lolz, good luck TASing 100% OoT ;) that'll be a 4,5 hours run. given the fact, how hard and annoying it is to TAS MM/OoT, such a run will never be done. I'm TASing MM for half a year now and I've done 35 minutes of the TAS yet. swordless, bloob and AKA spend half a year TASing a 20 minutes of the OoT any% run. that means a 100% would probably requier a nice amount of 3 years to make. and as comicalflop already said without a modified mupen, there'll never be a 100% TAS any way ;)

I've discovered a new technique, that has a lot of potential to be really useful in future TASes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5KspxkFPNU It's a new way to slide with the full speed of 18 (27), which is the same as supersliding. This trick has a few advantages over supersliding but also a lot disadvantages. advantages: - Only requieres a source of damage to set up (everything works: bombs, chus, enemies etc.) - doesn't need a grabable item, so it saves a bomb at some places, where you actually wanted to do a superslide with a bomb and an enemy - allows you to do "superslide" at places, where we haven't been able to superslide before. As we get bombs pretty lately in the any% and all temple runs, there are a few places, where this trick saves a lot of time like the haunted wasteland on the way to the spirit temple as child linl - you have the ability to change your angle while sliding disadvantages: - you have to roll a good amount of frames later into the source of damage than you would do when you wanted to superslide, so you get the speed more lately - whenever you turn around a bit you loose a well amount of speed. you start with superslide speed, which is 18 and every turn makes you loose a speed of 2. as the infinite superslide after supersliding has speed 10, the infinite superslide is quicker after 5 times turning around - you are only able to change your angle a bit to either left or right while only loosing a speed of 2, so you're really limited at turning around - makes an annoying sound while doing it (as we aim for time, this shouldn't actually be listed as a disadvantage) this trick will help at a few places in the child section of the any% run and also in the beginning of the all temples run. here is, how it works: - roll into a source of damage like you would do when you want to mega flip - hold forward at the end of the roll - search for the first frame you can let go of the shield button, so link still blocks the damage - let go of Z and R at the same time and press Z 3 frames afterwards - now keep pressing Z every 3rd frame to keep the speed - Z targetting an enemy cancels the slide, so doing this with targetable enemies turns out to be really hard. I actually haven't been able to do this with enemies like leevers yet to make this technique really useful, we have to figure out 2 things: - changing the angle by more than just 20 degree without loosing much speed - not cancelling the slide when z-targetting enemies wow, way too much stuff, I've just written. I hope you understand everything I wrote and will help me to make this new technique even more useful ;)

watched it yesterday just beautiful to see ;) all the crazieness especially in the end of the run. swordless, I gave your TAS a 10 for technical quality, of course. this game is ridicolus hard to optimize, but I couldn't even notice one place, that didn't seem 100% optimized. 240k rerecords also say everything about the technical quality ;)

ok, I am not joking at all but I can save like 30-40 seconds of that test. there's so much I could do in a TAS, so it probably is even more than that. discussion wheter owl or river is quickest is pointless. it is always river, no matter what! river also gives you 26 rupees you can use to buy the hylian shield. I might do a pretty optimized TAS of every route soon, if I feel like doing so

just want to let you know, that I'm re-doing a huge part of the TAS. I re-started from the first time I visit terminia field as normal link. I discovered some significant improvements and I can also optimize everything a bit better (became way better since then). those improvements mainly come from a new fairy fountain wrong warp strategy, that gives me 4 extra explosives, which I can use to add a few crazy little time saving tricks, I've discovered. I'm at mikau again now and I'm 12 seconds ahead already. as most improvements are done at GB, I won't save as much time in all the other places, but I'm probably able to save a few frames everywhere by optimizing and I'll also try to entertain as much as possible. the problem is, that hexing stuff in is nearly impossible for MM. it just desynches way too easily. that means I have to re-do everything now, but as I know, how to clear most sections perfectly now, progress should be much better ;)

I work on the run daily, but progress is pretty slow, because I'm a really slow TASer I always need years to TAS stuff, although I have no big rerecord count since then I finished pirate's fortress. that's all next is pinnacle rock, then GBT, snowhead temple, stone tower, majora's mask

ok, while this movie is really funny and well played, it is no star material and not the best TAS of the years 2009 and 2010 ;) however, I give the TAS a 10 for entertainment and 7 for tech quality

Mäh. Can't we just accept the silver scale route as the fastest and move on already?

