going through a wall is ignored though, since that one part doesn't affect anything. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Well I kinda figured that it'd take less then 12 hours for someone to come along a beat my time ^^ I do have one complaint though... look at where I ended my movie and look at where you ended yours.... you ended yours a few frames TOO early, as did the other TA. I mean sure it looks cool to see that Case Closed effect, but I always thought it was the second you lose control, and if you can technically bypass that with button presses... Otherwise, I am humbled by this ^^ It was interesting to note that on 4-1, I had a different array of enemies in my pathway by having a bunch of tag-a-longs then you who killed off a ton. Looks like the game TRIES to amp up the difficulty, but in this case, failed miserably. ^^ Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

The database is getting an extensive overhaul atm, but you are most accurate about the forums. The Nes field is heating up though and the database is completely up to date in that regard on my end of things. SDA is also a wonderful bet as well, as you mentioned. I'm hoping to submit some of my own records there as well, and soon I will be asking submitters if they want me to submit a copy of their records to SDA for publishing as well, until there's a more permanent solution. That would make his best run 21 seconds slower than mine. Not using the rapid slash would probably add 2-3 minutes onto the run. So unless i'm totally missing some sort of shortcut that skips a whole level, I dunno about his time... Getting lots of ninja magic to use jump n' slash wouldn't save any more time then getting the minimal amount required. Infact you have to slow down for ATLEAST a frame to pick the stuff up, and I doubt your friend can let go off all the buttons and press down+slash for exactly 1 frame without slowing down..if he could then he would have no trouble doing the rapid slash.
I must admit, for the moment, I completely concur with BoltR. Short of a Game Genie being used, unless there truly is something that we're all missing here...I'd like to see proof. The mention of sadly being out of practice.. it does come off sounding like a very poor excuse, in all honesty. [Note I said it comes of SOUNDING like... and I am not accusing him of USING that as an excuse.] Simply put... if he's doing something perfectly acceptable without a game genie and NOT using the rapid slash... that means that 11:40 would mean under 10 mins via time attacking it.
