While doing my Stone Tower Climbing TAS I noticed, that sideways mega flips reach the same distance as normal ones, so instead of hovering in a diagonal line, we simply use sideways mega flips. this can save some explosive at certain hovers. with this I was finally able to do stone tower boss key skip with 9 explosives: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPDtEjZ80ho&feature=channel_page

Ncice one. But at the end of the GBT key skip Link falls straight down for quite some time. Are you sure you can't reduce the explosives a little by taking out a megaflip (and if needed replace it with a normal flip)?
there's invisible water all around this area, so I have to use that many hovers not to fall into it ;) that is also the reason, why the old version of the GBT skip used so many hovers. without the invisible water, we could do the new version probably with only one mega flip ;)

my math thing I did for stone tower boss key skip was correct. by optimizing the mega hovers to reach its maximal distance a single bomb/bombchu hover can be used instead of a mega flip, what makes this possible with 10 explosives now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDuZ2YP4Jaw Here's also an optimized GBT boss key skip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9u2TDIXFNY4&feature=channel_page 8 explosives :D

right at the end, couldnt you super slide from mega/super flip to speed into the loading zone? sorry if its already been mentioned, or theres a reason for it, im a n00b
nope, ESS doesn't work here for some reason. you have to be completely out of Z-targetting mode while backflipping in order to do a ESS after mega flip link seemed to be out of Z-targetting mode in my stone tower climbing video, but he wasn't. There are 2 types of Z-targetting: 1. Things that show a yellow targetting-sign. When you target such a thing you can move freely around while standing in midar, but you can't backflip/sidehop or use your shield. Example: Enemys 2. Things that show a green targetting sign. When you target such a thing you can only move a little bit to the right/left while standing in midair, but you can go on with bombchu hovering. There's a trick to move completely around after targetting a green sign, too ;) Example: Bombchu I hope this helps to understand everything ;) Like AKA already said, the only way to do a ESS in the end of my stone tower climbing video would be targetting one of the fire keeses (those have a yellow sign) at the last mega flip.

here's the problem: when you activate another owl statue, you aren't able to warp to GB anymore so if you get SoS, you mustn't acitavte the woodfall and swamp owl statue to be able to warp to GB, so you would have to travel to woodfall twice

hmm, it has been discovered already I found it back in october and thought, that it would be new, but it wasn't :/ the reason why you warp to the major residence is, that it has the memory address 0 and the fake owl as well, so this is the place, where you get warped to. I could be wrong with this if you activate this owl as the first owl statue, you can warp to great bay via SoS with this ;) oh, and petrie, could you try to create a non-TAS route for me? I could start another MM run, but doing another run, would be only worth, if I skip goron mask, because if I don't skip it, the route would be basicly the same like the route of my old run. the only difference would be skipping ST and GBT boss key I'll have a look, if the fairy wrong warp to snowhead is possible for non-TAS, but I have some doubt, that it is

some of you may have seen it already, but here's how stone tower will look like in a TAS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPtWqB6gTgg&feature=channel_page we can clear the first gap with 3 mega flips, so getting into the temple takes: -10 bombs -7 bombchus stone tower temple takes 26-27 (boss key skip probably possible with 10) explosives altogether 44 explosives it should be best to get 5 bombs from the enemys in the mirror room.

what I did was not spekulating, it was writing down facts ;) watch swordless snowhead WIP of his first TAS attemp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6teMbrM7I4w&feature=channel_page he needed 4 explosives from the hill to the temple we need 5 if we use fairy fountain wrong warp because of the extra bomb to activate ISG I forgot to count the last superslide in my last post, but that doesn't change the fact, that we have enough bombchus for blowing up the snowballs

Sorry I didn't know that you didn't count that first gap.

ok, it works ESS off Mega Flip in MM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5boAiDnN9O8 If my eyes are right, it seems to be slower than a ESS off a Superslide maybe I did something wrong :/
Looks about the same speed for me. That ISS works out of a megaflip in MM is certainly a nice information. That is definatly going to be usefull in the fairy fountains, the hover in woodfall and maybe the second hover in snowhead and the hover into great bay. ^^ Btw. I have a suggestion for destroying the snowballs in snowhead, since we won't have the Goron Mask and probably no Chus to spare. Might be that somebody else has allready thought about it, like most of my ideas, but oh well: The first snowball gets destroyed by the hover which leaves 3. Now place a bomb in front of the next ball and get out your fire arrows and aim. The moment the bomb explodes shoot the arrow. The bomb will take out the next 2 snowballs and the arrow the last one and you have a free path. ^^ Ofcourse it's a little longer than it would be with chus, but it's the fastest way I can think about...
I think, we have enough explosives to be able to destroy the snowballs with chus fairy fountain takes 14 explosives getting up the rest of snowhead 4 getting through the bridge room takes 1 explosive getting over to wizrobe battle 1 takes 2 explosives snowballs part takes 5 explosives getting over to the boss door takes 3 explosives boss key skip takes 2 total: 31 explosives we use 2 bombs for fairy fountain (ISG + Mega Flip) 2 bombs to climb snowhead 1 bomb in bridge room 2 bombs to get over to wizrobe 2 bombs for snowball part 2 bombs to get over to boss door 1 bomb for boss key skip total: 12 bombs so we use 12 bombs and 19 bombchus for snowhead temple, what means, that we have enough bombchus for the snowball part

