I would vote no because this run fails to beat the game while the currently published run does. Although this one run uses the "original" version, that one was never released, and given that there's now an official version that is beatable, I don't see the point of using the old ROM.
This "original" version WAS released. It also runs an easy $500-700+ The "Official" version done via Kickstarter was literally a patched version that allowed all the levels and the final boss to be beaten, but far from being an official release.. or at least in the context that collectors would classify as official. I'd test this on my cart, but my cart has been packed away and not easy to get at. Due to its rarity, this was done on purpose. If I dig it out, I am happy to poke around. I do know that a NES booted from an absolute cold state does have a difference over it being run for a while, as noted from watching Feasel live stream FF1 attempts to get TAS monster charts. Absolutely amazing! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what was happening [But the description definitely helped!]. Too bad this glitch doesn't work on the NA version. Definitely voted Yes though! Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Well, whilst watching Zombietraine [ www.twitch.tv/zombietraine ] practice on CV2 while doing books in my office, ZT has now developed a new tactic that will save a fair chunk of time off a run. It involves proper placement of a Holy Water versus Death. Get it in the right spot on what appears to be the correct frame ]and ground like level], and it can freaking 1 hit kill him! He was starting to get continuously better and better as he kept grinding the fight. He is speculating the potential of this being possible on Dracula as well, due to how Dracula hovers around above and below ground. Could be something to look into more detail for a future TAS. Say what?! That was so... wtf?! I enjoyed it for the sheer bafflement... but would love to know more on how it's achieved. Yes vote for it being entertaining! Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Thanks for choosing to submit. Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, this does not meet the stringent requirements set out by this site for submissions. But that's not a bad thing. I see potential laying underneath this. I see someone who is eager to give it a shot and wants to ultimately entertain and amaze. Please take this not as rejection, but take it as merely a stepping stone. TAS's can take a long time to ever reach the heights required, but if you're willing to be patient, to read all you can and soak it in and learn... you definitely will be able to find that game to which you will connect with and trip the lights fantastic. Please don't give up. Many who have found success have found numerous failures before that. They just never gave up, and that makes the difference. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

But wouldn't that be sort of....out of place? I mean, for the majority of the run, it's focused on being as fast as possible.
There have been other comedic moments in the run, this is just another one.. also adds and goes along to the "WTF?!?" motif. Of course it's not our choice to make and I am fine which ever way it goes. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Well, how much health does the last boss have in the TAS? Maybe a broken butterfly may work.
3 shots from the Broken Butterfly, then a RL will kill him. I redid it and managed a 1:35:14, for an improvement of 9 seconds. I am currently encoding the video, and will have it up in the next day or so.
Alright, so I realized I didn't have to be a moron and could look on YT for a video... so yeah. Before you get onto the Jet Ski, you activate the Ditman glitch and then hop on. Leon will then zoom forward on an invisible jet ski for a few seconds. It will zap 1-2 seconds of your savings, but the trade off is too priceless to ignore! Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I know there's a glitch where you can make the jet ski fly off with Leon just sitting there in thin air... other then that, the only thing missing is hacking into the video, Slippy from Star Fox in a window at the bottom and him telling you to do a Barrel Roll before you do them. THAT would be priceless! Otherwise, this is awesome! Can't wait for the comment filled run to be published!! Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

SoulCal, this was AMAZING! I hope you have 2 versions of the video when you're done... one with all this amazing commentary and more and one without. I say 2, because God knows someone is going to be a nitpicky asshole and complain... unless it's easy to disable in video comments or enable them. I am SO PUMPED to see the final product! You've done an absolutely AMAZING job on this!! Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Nach, Mothryas, Adelikat, Thank you for finally making this firm decision. I only wish it had been done sooner... but it's done now and that's what matters. Now will come the seemingly endless bitchfest about the decision... I am glad one was made. It had to be made. Progress can not continue in the right direction otherwise. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Double standard of TASVideos.
I somewhat agree with you however at least Tompa used Snes9x v 1.51. But yes, tasvideos needs to be harder and/or clearer when it comes to using snes9x.
If by harder/clearer you point out the post that was made last year that CLEARLY defined SNES9X was done as of NYE of 2012 unless you were on the continuance list Wiki: , and that this is not published to show that it was seriously meant to be enforced and not to let people get away with it just because they may never submit again, were ignorant or because they come up with some other excuse... then yes. Otherwise...

