Here's a run of Casino Paradise 1: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1441805583/sonicadvancecasinoparadise.vbm This beats the level in 0:24:73 (TSC is 0:35:80). I have a few ideas for some larger improvements, and I'm sure that this can be frame whored by quite a bit. Thoughts and comments are awesome!

Voting yes. The more complex drawings are definitely worth the extra time.

Incredible run. Very entertaining and a clear yes vote. The pirate man stage is one of the best TASed levels I've ever seen. Certainly star worthy imo.

There is slightly more to it than that. We get Mewtwo, plus a horde of other pokemon in UD that we would otherwise have to rare candy. It also means that we only needed to catch one abra earlier on (as we can get kadabra in UD, the single abra is traded for mr mime). Doing UD is quite distinctly faster than not if remember rightly.

Voting no because Aglar keeps making the rest of us look bad. Only joking, I actually voted yes! Spectacular improvement. I couldn't possibly imagine that this much time could be saved. As impressive as an equal improvement to any of the NES SMB runs imo.

At the moment we are in Unknown Dungeon. Unfortunately there are many pokemon there that do not like capture by a mere pokeball (No. 150 in particular) which is why it is taking some time. Be patient, it will be completed!

Wow, so many fantastic runs for the SNES this year. I also went with DKC by Tompa, because it was a startling improvement and it was better paced than DKC2 and DKC3. (I also considered Rockman & Forte).

It's a close one between Aglar and adelikat. Aglar gets my vote. While adelikat had individual movies that I loved, Aglar's quality across all his NES runs was simply astounding this year.

I nominate Aglar for making several surprising and very well made runs.

Hey guys, So, like I said in my submission text to my glitched Sonic Advance run, I have been looking into making a run of Sonic Advance that does not abuse the spindash glitch. Let it be said that this is not a glitchless run, however, it will not utilise that particular glitch as it fundamentally changes the way that this game is TASed. I think this is a good idea for a run, but what do you all think? Feedback would be appreciated as this will be difficult to optimise. I have done a 3/4-assed test run of Ice Mountain 1 as it is a good example of how this game looks when played this way. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/230081517/sonicadvanceicemountain.vbm The time is 0:29:93 and I can probably still shave another second or two off. The glitched run does it in 0:10:43, and the TSC record is 0:44:55.

I've been following the progress updates in the thread for a while now, but never watched any of the WIPs. Now I finally got to sit down and watch this run in all its glory. It was great and there were many great parts, but it very satisfying to watch Lightning Look-Out. I always hated that level and enjoyed seeing it done fully while manipulating the bolts with ease. Yes vote.

Very nice. I particularly liked what you did to the text speed. I didn't see that one coming. Yes vote.

Yeah, that was one of the first things I tried, but the pixelation is annoying in Windows 7.

I tried these out, but have not had any success so far. I will use lua for now, thanks for the help!

So I'm tasing using this new version of vba, but I am having a problem. The frame counter and input display in the new version, while recording, goes something like: frames Lag XXXXX (record): XXXX While before it went: frames lag XXXXX: XXXX Now, because of the 'record', the last digit of the lag counter is getting cut off. This is incredibly annoying if you are TASing a laggy game. Does anyone have a fix/workaround for this?

I finally found the time to watch this. Loved it and am voting yes. The new strats were hard to spot, as it has been a while since I watched the previous run, but I played through the game recently so I was able to appreciate more than just the new stuff.

Very nice finds indeed. Like Orange Claw Hammer has said we are both aware of further improvements to this run. I was looking forward to improving it in January when my schedule freed up somewhat, especially the potential for ceiling glitches. If you want to improve it hopefully OCH will provide you with the details. If you would like a co-author drop me a PM, I can look into this earlier if I have a partner.

I can see why some people get upset any time a "Top XX of all time" turns up, but personally I find them useful. I can tell from titles that I am familiar with whether or not I agree with their taste and if I do I greatly enjoy checking out those that I am not familiar with (I do this with more than just video games). I've found many of the titles listed so far to be interesting, here is my list for whatever it is worth. 1. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (N64) 2. Chrono Trigger (SNES) 3. Pokemon Blue (GB) 4. Metal Gear Solid (PSX) 5. Terranigma (SNES) 6. Final Fantasy 7 (PSX) 7. Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Genesis) 8. Golden Axe (Genesis) 9. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis) 10. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) 11. Super Mario 64 (N64) 12. Sonic Advance (GBA) 13. Pokemon Silver (GBC) 14. Sonic Advance 2 (GBA) 15. Lion King (Genesis) 16. Streets of Rage (Genesis) 17. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (SNES) 18. Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (GBA) 19. Donkey Kong Country (SNES) 20. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem (GCN) 21. Mega Man 2 (NES) 22. Super Castlevania 4 (SNES) 23. Crash Bandicoot (PSX) 24. Trip World (GB) 25. DoReMi Fantasy (SNES)

Very nice. I was wondering when a run incorporating the new (though now rather old) glitch would be submitted. This is the type of glitchiness I like; it cuts down on dull overworld time, but does not interfere with the interesting bomb usage in the dungeons. Yes vote.

So with all the pokemon hype on the workbench recently we figured that it is time for an update. This new WIP has 51 pokemon registered and, timewise, roughly marks the halfway point of this project. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1157831647/POKEBLUE.vbm In this WIP most of the map is now open which means that we can concentrate on visiting the areas with many species of pokemon (i.e. Safari Zone, Seafoam etc.) without having to worry about story stuff. As always, all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Clever. I liked how counter-intuitive this seemed at first, but the less time required for the new byte change technique paid off better than I thought it would (well...not completely new, but this application could easily have been completely overlooked). Yes vote, of course.

I find it very impressive that something like this was possible for this game. The glitches were interesting when they were first being used, but the overuse made the run ultimately rather dull once the novelty had worn off. My vote is meh; the glitch became boring, but I don't mind if this gets published.
