My Ninjaedit wasn't fast enough, it seems. In fact I can only think of one (the other ones, I have to confess, had slight problems): You get the hookshot as a child. That way you don't have to go back all the way through Kakariko as an adult. Getting into dampes grave as a kid can be done in ~3 chus.
I'm not really up to date. How are we able to get there using such a low number of chus? I thought you'd need at least 7-8. Oh and btw, No doors FTW :D

Is the rupee route in that TAS optimal? I've never seen anybody manipulate the rupees from the rocks like that. EDIT: I've noticed some things in that TAS that's somewhat unoptimal (although i'm still not sure about the rupee route). But i've also seen some parts that look different from current TASes on this website. Maybe we could reach out to the Japanese community. I think they might know some things we don't (and vice versa)
The TASes on this site are a rather bad reference. None of them include the most recent tricks, because it takes very long to create an optimized run. From what I've seen abeshi's run uses the same route as the console runners do, so trick and route wise there is nothing really new. I'm not sure if buying the shield is faster, but it might be ;)

QFT, dude is a beast. Literally dissecting the game code every day. On that note, a new record of 28 people submitted for the second competition task. Here's a compilation of the top 7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su6USmGK2fM Can we hit 30 for task 3? Would be amazing and some great proof that this timeless game is by no means, *dead*. ;)
Maybe this is a stupid idea, but I think it'd be interesting to see all of the submitted runs. I'd really like to see them all. Would it be possible to do a quick 2nd compilation each time, in which you simply put all the runs without any video editing, so you don't have too much extra work? Edit: Nevermind, saw you included the zip-file for anyone, who wants to see the rest of the runs.

Yeah I can't see why anyone could be convinced, that we would use Mupen. Nobody of us has ever said anything like that ;)

I think nuts will allow for massiv improvements for the cuccos. You can hit many cuccos from the distance at the same time, which should speed everything up a lot. It will be really tough to optimize, but the final product will be ridiculously fast I'm sure. I'm actually convinced that Cuccos with Nuts is so much faster than Cuccos without Nuts, that even before the new 2-3-1 Skip was discovered, the Bombchu route had a good chance of being quicker just thanks to the fact that you have Nuts to speed up the gathering a lot. The Bombchu route is approximated to be quicker by 20-25 seconds than the Swordless route. The Swordless route was 10-14 seconds faster than the old route, so alltogether I guess we will save at least 30 seconds over the old run ;)

So when's the TAS starting? so hyped for it :D
Yeah me too! We should work on this in a team like we did for the 100% TAS. You should start the run as soon as possible and get this amazing shit finally going! I will definitely join as well after I've finished all of my exams in 2 weeks. Good luck with the rupee manipulation, I'll pray to god that you get it done before I join so I don't have to bother with it ;P

Slowi made a fair point on youtube that my idea is pretty pointless anyway, because we can't leave the boss room after beating Gohma. I think your clip looks way more promising than mine, G&S. So the problem was you just couldn't do the clip? I can't see any reason why the clip shouldn't be possible using a mega flip from the spider :/ Would be still cool to pull this off, maybe it has some future uses. Seeing how my idea can't work anyway, I'm sure chus are faster now for any%. I think we can get ourselves prepared for a new amazing any% TAS now.

I had an idea to do the new 2-3-1 Skip without explosives: Link to video Sadly there is a wall blocking your way directly in front of the vines, so I can't do the Mega Flip from a higher spot. I have no idea if there is any realistic chance to clip Out of Bounds from this spot, but I thought sharing this with you might be a good idea. Would be cool if someone else would try this as well.

Just wondering what's the rupee route? I thought of getting 18 from the rocks‚ 15 from three blue rupees and 2 from the bushes close to the rock circles‚ but maybe throwing 2 more rocks is faster than getting the blue rupee behind the house?
I'm pretty sure the blue rupee behind the house is slower than throwing 2 extra rocks. So it'd be throwing 8 rocks for 24 rupees, 1 from grass pit, 5 from the platforms and 5 from the shop.

I TASed getting the shield and it is definitely faster. It takes 25 seconds to get it and allows us to skip obtaining any rupees at all after leaving the forest and going to the shop a second time: Link to video I guess everything left we have to test is doing Ganondoor using chus. If it works, we are good to go with getting chus and the new any% will be totally amazing. I hope we can make this a big co-op TAS to create an insane run in a rather short amount of time. Whether we get the 3rd stick from the Well or Deku Tree can be tested while we are already working on the run, no need to hurry for this. The route is clear even without that.

Afaik, yeah but there could be a possibility that you can clip there with another method, I wouldn't know anything else besides Blank A that can clip there. For the record, clipping there with Blank A isn't as simple as clipping through the wall in kokiri forest, you can get it so often for some reason.
Would you mind doing a video of this clip while the room is loaded?

IIRC, bombchus can blow up stones faster than you can throw them.
This part is done before getting the chus.