Wow!! LONGEST TAS EVER! Over 4700hrs and it's not even Desert Bus! Yet you still compact it all into an awesome TAS! Definitely a wonderful improvement. But could you explain the zipping glitch in more detail for those of us who are having trouble understanding the seemingly random movement on the map? Like it looks like you have control along the way, but not really... Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

SoulCal, this keeps getting better and better! I hope your run has a lot more of this excellent commentary as it's making this beyond awesome! Could you, though, kindly make a comment about shooting the 3 wooden blocks in the tower? It happens so fast, newer viewers to the game may be left wondering exactly why you did what you did as it's very fast and easy to miss what you're hitting. Awesome 4-1 improvement! I so can't wait till you complete this as every chapter keeps getting better and better! Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

George has now BEATEN the WR with over 35 million and is currently at over 79hrs straight on one credit! Ed is going strong at 58 hrs on his quest for over 100 hrs! Considering the trippy ass colors, odd controls and slow scoring pace... believe me, this is nothing short of absolutely amazing! Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

http://patrickscottpatterson.com/BertOff Watch George Leutz & Ed Heemskerk play simultaneously for the world to see! George is in it to win it with hopefully a new WR while Ed is aiming to prove he truly is the Iron Man and go 100 hrs on one full credit! @Soulcal The one rifle battle at the end.. is there not a more efficient/luck based way to kill them off with Grenades or is this a luck manipulaion tactic for the $15,000 drops they both yielded? Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

From the SNES Thread: You will rarely ever hear me say this... but this hack was interesting and entertaining enough to keep me till the end. There were some moments it appeared even a normal player could potentially complete a level. And the concepts were definitely something that stuck out as well. Even with Yoshi exits... this was incredibly well done. The glitches were really intriguing as well. I mean the boss rush would have been great too, but the run works as it does and the Bowser fight is so oldschool! I don't mind a lot of the puzzle aspect.. it is what this is setup for and a small length hack. If this was as long as a 100% run then yeah, it'd be tiresome. This was a Yes vote from me. Not as awesome as Super Demo World, but way the hell better then the rest in this series. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

And flewin, there wasn't much to really comment on, and I was being lazy and didn't put any in. :p I'll do it again next time.
No worries. I just hope you will have comments all over this run when you're done. Believe me, not only are they incredibly informative [which for a run of this caliber makes it 100x better] but they are entertaining as well. I've learned a lot from the TAS thanks to those comments! Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Bringing this back up after watching PJ stream this on Hard for the last few hours. There was an instance where he managed to go through a floor that should be IMPOSSIBLE to go through in Death Field [well as much as we'd expect to be impossible]... so it got me wondering.. if there was something at fault for that... Could this have occured as a glitch due to too much lag on the screen.. or could such a well programmed game have flaws not thought possible. If it IS possible, I REALLY want to know if it's possible to glitch through the slow moving platform in Modero after the miniboss. Being able to plummet through that and avoid that huge wait would totally rip the shit out of this game! Anyone more savvy then I willing to take a look into this? Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I finished the main hall area. I got 35,400 pesetas here, 2 hand grenades, a flash grenade, and a first aid spray (I can sell that for 5000). I may redo the end to do a rifle reload, and change which type of grenade I need next.
If you need to do an upgrade of the rifle, no ammo reload will be needed. Selling the spray may be a good idea... but is there anywhere you can think of where taking damage might be needed and hence the fas without delay [ie. You got it while waiting anyway] would be a more viable option? This becomes more and more solid with every video!! I am so excited to see how this is going to look finished. The insane headshots alone are riveting! Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I am probably going to be one of the most hated for my vote... but I voted Meh. I was really REALLY looking forward to this run... the most anticipated in recent memory tbh. Unfortunately the longer this run went on.. the less and less entertained I became. Don't get me wrong, this was an absolutely phenomenal working and had moments of genuine jaw-droppedness... but what killed the entertainment for me? Too many Yoshi Wing stage exits. I mean it got REALLY bad, to the point that when I saw it being executed, I kept fast forwarding to the end of the level every time. It made the few genuine, it was there so we used it, moments just as painful. [Like in World 7] I know how difficult it is to setup on some levels and I know how much faster it is... but I felt it was TOO abused. Unfortunately that is the downside to certain games. The more broken they are, the more... overabused the glitching, to the point it loses its awe and wonder. Rockman was so short it wasn't as painful... but it was starting to get towards there. Thankfully not enough levels to do that. That overuse is the only reason I had to vote as I did... the rest of it.. especially the technical aspect... that was spot on Yes. Mr. Kelly R. Flewin
