J'ajoute mon grain de sel (non, je n'ai pas lu toutes les "reply"): aucunement besoin de connaître quoi que ce soit au "coding" pour être un bon TASeur. Seuls patience et acharnement sont de rigueur!

Perhaps we should change the Mario Star Road forum post into a general "Mario Hacks" post instead, so non Super Mario 64 TAS stuff isn't here.
Done.

A little off-topic, but are there any plans for a CCCless run in the future?
Not really, I doubt CCCless would be different enough from 120 stars to warrant publication + JRB would be really boring.

Glide. Like I have a choice. BTW, if you scroll up you'll see me telling you I had a glitched ending >_>
I mean did you use Glide 64 'final'? Because there is nothing glitched in the encode on my channel.

feos, what video plugin did you use? The official YouTube encode seems to have glitched credits compared to zvsp's encode.

I do care about the emulator choice, so, if it's accepted, I want to be allowed to use Snes9x 1.43 on my future SNES runs. edit; I've been thinking better and I actually demand that they let me use the Snes9x 1:43 if it's accepted or not!
This TAS uses SNES9x 1.51, though. Not the best choice, but still better than SNES9x 1.43.

I was talking with Nahoc a while ago and he said that with his AVSync build he could start playing back a movie, load a state, then start recording. Whenever I try this, it starts recording and gets stuck on the first frame. Is this a matter of settings or could this be fixed if I got a new build? I really don't want to go back to using non AVsync, or having to record the entire movie for a WIP.
It gets stuck for like 15 seconds but then it starts recording. Give it some time; I usually juggle between pause and un-pause (dunno if it changes anything?)

Actually, publish this as it is. The improvements are too much trouble to implement and it's only a 18-frame loss.

TAS Competition has been started once again. Bloobiebla and Sam will definitely enter, so I'm certain we will be able to see some very good submissions. Would be cool to see some new people joining as well ;) We might start doing the 100% run as a collaborative project soon, so if anyone is interested in taking part at that, he could use this task as some kind of warm up or practice for it.
Could you provide a link to the TAS competition, please? Edit: http://forums.zeldaspeedruns.com/index.php?topic=1250.0

Way better than the total-control movie. Voting YES so that this movie obsoletes it.

How to detect the reset frame? I will save a state after it and load to capture from it.
Just frame advance and find out when the reset occurs. :/

How can I capture a movie with reset? Emulator freezes after it during capture (I use the proper version that can PLAYBACK it).
You need to make 2 captures. One that pauses right before the reset, the second one after the reset. Also, you'll need Glide 64 'final' video plugin for the best visuals.

Oh, I might re-consider putting this in the star tier. Give me some time to read the tier description!

Are you working on this or something? I'm nearly finished with the Forest of Silence. I've managed to put the candle grab trick in and manipulate an extra crystal without wasting time. I've also reduced lag by manipulating the never ending spawns of skeletons and improved the platforming using the LGG (ledge grab glitch) better. The mini boss was manipulated to his death faster as well. If you want to know about the LGG I might be able to answer it. Basically I have to hit the jump button near a ledge and advance 2 frames then hit hit jump again. Holding jump at this point controls how high your ledge jump will be. In most causes you just want to hit jump, advance 2 frames, hit jump and release jump asap so you land on the platform as soon as possible. I usually have manually check what frame I can begin it with on each platform.
No, I'm not working on it. Just wanted to TAS this for fun, haha! Yeah, but sometimes I'll just end up re-grabbing the ledge I just grabbed. Sometimes I need to come up to the platform at a funny angle for it to work. Maybe it's easier on different types of platform, idk. Anyway, I wish you good luck with your run. =D

Here is a YouTube encode for those having trouble with niconico (though I recommend nico since the encode on there is 60FPS): Link to video

Just extend the input file to go well beyond the ending credits or make the garbage input end in a cutscene or something where it doesn't affect it.