I did some rough timing and I'm pretty sure, that for the non-bombchu route it is quicker to replace 9 rupees from the river with rupees from the stone circle. We are very close to it while going to Lost Woods anyway and some rupees in the river cost quite a few times to get. Now let's get a real comparison between the 2 routes done (most of those could actually be 1-2 seconds off) in detail. This should be all time losses, if I'm not totally mistaken.
    - Getting 24 rupees (the missing 11 will be collected on the way and inside of the shop) from stones: +16 seconds - Slower Nut Tex while buying it: +3 seconds - Getting bombchus: +60 seconds
Time Gains:
    - Not going to the Stone circle after Shop Trip 1: -6 seconds - Deku Tree CS Skip: -30 seconds - Not killing Deku Baba for Nuts in the tree: -3 seconds - Not Killing Deku Baba for Stick in the tree: -3 seconds - 2-3-1 Skip: -2 seconds - Not luring Gohma around: -11 seconds - No Re-entering of Gohma Room: -9 seconds - No Walk to the Blue Warp from the door: -3 seconds
Alltogether this makes an approximated time loss of 79 seconds compared to a gain of 67 seconds. Add in another 2-3 seconds of saved time thanks to playing around with chus and we are at those 10 extra seconds we have to save somewhere. Of course only Deku Tree leaves space for such an improvement, liked I said earlier already. The list probably looks quite confusing, maybe it only makes sense in my head. Feel free to ask question or point out mistakes you realized ;)

Hmm, sounds like even if it worked, it wouldn't save any time sadly :/

Only benefit would be that you could get the shield from botw and never visit the shop again. In case you haven't seen that yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDowoIkXRQU
This actually looks like it could save 2-3 seconds. I have to TAS this to see how quick it really is.

You can fall like 45 degrees to the left or right from the vines after clipping. I edited my post, you should read it. What I'm talking about in my post above is that you have to be careful what really costs time. To me it seems like only getting the 15 rupees by throwing 5 extra stones should cost extra time.

Is the Blank A trick even possible without the stick? I always thought link had to have an item in his hands, that he tries to put away before entering the crawl space. As the bottle is filled with bugs, only item we can use is the stick, so you need 2 sticks before leaving Kokiri anyway. This is no problem at all. We have to go to the stone circle to get rupees anyway and throwing 3 more rocks barely costs any time. I can even imagine this to be faster, because we don't want to enter the water in the beginning of the river like the console runners do, because that is pretty slow. Getting the extra rupees from the stones instead of the top part of the river should be faster anyway. We don't lose the extra Stick we buy in the beginning in case anyone forgot ;) I'm not 100% sure about this, but I'll throw it out anyway. Getting those 60 rupees after leaving the forest requires (like I said above) entering the water in the top part of the river. Entering the water to get the rupees could cost so much time that going to the stone circle either before or after leaving the forest (after leaving the forest = right before buying the Shield) could be faster. So collecting those 15 extra rupees for the nuts and some slight exra travel time to the stone circle would be the only extra time lose compared to the normal swordless route. Make this a cost of around 6 seconds. Alltogether we'd have to save around 66-67 seconds using the chus to make this faster. The Deku Tree CS Skip should be a time save of 30 seconds, so we need 36 more. I guess with the current trick set, the new route is probably still 6-7 seconds slower. All we need is like one more new trick, that saves like 10 seconds and we sre good to go with getting the chus. The place to find that trick can only be Deku Tree, all the other places don't allow for any real time saving tricks using chus. Good luck to anybody who tries to break the tree further ;)

So does this means that we get to see this freaking awesome trick in a RTA runs maybe? Also (this is for MrGrunz) how do you change your side hop angles so fast man? Please help me out Grunz. (Not gonna use your name for the sake of privateness) (Also we can talk on bookface instead if you want) If anyone else can explain please do so d:D (that's my grunz smilie)
If you want to change your angle after a sidehop, you have to let go of Z the same frame you press A to do the last sidehop before changing your angle. This allows you to turn 3 frames faster after landing and thus saves 3 frames for each angle change ;)

Nice, this should save another few seconds. I did a test TAS of getting chus using Blank A. Sadly it takes even longer than I thought. It takes almost exactly one minute (the video doesn't contain leaving the well). If you add in the time we need to get the nuts from the shop, we have to save something like 1:10 using the chus. Skipping the Deku Tree CS saves around 30 seconds, so we'd have to save another 40 somewhere. Pretty unlikely if you ask me :/ Link to video

Great stuff! I can't see any reason why this shouldn't work with chus. From the old testings I did while doing this part for the current any% run, it seems like all you need to clip through the wall is some damage source that hits you in the air (at the perfect frame) after doing the hover. The more interesting question is, if this works in combination with Ganondoor. I will try to find the time to test this myself as well within the next days. Even if this works, I doubt getting chus will be faster. It will be pretty close, though. I have some real hopes, that we can make this faster with enough testing. First of all it is important to know how much time it costs exactly to get the bombchus. I think the old strategy of resetting after obtaining the chus can possibly be improved. There are 3 possible ways to leave BoTW without restting, but only one seems to have some real potential: - Voiding out is the fastest way I can imagine. Vine clipping will probably just make us end up in the unloaded room below, so this will probably not work, but maybe there is some other way. - Going outside normally is with certainty slower due to having to climb both the ladder and vines and also having to crawl through the crawlspace. - Dying is also a possible way, but sadly not as fast as I thought it is. I just checked and it is around one second faster than resetting if you could die instantly. This is almost impossible to be faster. Other than that, there aren't that many places where we can save time using bombchus due to how optimized the route is already nowadays. Even if we found some new way to skip the 2-3-1 room it wouldn't save that much time. One last thing we have to work on is to find the quickest way to obtain Deku Nuts for Blank A trick. If we buy them in the shop, where do we get 15 extra rupees from? Probably from the rocks, but this sounds like it takes years to do. There is no real alternative to that, is there?

You can do Gohma Clip using Chus? Is there a video of this? And can you do Ganondoor without leaving the room using this? This would be awesome, because it would also allow us to use the 2-3-1 Skip. I doubt this will be faster considering that getting Deku Nuts also costs some time. Hope dies last, though. So did anyone do some real test TASes yet to see how much time obtaining the chus and getting the nuts really take?

I have no idea if it is possible to console verify this run, but damn! I think this game is really well suited for live presentation. It is short and the speed is totally ridiculous. I wonder why nobody bothered to pay any attention to this thread :/