there's only one thing left to discover for me: better woodfall boss key skip should be the last useful thing left to discover for any% can anyone tell me, how to do a ESS off a Mega Flip in OoT, because I want to test it for MM. you get a slide effect after mega flip in MM, too, so this should work perfectly edit: after watching your video of ESS off mega flip in OoT again, I think, I know how to know my mistake was, that I was still holding Z, while mega flipping, but if I'm right, I have to do a mega flip without any targeting to be able to get a ESS off it

here's the ultimate GBT boss key skip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAZATlqt2XA&feature=channel_page no more boring bomb hovers :) if TASed, we might get it down to 7 explosives

thanks slowking the tricks was really hard to discover. using save stats is a milestone in finding tricks, because it took me a while to figure out the right angles for everything left to discover: GBT boss key skip with less explosives Woodfall boss key skip with less explosives I'll try some stuff today, maybe I'll find something. what's going on with swordless? does he still want to do the TAS or did he lost the motivation, because he had to restart so many times already? I saw a video about reseting while tasing. is this only possible with the new mupen version? if so, is it available for windows already?

If I get better at TASing, I could start a low% TAS, but I don't know, if I have the patience to ever finish it anybody keen on doing it together with me?

I've just did a little bit math with woodfall boss key skip and the best way seems to be to use 2 Mega Flips (one of bomb for ISG and one in the end) and 18 bombchu hovers I'll try if it works and then we can time it how long is that fairy cutscence after woodfall if you beat it the first time?

Ok, it seems, that many people missed a few tricks, I've discovered past the last 3 month and are not really fimilar with the low% category! a low% RBA run gets MORE items than a low% run, that visits spirit and shadow temple even if all trade items count as one item ;) and in case if somebody wonders, all we need to beat spirit and shadow are a Sword, a Shield and Bombchus. That sounds sick, but it's true. no Hookshot, Hover Boots, Bombs etc. the kokiri sword is not skipable, because of DoT skip! you can do DoT skip with deku stick on B, but in order to get a deku stick on B you need to have a sword ;) we visit Zelda to get zelda's lullaby. It's needed to get magic and magic is needed to shoot light arrows! we get Ruto's Letter, because doing RBA with it gives us arrows, so we can shoot one light arrow without quiver and bow ;) here's Acryte's trick to get bombchus from spirit temple without slingshot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JiTW_bBtKk I've discovered a way to hit that switch without a deku stick, but we need deku sticks still to get a small key to get up to that room. maybe we'll find a way to skip deku sticks completely someday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODZGV5VSXlo here are all the tricks, that lead to hover boots skip: gerudo fortress gate skip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cyf7zvxCIXc&feature=channel_page entering gerudo's fortress without bombchus: hover method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2cag5dzkv0&feature=channel_page mega flip method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuDcK_3bPAM&feature=channel_page silver block skip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5l72HQ1uaE&feature=channel_page (newer version for GCN; game freezes on N64 and Mupen if you use bombchus in a void, so you have to use chaosv1's way!) yep, hover boots are skipable ;) I've discovered silver Block skip and a few other tricks in order to make hover boots skipable a few weeks ago we will also skip hookshot, Bombs and hylian shield ;)

Playing around with Mega Flip in Pirate's Fortress: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkLhBwRZtg0 I also figured out a cool way to skip the last battle, we normally don't skip, that could be pretty useful. It only requieres 7 explosives and if optimized it takes maybe around 19 seconds, what should be definately faster than ding it the normally way. We have also only a normal sword, so the battle would take a lot longer ;)

yeah, it is slower, swordless, but we also get the number of needed explosives down, so clearing a gap with mega flip is not that much slower and not warping to CT, getting the nescessary rupess, buying them and wrping back saves a lot of time, so stone tower is definately faster with this strat. if you would use woodfall temple boss key skip you should definately use normal bombchu hovers there. I think, we can do stone tower boss key skip with 10 explosives instead of 11 if we use one single bomb hover instead of the 5th mega flip

Couldn't you lessen the hover-time and explosives spent by using the hookshot while still standing in mid-air? Anyhow one less trip to the bombshop is allways a nice thing and it also means less rupes, that also saves some time. @MrGrunz I've seen you speak german in a lot of your youtube comments. Are you from germany? If so I remember that you considered buying a recorder to capture a speedrun and just fyi Aldi has HDD-recorders next week: http://www.aldi-nord.de/OFFER_D_MO/OFFER_13/OFF03.SHTML
yeah, I'm from germany that seems to be a good and cheap recorder and I think of buying it, but there's one problem: I'm from south germany, so in the region, where I live, there is only aldi-south and not aldi-north, so will I also be able to buy that recorder in a aldi-south store?

a few weeks back it was a lot worse with the new mega flip and some new hover findings we got the number of explosives for everything down a lot, so the run won't contain any endless and boring hovers anymore the good thing is, that this run will look completely different to mukki's one. When SL gave the full game TAS the first try he was basicly going to use the route mukki used ;) now we have an awesome new route with all that new tricks, that will sub 2 hours :)