- Get 6 Rupees on the way to Lost Woods
Why only 6? If you hop across the 3 water platforms again you get 5 more rupees and it should be quicker than slashing bushes later on. Also I think the 5r in the shop are worth considering.
- Get 40 Rupees from bridge
You could also play the zora diving game a second time and get a orange rupee while diving through the warp to lake hylia. The orange rupee maxes out your wallet and it might be faster than going up and jumping down the drawbridge (especially should you still be in a water-hiss or water-iss). Just a thought... the diving game takes years to do and you'd have to climb the ladder in the end. that you are in a HISS or water jumpslash ESS makes the bridge just even faster, because you can slide up the bridge ;)

- Mega Flip off Skull Kid into Water to get Water HISS
That's not Skull Kid. :p
the 5 rupees in the shop take longer than slashing 2 more bushes. worth considering is getting 2x blue rupee and 2x green rupee on the way to the lost woods. then you have 12, which is 4 bushes. the diving game takes years to do and you'd have to climb the ladder in the end. that you are in a HISS or water jumpslash ESS makes the bridge just even faster, because you can slide up the bridge ;) oh and how are those night guys called again? :/

good question there are 3 routes, that all have a chance to be the quickest one. I'll list the 2 routes, that are most likely quickest. Silver Scale Route: - Normal Rupee Route + Slash 2 more bushes - Buy Shield and Stick (6 Rupees) - Get 6 Rupees on the way to Lost Woods - Forest Escape + Owl Skip - Peahat Superslide + Water HISSes to Zora's River - Get 18 Rupees from Bushes (30 Rupees) - Boulder Skip - Buy Magic Bean and clear Zora's River with Cucco - Silver Scale (25 Rupees) - Dive to Lake Hylia and Get Ruto's Letter - Plant Bean and go back to Zora's Domain - Show KZ letter and leave ZD to Zora's River - Get 15 Rupees from the water while swimming down river Let's hope it's still night and like 10 seconds before it gets day: - Mega Flip off Skull Kid into Water to get Water HISS - HISS to Market - Get 40 Rupees from bridge - Buy Hylian Shield - DoT Skip Gold Scale Route: - Normal Rupee Route and Slash 2 more Bushes - Stick and Shield (6 Rupees) - Get 6 Rupees on the way to Lost Woods - Forest Escape and Owl Skip - Peahat Superslide to Zora's River - Get 18 Rupees from Bushes - Boulder Skip and buy Magic Bean (20 Rupees) - Leave Zora's River - Water Jumpslash ESS to Peahat - Peahat Superslide to Lake Hylia - Go Fishing and get Golden Scale - Make way to Magic Bean thing and get 18 Rupees on the way (18 Rupees) - Get Ruto's Letter and dive to Zora's Domain - Show Letter to KZ and Leave Zora's Domain - Get 22 Rupees while swimming down River - Water Jumpslash ESS to Market - Get 40 Rupees from Bridge - Buy Hylian Shield - Dot Skip

Why should the Giant's Knife count at all? Its whole purpose is basically a trick played on people who aren't aware of Biggoron's sword.
item is item ;) oh and it's way more likely to see giant's knife in a low% than biggorons sword, because giant's knife allows you to clip past the DoT as adult again, when you did DoT skip as child. actually, the ruling is really easy to understand. we created a non-TAS route a while back already. I think, I'll post it here soon. all I can say about it is, that it's a really entertaining route, especially in the child section, becazse it's filled with sick tricks most of you guys have never even seen before ;) on the entertaining side the any% run is a joke compared to the low% run.

Zoras river is way faster. Didn't you read Grunzes post?
I didn't say this. compared to going through hyrule field, it is indeed quicker to go through the river, but if you want to go the pond, it is probably quicker to go through hyrule field, because of those reasons: - going through hyrule field skips the ZD intro cutscene - going from ZD to lake hylia without the scale requieres this trick, that takes about 20-25 seconds to do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_EouEjuj6E - swimming from the lake hylia warp to the pond is probably a bit quicker than going from the entrance of lake hylia to the pond, but that shouldn't make going up the river quicker this is again one of those things, that have to be timed, because it is really close

It should be even more than 58 seconds because you are already at the bean guy and it takes some time leaving ZR anyway (unless you've already factored that in).
you'd probably go to the bean guy at first and then to kakariko, because you can do the water ESS, when you come from kakariko so if you consider, how long it takes from the bean guy to kakariko, you'll actually notice, that only the gold or silver scale route can be quicker and that coccu bottle is pretty much out of the race ;)

it took bloob 40 seconds to get from the magic bean guy to ZD substract 5 seconds of it, because I know, how to save a good amount of time of it so it takes 35 seconds to get up zora's river for comparison: it takes 55 seconds to cross hyrule field. you have to add some time to this, because we wouldn't be able to peahat superslide, because it'd be night already ;) so it 35 seconds against 58 seconds! so you can't say "it's a long trip", because it is no long trip :P

it actually is not ;) the problem is, that there's no known way to manipulate memory addresses apart from the MM bottle adventure, but the MM bottle adventure affects other stuff

yeah I know mukki also used the old mupen, that had way more desynches, which makes it a good bit harder to TAS this game, so I totally respect mukki and his work, because the game was pretty unTASable these days another reason, why it looks a bit slow in some places is, that quick backwalk after angle changing wasn't discovered yet and without it, it looks pretty slow

Fullfilling, entertaining, fast paced and with lots of surprises, this run is by far the best i have seen, i agree with all the others that say that. Congratulations on making the most entertaining TAS on this site.
hmm, you know, that this TAS is 2 years old and is not that good at all for today standards?

I don't know, if you guys have noticed it yet, but 99% of the new tricks shown in that run were discovered here and not on SDA, so we obviously know all the new tricks, because we discovered them I'm currently doing a new TAS, that aims to sub 1 hour and 30 minutes
